NYMT / BYMT 2021

Starting a new thread for NYMT / BYMT hopefuls in 2021.

DD13 is auditioning for NYMT for the second time as stage performer and as musician. We just received an invite to the next round (online workshops).

She was gutted that Covid put a stop to her show (Imaginary) last year so we are keeping everything crossed that she gets another shot.

We've also booked a BYMT audition and she's already in the musician pool there so hopefully a show of some sort this year if we get some kind of normality back again...

Anyone else out there?

Blimey this is nerve wracking isn’t it. We haven’t heard anything yet. Workshop was 13 March

I’ve just come on to see if anyone has news. We’d put it to the back of ours minds as we figured it might be mid April before we heard more.
So sorry to hear about the no’s. Especially for those who were cast last year.

We haven’t yet heard but DS is out and he never checks his emails! Now I feel all anxious agin!

Sorry to hear of more no’s. We’re in the same boat as you @chaperonemum, need to wait for BYMT result before we can make any other plans.

We got a no here too. DD is fine with it although she enjoyed the audition and thought everyone was lovely and would of course have loved to be involved.

We will have a look at the summer course after the results come through from BYMT. She's doubtful there she thinks it went pretty badly.

Sorry for everyone else who got a no and let's hope that no news is good news for everyone still waiting x

@Mcmumager I think you could be getting good news, as my friends DS did first workshop and he got a no last night. Their surname starts with T

Sorry to hear of more nos. When you consider how many apply there will always be more nos than yeses but I know how tough it is (DS has been there many times for things, and no doubt will be again). All the kids should be congratulated for having the courage to put themselves out there and the resilience to deal with knockbacks. @thebabewiththepower please can I ask what date your DS' workshop was? A friend of mine is waiting for news and has none, but her DD's workshop was quite late so she doesn't know whether there could still be an email on its way.

We just got a no. My DD has taken it well. It is a shame but everyone is so talented. We were the second to last weekend of auditions, so they are nearly there with the no’s. Congratulations to those who get recalled. Xx

Still trying not to get hopes up though as it could just be that different people have different batches of emails to do...

Nothing here either. My son did the first workshop but we are near end of the alphabet so you never know!

Hi, we just got a no too. Not a surprise at all as despite loving musical theatre, singing (and dancing!) are not DS’s strong points!! Amazed he got to the workshops. I have just been looking at how much it is too so am fairly relieved on that front too! I suspect if you haven’t heard, it’s good news as we were one of the last workshops.

We just got a no from the online workshops - but my dd didn’t do one?!! She already got a no to attend the workshop. Maybe this is the musician one? Who knows? Anyway we’ve moved on but thought I’d report in 😂

Bad luck to those who had got a bit further - they clearly had a lot to choose from so very tough

We just got a no too. If you did the earlier workshops and haven’t heard yet, I think that means it will be good news.

Hey! So we’ve just had a no but invited onto the summer school. I haven’t told my DS yet but I’m relieved as I have booked camping trips!! Anyway, is the summer school any good? Does everyone automatically get an invite? Oh, and I’ve literally just heard. xx

I am sorry to hear about all the NYMT nos, DD was so disappointed when she got one in 2019 and then also for NYT last year.

We just got a no too! Have been invited to join the summer course in august, so think that may soften the blow. Good luck to everyone else and commiserations to the DC's who didn't get through this year. Thank goodness the wait is over for us, was going slightly mad Confused

So very sorry to the dcs that have got a no this time, especially those who had secured their place last year. Hopefully there will be other opportunities coming up to perform. My DD is also fed up of zoom and is far better feeding off the excitement around her in a face to face audition or workshop. Fingers crossed for those still waiting to hear x

Really sorry to hear the no’s coming through. As a mum of one who got a place last year I’m absolutely dreading giving that news if it comes so really feel your pain. I think this year we will need to put it down to the zoom situation which obviously means it’s so hard to see the talent when you are a little box on a screen.
I wonder if they will continue with responses today or if we’ll need to wait till after the holiday weekend.
