NYMT / BYMT 2021

Starting a new thread for NYMT / BYMT hopefuls in 2021.

DD13 is auditioning for NYMT for the second time as stage performer and as musician. We just received an invite to the next round (online workshops).

She was gutted that Covid put a stop to her show (Imaginary) last year so we are keeping everything crossed that she gets another shot.

We've also booked a BYMT audition and she's already in the musician pool there so hopefully a show of some sort this year if we get some kind of normality back again...

Anyone else out there?

Hey all ... i’m another one waiting with DD who did zoom workshop on 20.2.21. We know one other person who zoomed (mid march) but she got a no on Friday.
Maddening isn’t it?! Other stuff for summer is now coming in and can’t book anything until we know... (incl holidays!)

I think musicians will hear from BYMT this next week, I was hoping it would be similar for NYMT as well, but maybe not.

There were always going to be recalls for performers, I'm afraid. Usually the musicians get selected after that...

I am a bit confused - so performers now have recalls? Musicians are def a long way off it seems ?

Obviously their understanding of the meaning of the word 'shortly' and ours are not the same... Am thinking there must be a hitch. Just wish we had some information!

It was nice yesterday not having to check emails as I thought even NYMT would give themselves a day off! Hope we all hear something soon/

@Alakazam8 not everyone recalled will get a show. So definitely more gin required!!

If they have got a recall they will be told for which show (s). They will get sent a link to a dropbox with songs to learn (a backing track and an audio version is usually provided if they can't read sheet music but it isn't always easy), some script to prepare - not learn - and sometimes a dance video although sometimes it is taught on the day. In normal times they would come to London and be recalled in smallish groups and audition for the specific creative team of the show in question. I imagine this year will be the same, but on Zoom...

I thought that was sort of matching performers to shows, but I’m so new to this I could be wrong... sounds like I am! (Looks round for the gin again!)

I feel like NYMT have done the nos. I don't know that; it's just my feeling. However, what will come next (whenever it comes) will not a be a yes you've got a show (sadly) but yes you have a recall. The pain continues!!

@Belshels I think most of us have if people read back through the thread here! I wanted to post something earlier and had to stop as it would be completely outing!
For those still waiting for NYMT does anyone else think (hope) that maybe they’ve done the no’s and may now do yes’s after Easter? Does anyone have a yes yet for performer with them?
Well done to those who have yes’s from BYMT. Here’s hoping for more positives now!

@Belshels Ds did Cautionary Tales with BYMT in Plymouth and it such a lovely place to explore! We loved the quayside and you can take a little boat over to the Aquarium and hopefully see seals on the way! Nice restaurants too. Cute theatre too!
