My DD asked me everyday if the result is uploaded. I told my DD before "think about GCSE, A level in the future, You have to wait quite long time to get a result".
But DD said "at least these exams, we know exactly when the result will be out!".

Got the marks at last! DD is happy. Just within the 6 weeks - just hope that doesn't mean another 6 weeks waiting for someone to get out their abacus and work out her scaled score. Anyone else still on the bench with us?

Over 5 weeks! They won't follow up a query till it's the full 6 weeks. They did confirm I had correctly uploaded the files so don't think I screwed it up. Hoping it's been marked and waiting for grading and they just forgot to upload the mark/comment. I don't want to wait another 6 weeks for a grade!

For me it took 2 months to get log in details but after I uploaded the video on Friday, marks/ comments were on the page on Tuesday so I was very impressed. It was 1 Sep. But no final result yet. I know it will be up to 6 weeks though.

I was very shocked about full mark girl's final result. Full mark!!!!!!! This girl could be perfect for scales, Aural etc! So trinity's historical data tells full mark candidate's supporting test are not that good as performance(6% down) for her grade and instrument? Well 94% is still distinction but if the candidate is a border of distinction and merit? I am sure that now Trinity can't cope with all complains and appeal for their results!!

Still waiting for the marks/comments! So 94% is the most you can get with this system? Not that DD is going to be anywhere near, too many unforced errors. I'm inclined to cut them a lot of slack for managing to get anything working in weird circumstances but yeah, not feeling particularly inclined to do any more exams this way.

On trinity Facebook, someone got 66/66 full marks ended up with 94% for the final result. 6% lower than her pieces. Full mark is unbelievable achievement though.
It's so funny that their slogan is puts performance first! They should stop using this prediction system.

Yes I heard they got 3 times more entries than expected....i hope you get your marks soon! I didn't get an email but checked it regularly and it just appeared early this morning!

Still nothing here. I asked their fb people, but they just said to ask again if nothing by 6 weeks.
Someone said they'd had 4x as any entries as expected so no wonder they're struggling. I wonder if they were expecting usual number and got more, or expecting fewer and got usual number.

We finally got the mark, 51/66. However the techn ical was very low in comparison to the musicality, so not sure what the final grade will be. Hopefully they won't fail him. It's guitar by the way..

Then I will definitely submit the recording once the registration is open again. It's good to have a feedback from not your teacher. That's why I miss local music festival to gain constructive feedback. If the result is great then tell your DD, if the result is not what you expected, if I were you, I will be quiet.

I understand children need to be encouraged especially now! So the grade exam can be one of those to feel achievement ( I normally give my DD reward after grade exam). Or for some it's very important to obtain certain grade for their audition or University entry.

But the timing is very important. That's why ABRSM said record whenever the pieces are ready then upload later for their excuse. Originally, ABRSM's performance grade supposed to be in Aug, then now they said registration will be at the end of Sep then upload by early Nov. They must be very cautious about their exam handling. Apparently Trinity expected about 5000 candidates but they had more than 30000 then couldn't cope with the workload. Well this is the first ever experience for both boards so understandable though. I was rushing to take Trinity exam this time as I didn't know when ABRSM will do the exam back in June.

But my regret is that I should have been more proactive and encouraged my DD to take a video regardless of exam's log in details etc. As my DD was a great procrastinater we waited till we knew exactly when was the closing date!

Thanks karate, will have a look at their fb. It's piano and just playing pieces from the standard book so I don't think supplying parts was expected. Think we might have done previously (for live exams) for brass as they don't have a book, just a long list. So maybe things like that?

Meredusoleil, she still has the skills but I know what you mean, it's nice to tie it off with a certificate. I would go on how the child feels about it I think.

That must be a real pain no grading after a month! I can't wait for that long neither!

On Trinity Facebook page, someone mentioned that as she didn't upload the music sheet she wasn't graded. I don't know which instrument need to upload a music sheet, may be singing?
I found Facebook messenger is better than twitter's DM. I thought same member of staff is dealing with SNS but Facebook staff gave us a solution in the end to obtain the log in detail. Twitter staff said to me she can't access to that info! So worth sending message on Facebook page if you haven't done it so.

I hadn't received a notification email for grading for the performances so I kept checking myself until grading was up. Now I am waiting for the final result. Has anyone received an email for the final result or it came up on the grading page? At the mo only shows submitted, Graded and no final results there.

Did I mention, still nothing. I'm so impatient, fortunately DD not fussed. Are we still going to have to wait a further 6 weeks for the algorithm result if the comments take a month?

meredusoleil, tricky, does she want to do it still? Is she stopping playing completely or just stopping lessons?

My dd1 was ready to take her Grade 3 Music exam back in June/July but for a long list of reasons, we didn't sign up for the digital assessments before the bookings closed.

Now we are waiting for Trinity to restart the exam bookings, but dd1 has stopped her lessons. So I don't know if it's worth trying to enter her for the Grade 3 afterall, or just forgot about it as so much time has passed 🤔

Yeah, DS was going to do one in the summer term but by the time they made the digital offering he'd started learning other music. (DD wasn't planning one but then teacher spotted chance to sneak in a late entry!) I think there's a lot to be said for not doing every single grade, particularly if they're progressing well or they end up just hopping from grade to grade and not having time for other things. If you're already sick of the pieces definitely sounds like time to move on.

He would be devastated with a pass for piano, he's had all distinctions so far. Part of me thinks he should just miss it, we are all sick of the pieces at this point!

His teacher moved him on to grade five material. I'm not sure what to do. At least I could get his teacher to record the piano exam at school.

Nobody in our family is musical so it always feels like I'm letting him down.

60-74% are pass so 69% is high pass.

I am thinking to let my DC to take ABRSM performance exam too but at least, ABRSM is not using algorithm and purely for their performance, it's more straight forward.
If my DC take a video at school with an accompanist, it will be more like a concert style and can have a good atmosphere rather than taking a video at home which was a pain for us.

Trinity should have made us more clearer about the algorithm. I just wonder if the examiner make a note of the candidate's ability of scales and aural through their pieces? Also I assume their assessment criteria of "Fluency & Accuracy", "Technical facility", " Communication and interpretation" for the each piece's mark are the factors to decide the estimate mark for the supporting test. So if the candidate is good for Fluency and Communication on their mark but not good score for Technical facility, the mark can be lower. Then I can see if the 3 pieces score are the exact same but their outcome are different. My DC got 1 mark lower for technical side of the score, I am a bit worry about the final result now.

I logged back in today and his final Mark is there, 69% but it doesn't say what this equates to, I'm guessing a pass. No email, no nothing from them.

I was planning on my children doing the performance exam for their piano (ABRSM grades 4&2) this experience has honestly put me off.

I never expected him to get an amazing result for this as the prep was rushed and it's not his main instrument. I did however think it would be properly marked. The feedback can't have taken more than two minutes to type.

Travelban, I think that is where the marks are supposed to show.? We're still waiting too, submitted about same time as you. I think some examiners must just have had a pile up (or a pre booked holiday before Trinity changed the deadlines!).

I finally managed to get the log in details by facebook messenger. I uploaded on 29 Aug and got marked today. The feedback sounded like the instrument specific examiner. For actual face to face exam, you can tell if the examiner is specialising to your own instrument or not. Sometimes, your own instrument examiner can be tough though.
I hope I can get the final result soon.
