Summer term 2019 music

A new installment of the long running music parent threads. Everyone is welcome from complete beginners to grade 8 and beyond. Thanks as ever to the lovely waffle for starting the threads up and looking after them for years. What are your plans for the coming term? Any exams, auditions, festivals, new instruments? Please come and chat.

@Trufflethewuffle My DD is also going to be applying to conservatoires for autumn 2020. (Haven't joined this thread before, so hope it's okay to dip in.) But she's also applying abroad. Here, I think it's only Royal Scottish and Royal Academy - she wants to do composition. Can I ask what yours wants to do? We haven't been to RScot yet, or RA. She saw Trinity Laban, but it didn't fit her preferences.

Amazing results! Dd is also 8 and I was quite skeptical about her chances of passing.

Well done theory-ers so far. A pass is a pass, that's all you need :)
Queenmabby don't rule out adult sizes depending on style/length. DD has an adult size 4 concert skirt from H&M, she's a skinny but tall 7. It's easier to find black for adults.

Well done to all the grade fives with passes.
It can't be easy at age ten!
I am still waiting here. Yesterday I called to find out why they haven't arrived yet and apparently they hadn't received the supporting documents. While on the phone they said 'oh yes they do have the email' and that they would be available later that day. And now they still haven't arrived.

Shock Just texted DS2's teacher to ask if he's checked. Now on tenterhooks - I've got everything crossed for his Grade 5 theory.

Well done lucky, hope it's good news for those waiting, I'm sure it will be.

Thistly She loved every minute of it, even after rehearsals that seemed to drag on for ages.

If you google children's concert dress you'll get all sorts, honestly that's all I did. Mine is in adult now so not as difficult, but you still need to look at the cut, style etc.

Anyone who knows me will remember I occasionally find a belter that is just beyond good. So here is the latest, hope you enjoy. You can't very well not enjoy this.

@luckyfab well done to your DD!!! that is excellent and all she needs to move onto G6. dd will also turn 10 next month so will be pleased to get this over with... still waiting Confused. Think I need to walk away from all electronics for a few hours. Wearing battery down with my constant refreshing Blush

Only a pass for us... I hoped for a better result but it is ok ok. She is still 10 and has got time to improve. Good luck to you!!!

I must say I'm quite envious of everyone waiting for results. DS's exam isn't until next week and he's very much over it all. Any tips to get through the last few days much appreciated!

Having had two girls go through many years of concert dress shopping the best place I found, if your DD is adult sizing now, was House of Fraser online sale items, under evening dresses. Can be hit and miss depending on what is in the sale but I've picked up some wonderful dresses from there.
