Just booked DD(14)'s audition, her first year. Very nervous for her and there are three months to go.

She has done well as the big fish in a small pond and had really good NODA reports, comments on Lamda exams and in local competitions. Now it is time for her to put herself out there in the big wide world.
We know the odds are against her and we talk about the experience being good.

@janinlondon we have not heard from BYMT ( what used to be youth MT). They said they were casting on the 27/2 and 28/2 and that letters would follow in the next two weeks, but only to contact them if you had not heard by the end of March.
In that I over analyse everything I figured that realistically the first day a letter would arrived would be Wednesday.

Have YMTUK made offers yet?? Anyone?

janinlondon · 28/02/2019 11:59

Ah....thats interesting Biscuits - You are a font of knowledge! I think DD may be glad she chose the academic route at this point...who knows where she will be by next year??

Biscuitsneeded · 28/02/2019 11:01

Sorry it wasn't what DD wanted Jan, but sounds as if she is pretty busy anyway! Next year!
Not sure about the Bugsying. I do know one 13 yr old who is more like 11 in height who has been offered a named role in AG so there must be some Bugsying going on!

janinlondon · 28/02/2019 10:48

Great part! Well done that girl! (The rumour mill had it that AG was going to be Bugsied but I think that is not happening!!)

Antaresisastar · 28/02/2019 10:44

Jan, I'm glad your dd isn't too disappointed. Dd has been offered "Charity".

janinlondon · 28/02/2019 10:29

Antares well done to your DD - what part??

janinlondon · 28/02/2019 10:27

Well done to the successes! As expected, a consolation offer, but not the one DD wanted. So that's us out for 2019! DD has just revealed that she has a show on during the AG rehearsal time anyway....so God knows how that would have worked (not!). No one terribly distressed though.

Thanks EvilTwins, he feels very, very lucky.

EvilTwins · 28/02/2019 09:07

Fantastic news biscuits!

MariaMT · 28/02/2019 07:48

Brilliant news for your DC! I’m so pleased there’s some positive news to hear about. We will defiantly come to see the shows.
Enjoy their success and celebrate tonight x

Antaresisastar · 28/02/2019 07:34

Thank you Biscuits and congratulations to your son.

Biscuitsneeded · 28/02/2019 07:31

Really sorry to the disappointed DC. I'm really sure their turn will come.

A huge well done Antares' DD! Brilliant news!
DS has a part in Legend Trippers and is delighted.

Antaresisastar · 28/02/2019 07:17

So sorry Maria and minimits. Dd received her email at about 1am! She's been offered a part in AG. Very happy.

Lonecatwithkitten · 28/02/2019 06:43

I am sorry to hear that Maria as hard as it is for us as parents to see them disappointed it is the way the industry is.

OP posts:
MariaMT · 27/02/2019 23:13

It’s so hard isn’t it, everyone says learning to deal with knock backs is so important though. I’m sure we are saying all the right things but it doesn’t make it any easier.

It will be a little bit better in the morning hopefully.

minimits · 27/02/2019 22:53

Sorry to hear that Maria, one dissapointed DS here too so sending lots of virtual sympathy! Hope she’s ok x

MariaMT · 27/02/2019 22:42

Thanks Biscuits, you’re right a recall is a huge achievement and great experience.
Hope you all find out soon.

Biscuitsneeded · 27/02/2019 22:22

Ah, sorry to read that Maria. I hope your DD is OK. She should definitely try again as a recall is a really good sign. Nothing here... yet...

MariaMT · 27/02/2019 22:20

My DD received her email at 9.30 this evening saying sorry it’s a no this time. She’s obviously disappointed but is putting a brave face on. I’m thinking that with her gcse’s this year it could be a blessing. Hope your DC get better news...until next time x

Biscuitsneeded · 27/02/2019 19:05

I also think tomorrow now, and usually they start early evening but can go on till quite late.eg 11ish ..Good luck all .

Antaresisastar · 27/02/2019 18:19

Biscuits, dd has asked me to ask what sort of time you've heard in previous years? She's assuming it will be tomorrow now? I have no idea but it's obviously on her mind. Thank you.

minimits · 27/02/2019 16:04

We are just assuming a no. And good to have something to keep them busy indeed biscuits! If we don’t know tonight I am going to be very distracted tomorrow!

Biscuitsneeded · 27/02/2019 15:58

Haha Minimits, mine is also rehearsing every night for something. It's a good distraction I suppose...

janinlondon · 27/02/2019 15:45

DD is presuming its a no. So that puts her in a less stressful place I think......
