Traditionally for many years MN has had an audition thread; so here it is as the auditions start in a few days 😀

Hi Decaf, welcome to the wait......

Decafcoffee · 31/10/2018 20:31

Hi can I join? DS9 just auditioned for the under10s over the weekend. He’s currently in the regional. What a loooooong wait till December !

Boyskeepswinging · 31/10/2018 17:33

Today was the last day of auditions .. so that's that for another year. Just the loooong wait until December. Really hope everyone gets what they want. Best of luck to all the MN NCO crew!

Doubleup · 28/10/2018 21:38

Glad to hear all those auditionees coming out happy. When is the last day of auditions?

Radiodependent · 28/10/2018 12:53

Yes they were very friendly today too, also last year.

Lotsofmilkonesugar · 28/10/2018 12:07

DD had hers yesterday and came out smiling, the examiners were very friendly and encouraging, so it was a positive experience (phew!) 🙂

Radiodependent · 28/10/2018 11:43

Crazy I try not to accompany when possible as it’s not my first study and it’s nerve racking being able to hear everything but logistically it’s often easier than hiring someone and Ds seems to prefer me to a stranger. If our school teachers are free we try to get them though!

Radiodependent · 28/10/2018 11:41

Thanks, well we did it and he said sight reading was quite easy. I think he set off a bit fast on his unaccompanied piece and there was a small slip but the other one was good, though he could have emphasised dynamics a bit more! It was fun having a trip to GSMD together anyway.

Floottoot · 28/10/2018 10:58

Crazy, same for us - we say in the cafe and he was whisked away and reappeared half an hour later, all done and dusted.

Floottoot · 28/10/2018 10:57

DS had his audition yesterday.
He's not giving much away, other than it was "fine"...which could mean anything from just about ok, to absolutely brilliant. Don't you just love 12 year old boys?? 😂😂😂😶

Thanks, will be good to get it done. I am accompanying so I will probably make more mistakes than ds!

Trumpetboysmum · 27/10/2018 10:25

Radio no under 10s sightreading is fine good luck tomorrow

Doubleup · 27/10/2018 10:24

It is likely to be one or two lines of sight reading Radio. Seems as though they add another line each year as they audition for the older age groups.

Radiodependent · 27/10/2018 10:13

Ds is auditioning at gsmd tomorrow, he is so fed up of his pieces it will be a relief to get it done! He is refusing to practice sight reading today so fingers crossed the under 10 stuff isn’t too hard...

littleladsdad · 25/10/2018 23:38

That was my concern TrumpetVoluntary - ds was auditioning for main orch but wasn't asked to transpose. It seems that he wasn't alone. Still seems a bit odd.

ThreeAndUs · 25/10/2018 22:04

DS had audition on Tuesday for U11 trumpet. He was also very nervous this time but seemed to settle down once in the audition room. He said after the sightreading he was asked if he could transpose and he told them he could but it wasn't his strong point, they then asked if he'd like to give it as go and he said yes and gave it his best shot. Now for the long wait!

TrumpetVoluntary · 25/10/2018 20:07

Thanks. Smile

Trumpetboysmum · 25/10/2018 19:24

No it’s not a bad sign at all . They were only supposed to be asking the under 13s and main orchestra . But it seems like all of the prospective main orchestra weren’t asked either and it said on the info that it was optional ? even for the older ones . So don’t worry . Smile

TrumpetVoluntary · 25/10/2018 19:15

Strange that some other trumpet players were asked about transposition and DD wasn’t asked (she is applying for U11s). I hope that isn’t a bad sign for her!

TrumpetVoluntary · 25/10/2018 19:11

DD had her audition today. She was very very nervous (much more so than last year when she hadn’t had any experience of NCO) and so some things were a bit shaky. But it sounds like she gave it a reasonable shot. It is a long wait to find out though!
Good luck to those who haven’t had theirs yet.

littleladsdad · 25/10/2018 15:12

I've only just found this place but glad I did because Trumpet has put my mind at rest over the sight reading, thank you!

Eroica · 24/10/2018 19:53

We usually go after school- I think mine have been in uniform every time.

Lotsofmilkonesugar · 24/10/2018 16:12

Thank you for the replies! Think we’ll go with comfortable and scruffy then! I will wash her jeans though 😂

Trumpetboysmum · 24/10/2018 13:05

Ds is always one of the scruffy teens !!
