Traditionally for many years MN has had an audition thread; so here it is as the auditions start in a few days 😀

Oh and good luck to your dd for the grade 7 - everything always happens at once doesn’t it !!

Good luck to all those anxiously waiting.... who knows what order they will come in this year.... my dd (U12s) has her G7 viola exam on Wednesday - if it's not good news may need to wait until after the exam to tell her. My DS (Main) loved his U13s concert yesterday - after we left he said 'I may never see my friends again.' 😬

Musicdoc · 10/12/2018 16:16

Trumpetboysmum was your boy the La la land soloist? All the brass were amazing yesterday but really... he was phenomenal!

squintsoftheworldunite · 10/12/2018 11:27

U10 anxiously - and not very patiently - waiting here...

folkmamma · 10/12/2018 10:13

Good luck to everyone waiting to hear!! We're not this time (year off to focus on other things!) but almost as nervous waiting for all our lovely NCO friends to hear. I will be following this thread and looking forward to hearing how you all get on xxx

CoffeeTeaChocholate · 10/12/2018 10:12

We are strings btw Smile...

CoffeeTeaChocholate · 10/12/2018 10:11

Cannot believe it is the big week. Fortunately, I think DD has forgot about it... I am waiting anxiously though.... we auditioned for under 10. I think that is going to be hard this year for string players with the training orchestra gone! Good luck everyone!

Pippap1 · 10/12/2018 10:06

DD auditioned for U10. She has told all her friends and teachers about the audition, so I need to inform them of the result. I am really nervous... I hope she can get in at least Regionals...

Trumpetboysmum · 10/12/2018 09:54

Indeed it is - but ds finished yesterday’s concert on a superb “ super d” ( very high note !!) so he’s happy anyway and said it would be the cherry on the icing on the cake if he gets into main orchestra- I think that’s the right attitude. I shall of course feel really nervous until I hear

Josamac · 10/12/2018 09:29

It’s the big week.....
Daughter full of croup and feeling awful so not sure she has even realised....

Harpmum12345 · 10/12/2018 09:10

I have auditioned my boy in the under 10s this year.
Really nervously waiting for the outcome!
He has only played for about 6 months but his teacher recommended it.

Decafcoffee · 06/12/2018 15:39

Windmum I imagine that’s because most of the year 3s and year 2s were in the training orchestra which has sadly been canecelled this year Sad

WindMum · 05/12/2018 23:26

The year DD went to the u10s residential she had just finished year 4, there were a few who were year 3 but not many, most were year 5s. Some repeated u10s due to age the following year. Due to the change from year of birth to academic year she did U11s twice, year 5 and year 6.

Decafcoffee · 05/12/2018 05:27

Ds did regionals last year and he absolutely loved it. I also think he would have enjoyed training if he got in. Socially it would have been perfect with lots of 7 and 8 year olds. I wonder how they’ll organise the under 10s... hopefully there’ll be a mix of 8,9 and ten year olds
Trumpet I think procorda starts from age 8 but I could be wrong. I’ve heard great things about the cello course they run so I’ll definitely look into it for ds in the future.
Good luck to all the dcs!!

Hopefully even if they don’t get under 10s they will get associate places . It’s hard when they are so young as there probably aren’t lots of other orchestras to play in . But as they are so young I guess there will be plenty of opportunities in the future.

Have either of you considered pro corda ? I can’t remember which school year it starts from but might be worth a look

violinmama · 04/12/2018 14:34

It’s such a shame training has gone 😕 I wish I’d known before the auditions - I think we’d have left it a year or two...

Decafcoffee · 04/12/2018 14:29

Violinmama we’re in the same boat! Ds is also 7 and auditioning for under 10s. His chances are very very slim but he doesn’t know that. He’s so excited to be a part of NCO Smile

violinmama · 04/12/2018 14:11

My heart skipped a beat too when the email came through... I’m new to all this. Dd auditioned for training (age 7) - although since heard this has been cancelled so chances of a successful outcome for U10 are tiny...

Trumpetboysmum · 04/12/2018 13:13

Oh no crazy !!

Just got the update email. Results will be out from the 11th!
7 more days of waiiiiiiting..

Trumpetboysmum · 03/12/2018 06:50

I don’t mind the hanging about Cambridge is lovely !! But I think it’s going to clash with AYM and so it’s unlikely that ds will be able to attend enough of the full days - he’s always had to miss a couple to be at Snape
