Hi
I thought I would start a new thread as the other one must be nearly full and I might have lots of questions as it is our first time!
My DD is in the U10s for 2018 and hopefully also in South Easterlies. I told my parents about her getting a place and they would like to come to her concert if possible (I understand that this is 11am on 19 August at Port Regis school) or have volunteered to look after my younger children instead if needed. Given my parents get booked up months in advance (they have a very active social life!) and Port Regis isn’t particularly near where we live so we might end up booking accommodation, then I wondered if anyone could let me know how this works:

  • do we get a limited number of tickets? I assume there must be some kind of limit.
  • would the concert be suitable for children (my younger DC will be 7 and 5 by then)?
Thanks very much.

Seats have stickers on, telling them where to go. Tiny ones tend to be buddied up with older ones, stronger players are placed throughout the sections and in both 1st and 2nd violins, and at ours, children who've made nationals usually play Woodwind 1 parts, even if they can't play all of it.

A bit of money for cake is optional (we take some). Squash and biscuits are provided. Yes to the music stand!

Nigglenotes · 20/02/2018 16:21

Oh, does DD need money for cupcakes, and take her own stand?

Sorry, I guess there will be an email.

Nigglenotes · 20/02/2018 16:17

Oh, can anyone tell me if they will know where to sit, etc. Is it all pre organised..

Nigglenotes · 20/02/2018 16:14

Easterlies this coming weekend. I think we are the last Regionals to start? Anyone else going? I am hoping it is possible to leave half an hour early as DD has to be on stage at 6pm for a Theatre Train show. She will miss the dress rehearsal, so will wing it, although having done it three years, should be fine.

TrumpetVoluntary · 20/02/2018 09:20

Yes, a Sound of Music medley as well as various other pieces, including a new piece with the composer in attendance.
Hope your DS is playing some pieces that he likes even if not the Sound of Music.

Sound of Music?? Really??? That's DS's favourite movie! We should have chosen SE!!

TrumpetVoluntary · 19/02/2018 23:00

Hope he is better now. DD looked terrified but afterwards said she enjoyed it and is very excited that they are doing the Sound of Music!
I spoke to some other U10 parents but don’t think I met anyone from here.

Thanks trumpet. It's a shame I DS2 was looking forward to making new friends! Hope it goes well tomorrow and we're looking forward to joining in in April Smile

TrumpetVoluntary · 17/02/2018 20:49

Taggie - hope your DS2 is better soon. There seems to be lots of stuff going round.

Sadly - I have pulled DS2 out of southeasterlies tomorrow. He really isn't well enough. And it is a nasty bug, which I wouldn't like to spread! Oh well - he can join in later in the spring...

Michaelahpurple · 17/02/2018 08:37

Thanks chaps - had been repeatedly looking for the list but you lot finally alerted me !

Am sooo glad I waited as the boy whose mother I was about to cold-email about sharing isn't on it. Given what I know about his music I think it much more likely that they decided not to do it this year than that he didn't get in, but one doesn't want to put one's foot in it.

I am always surprised that more boys from Ds's school don't do NCO - there are quite a bunch of JD level players although I think some of them choose to do pro cordial instead.

TaggieOHara · 16/02/2018 14:01

I can see them. Got all wound up because I couldn't find DS2 (bearing in mind previous confusion), then twigged that they are in alphabetical order of first name, not surname .

Southeasterlies on Sunday! Im hoping we'll be there, as DS2 is ill at the moment. If he can't go to this one, he'll have to wait until April as there is a choir concert on the March date.
