The new annual thread for those interested and/or auditioning! Ask questions, update your news - lots of nco parents on board and those hoping to be :)

siriusmuggle the courses are usually an afternoon start, 2pm arrival, 3pm first rehearsal (or thereabouts)
littleladsdad wow that's amazing - huge decisions though!
kutik73 how can you not open it after all that waiting?!

snowbellina · 14/12/2017 13:50

Oh sorry - my times were for the regionals. I think courses normally start at 2 or 3 pm - can't remember exactly!

snowbellina · 14/12/2017 13:48

Normally afternoon 1.30-4.30pm.
We have to travel two hours to ours - 4 hrs is far!

littleladsdad · 14/12/2017 13:48

Icouldbeknitting checking for emails is so much easier that walking down the drive to check the postbox umpteen times a day for news of NCBBGB audition! Thanks for the heads up.

Yesterday's slightly disappointing news more than offset today by an offer of a place at Purcell for next year. DS has offer of place at Wells too. Decisions, decisions.

Siriusmuggle · 14/12/2017 13:47

Well done all. I have another question, what sort of time do the courses start? The first one is a four hour drive from us. Is it usually morning or afternoon?

stringchild · 14/12/2017 13:45

Kutik open it - am fire it’s good news!

Well done mini glitter and double! Xx

Glitterfill · 14/12/2017 13:31

So excited my dd u11 just got her email. She is thrilled to have got in! One very excited first time flute player. I hope she gets to go to the South Easterlies.

Kutik73 · 14/12/2017 13:17

The email just came in. Can't open it. Suddenly I don't want to stop waiting!

stringchild · 14/12/2017 13:01

Well done to all the yes’s today. No news here 🤔

folkmamma · 14/12/2017 12:59

Yay for minidouble!!! See you in Feb Smile

threesfun · 14/12/2017 12:32

Musicdoc - yes I think our boys are cello friends! Huge congratulations to yours - that's fabulous news!! Well done to all of the other Yeses too. We're still waiting for news here....

Kutik73 · 14/12/2017 12:26

DS is a June baby so he is also relatively younger in the age bracket. Smile Hopefully they won't change their age rule as it's quite confusing!

Hurray to miniDouble! Worth waiting!

HouseFullofCats · 14/12/2017 12:26

Congratulations to everyone who is hearing good news today so far.

Is anyone else still waiting on u12 results?

Doubleup · 14/12/2017 12:16

Finally! U11 for dd - and just heard that her bassoon buddy got a place in U11 too. She’ll be a happy girl!
Hope it’s good news for anyone else waiting

violinandpiano · 14/12/2017 12:15

**Musicdoc, your DD is so talent. We will do grade 7 next term and maybe audition for NCO U11s next October. It looks still not enough for NCO standard.

Musicdoc · 14/12/2017 12:12

kutik73 she turned 10 in August, so has gone from being in the middle of the age bracket by last years NCO, to the youngest now. So definitely u11s. Her best friend turned 10 this month and is in U10s for a second year - they would have been separated anyway.

Kutik73 · 14/12/2017 12:00

Musicdoc, thanks. So nice to have a place to share our thoughts. Your DD sounds extremely talented. I can tell how fierce the competition is from that... By the way, if she is still 9, she should be auditioning for U10?

Paulweller11 · 14/12/2017 11:59

Congrats to your Cello playing DS musicdoc xx
Congrats also to your DD violinist xx
Congrats to it’snevereasy too
I think I preferred the postal method- only had to wait once a day for the postman rather than endless looking at emails.
Yesterday the email were 2 hrs apart- it sent me crazy GrinSmile

Musicdoc · 14/12/2017 11:52

kutik73 only the email will tell you the results. My DS was full for two years, reserve last year (and got a place for the second course) and then full this year. My DD was full for two years, reserve last year (and got a place) and this year only an associate. She's a hard worker, G7 merit age age 9.5... although was aiming for U11 violin which seemingly is the most competitive instrument and it gets harder every year.

Kutik73 · 14/12/2017 11:45

Perhaps Rara and my DS are in the same person's hand who really decided to do it randomly! Grin

Kutik73 · 14/12/2017 11:44

Super well done to your DS, Musicdoc. And thank you for your comforting words. To be honest, I don't know why I am waiting. DS was reserve last year, then this year he didn't do particularly well, as DS said so who is usually unbelievably optimistic. I probably just want to end this asap!

Siriusmuggle · 14/12/2017 11:41

Hi Bassclef. He’s looking forward to it. It’ll be great for him to be playing with so many musicians of his own age. He’s usually the youngest by a few years in things like county youth orchestra and windband so this is a novelty!

Musicdoc · 14/12/2017 11:39

kutik73 feeling frustrated for you - all the U11s we know have had their results, and as they say, it is still random even though we are seeing some patterns... but 2yrs ago my DS had a 10 day wait after everyone else with a positive outcome. Fingers crossed for your DS

Musicdoc · 14/12/2017 11:33

We've had a U13s yes for cellos... thrilled for my DS! Hopefully the rest of you don't have too long to wait.
