Floot - he sounds like he is doing really well and he has a great teacher.

Trumpetboysmum · 11/12/2017 13:17

I know I was thinking that too please hurry up NCO Grin

CharisInAlexandria · 11/12/2017 13:04

Well done Floot to your son for giving it a shot. It’s not easy to play in front of people you don’t know.

Obviously it’s not going to be a big batch email then as it seems floot is the only person to hear so far.

Floottoot · 11/12/2017 12:59

Gosh, you are all so lovely, I could cry!

Floottoot · 11/12/2017 12:58

His teacher is wonderful, Trumpet. He's only been with her for 6 months and she has totally transformed his playing. He loves his lessons with her and they are a great partnership.

Nigglenotes · 11/12/2017 12:57

Thanks, Floot, that is helpful and the report for your DS is positive.

I am just watching fresh snow cover the layer of ice on the drive! After the school run this morning I went straight to get two new front tyres for the car. After taking the old ones off the guy said I had certainly got my monies worth out of them Blush. It took two hours as seemingly half the town had the same idea.

violinistmum · 11/12/2017 12:57

Yes, that sounds really encouraging for next year. Hope he will be ok x

Trumpetboysmum · 11/12/2017 12:54

What a lovely thing for that the teacher to say

CoffeeTeaChocholate · 11/12/2017 12:46

Just saw your next post floot, that sounds encouraging though. Both with the report and with your teacher's support, it sounds like he has done really well, but that the competition just was too strong this year.

CoffeeTeaChocholate · 11/12/2017 12:44

Oh Floot, I am so sorry. I expect the same for us, but there is always that little hope... this just brings home how strong the competition is! Hopefully your DS will be ok.

Floottoot · 11/12/2017 12:43

Thanks, Trumpet. There were lots of positives in the report so I think he just needs more playing experience to help him develop. His teacher just sent a lovely text to me, saying how his drive and effort mean more to her than audition success, and telling me to remind him how far he's come even since the audition.

Trumpetboysmum · 11/12/2017 12:34

Thanks for that Floot . I think that's really encouraging for your ds and hopefully your ds will take it ok I think mine just wants to know now

Floottoot · 11/12/2017 12:28

The email comes straight to the point BUT be warned - it will show as having attachments which may make you think it's a "thick" letter, not a "thin" one, IYKWIM.

Nigglenotes · 11/12/2017 12:23

Floot, for the benefit of the rest of us, does the email come right to the point about the result, or is it in an attached letter? Wanting as much mental prep as possible..

TrumpetVoluntary · 11/12/2017 12:23

Sorry to hear that Floot. I hope he isn’t too upset.

Nigglenotes · 11/12/2017 12:20

I think the audition sheets are quite individual and there are a lot less cello places than violins so it may be harder to get a spot.

violinistmum · 11/12/2017 12:15

Sorry to hear that Floot. Hopefully next year x

Floottoot · 11/12/2017 12:15

Thanks, bass and trumpet. Hope you get good news soon.x

Floottoot · 11/12/2017 12:14

Thanks, Niggle. The audition sheet said he had lots of potential, which is encouraging but maybe they say that to everyone.
It sounds like he didn't do well enough with the sightreading; he's actually quite good at it but lacks confidence and it can go to pot when he's anxious.

Trumpetboysmum · 11/12/2017 12:13

Oh I'm sorry Floot hopefully next year and well done to your ds for trying he's made amazing progress really quickly x

bassclef · 11/12/2017 12:10

Really sorry to hear that.

Nigglenotes · 11/12/2017 12:06

I'm sorry, Floot, hopefully next year.

Floottoot · 11/12/2017 11:54

Just got the email here...unsuccessful.
Not entirely surprised but disappointed for DS. I guess there's always next year.
Fingers crossed for everyone else.x

Trumpetboysmum · 11/12/2017 11:22

Oh no string and Floot yes the mans here now to make it temporarily water tight. We will be having all the fun of new bathrooms ( and heating ) in January!! Must be mad but we just need to get on with it

Floottoot · 11/12/2017 11:13

Thanks, Trumpet. Ds (11) and Dd (14) have had to share a room since August. They have mostly enjoyed it but it's far from ideal and I think they'd like their own space again now ( and I'd like them to go to sleep at night, instead of chatting!)
Carpenter and plumber are here today. Funnily enough, we've just found a puddle by the back door in the new utility room...hope you're warm and dry again soon.
String, that sounds even less fun. How long before you have hot water again? Not a good start to the week. 😢
