The new annual thread for those interested and/or auditioning! Ask questions, update your news - lots of nco parents on board and those hoping to be :)

Congratulations Marmaduke and Charis. That's wonderful news!

Nigglenotes · 12/12/2017 13:04

Well done! What a relief for you both.

DD also did the NSSO residential last year, her first time away from home, and she had a wonderful time. She is going again this year.

marmadukehussey · 12/12/2017 13:02

Thanks, bassclef - she absolutely loves it.

Fingers crossed for everyone else x

bassclef · 12/12/2017 12:58

Well done to marmaduke's dc too! Regionals is a great achievement.

Nothing here yet...

marmadukehussey · 12/12/2017 12:57

Here too! Regionals/associate again. So pleased with that outcome and I know D is thrilled, too. Constructive feedback also from the adjudicator, which is really beneficial.

Just waiting for one more result for Training orchestra.

Huge well done to everyone who auditioned and hang in there to everyone still waiting.

CharisInAlexandria · 12/12/2017 12:57

That said she played it in a music scholarship audition yesterday and it was sounding loads better than in October.

stringchild · 12/12/2017 12:56

I can also vouch for young nsso - dd’s first residential and really excellamtb

They didn’t like her performance of Vivaldi in A minor much and suggested that she should have chosen a different piece!

bassclef · 12/12/2017 12:54

Well done Charis' DD!

CharisInAlexandria · 12/12/2017 12:54

Violin under 11s
Sadly she doesn’t benefit from being born at the end of August

TRL · 12/12/2017 12:54

Ah, well done miniCharis. Good to hear.

stringchild · 12/12/2017 12:53

Well done to your dc Charis - which instrument/age group is dd? We live Regionals I must admit - travel distance makes it a family day out!!

Just heard that we got regionals again but not the age group orchestra. I actually think DD will be chuffed. Her playing has improved lots even since the audition so roll on next year.

dancingqueen16 · 12/12/2017 12:44

Hi, I am also eagerly waiting for results...
DD did Young NSSO a couple of years ago which I would recommend. It's a one week residential course in July in Malvern.

ChocolateFryingPan · 12/12/2017 12:22

My son was fine about it thank goodness. I am a bit disappointed for him though given the struggle he has

Trumpetboysmum · 12/12/2017 12:06

I bet it was Floot . To be honest I think we are all fed up with waiting here - but we still all can't help thinking about it. It is literally the first thing ds asks about every day when he walks through the door . Hopefully by the end of the week we'll here something it could be disastrous if it's a no and we find out in the day of ds's concert and solo but he says he wants me to tell him whatever the result is .

Floottoot · 12/12/2017 11:58

If it helps, our surname is early in the alphabet and DS auditioned at the end of the dates, for the U12s.
It was a relief to wake up and not have to stress about checking emails this morning, even if the news yesterday was disappointing.

Radiodependent · 12/12/2017 11:40

We will look at either the local summer course ds did for the last theee years or possibly Fantasia Music School if it’s a no (which is what I am expecting having heard most of audition).

Wafflenose · 12/12/2017 11:24

I am not looking forward to dealing with the fallout in our family though - we are waiting for THREE results, of which at least one HAS to be a no, due to there only being two children.

Radiodependent · 12/12/2017 11:22

Yes I think if they haven’t done it before they are not too worried about the results!

Wafflenose · 12/12/2017 11:19

Radio my younger DD had been learning for 13 months at the time of her audition, and hasn't had any proper lessons yet. Just sort-of supervised practice with me. She should have done well, but messed up. So that is probably the end of that. I think she's forgotten all about it.

CrazyMamaOf2 · 12/12/2017 11:19

tick tock refresh....

TaggieOHara · 12/12/2017 11:06

There are solutions (DH does a lot of this type of thing). I wouldn't do it by email. Better to have each user register, and make a private login space for them on the web server - like the 'parent portal' at DS1's school, which contains all his reports, detentions etc. Might be expensive though!

Radiodependent · 12/12/2017 11:06

Nothing here and ds is both youngish and near end of the alphabet. The silver lining of doing the audition was that he used the same piece for a festival and got a silver with it. He has also only been playing for just over two years so was really auditioning for experience.

stringchild · 12/12/2017 10:56

whatever way they are doing it, would be nice to hear some yes's :)
