lucysmam are you doing the Flat Brownie challenge badge? I did the Flat Rainbow one a year or so ago, they loved making them. We posted them off to other units round the country though, and were sent theirs in return.

So, I've just agreed that DD will move up to Guides at May half term she's already got her name down for Guide Camp in July there'll be no stopping her! Can't believe the toddler I took on a Rainbows unit for is getting so big!

Millicent, I looked at it and decided it was too far. I'm in bucks. Looked fun, but just too far.

Is anyone here Anglia and a Brownie leader? If so are you doing Starburst? I'm tempted but we're the other side of Anglia so it will be a 3-4 hour drive each way without traffic and that just seems... well... totally beyond the realms of sensible thought for a weekend away. If you're going, how far away are you?

Our Brownies sent home flat Brownies on Tuesday to see what adventures they could get up to...

In other news, admin is much easier with a laptop that actually works! Just need a printer now.

Well tonight was hard work. I don't know what has got into them all tonight but in 20 years helping i have never had such rude, naughty Rainbows! They've been playing up for a couple of weeks but this was a whole new level. I think we shall be spending some time next week on sitting down and listening and promise work, with a lot of emphasis on being kind and helpful! and how the words 'but my mummy lets me' are likely to get you sent home so mummy can deal with your attitude

In the mean time and a quiet room are in order.

Groovee that sounds really poor. You need to escalate to your DC and RA and ask what they are doing to support you. What's the point of submitting in advance otherwise?

What exactly are the problems?

REN: do all the leaders have a dbs and does the first aider have her training up to date?

We've got Go-for-It planning tonight. I predict that the newest Guides make a proper plan, while the oldest just chat. Then complain bitterly that they're bored for the next few weeks.

It really is up to them to tell you if they want changes! Far enough in advance! Grr on your behalf!

I find asking on our County FB page is a good way to find commissioners - someone will know that checks often whereas you chance a non-email-responder if you email.

We only had one Guide turn up for our last meeting. We'd planned joint pancake making with the Brownies followed by the Great Egg Race but one of my Guide Guiders couldn't make it so I'd roped in the Rainbow leader for the Guide but so I sent her, and the one Guide, home. I have a feeling that a couple got confused because of us having our Thinking Day event but all the Brownies managed to come on the right day.

Don't let that put you off Groovee, we can help! Is it a day out or an overnight? You don't need a REN for a day out.

We did a Growing Guiding / Thinking Day 'Grow' activity last night to try & get more members. We stuffed 100x little envelopes with some sunflower seeds & a note from the Guides detailing some of their favourite Guide activities, & we're giving them out in the local primary school, social club & local businesses. We are a small unit naturally but we need about 3-4 more members ideally to make our unit financially viable!

It was lovely. I came together with dp, who is a beaver letter, and contracted the schools as a joint enterprise. That school must have invited all uniformed organisations. Saw a pic on my dc's school website, of all the kids in their uniform. Not going to post it, but happy to share privately.

Welcome Knicker! I mostly do Rainbows at the mo, but am about to do my module 1 for Brownies due to a job swap with the Brownie leader to help with her childcare issues.

I help run a Brownie unit bytheway. We've had great fun making pancakes over stoves with 22 girls this week!

Very unexpected news, and very welcome too.

That must have been lovely Inflagrante. I didn't realise wearing uniform to school was a thing on thinking day (Is it for all uniformed youth organisations then, if the girl's brigade was in uniform too). It's lovely though. There's a youth movement day here when everyone wears uniform, but it's not Guide/Scout specific. I think that looks amazing too.
We're on half term this week, so did thinking day a few weeks ago.

Was awesome to see all the different uniforms at school drop off this morning. Lovely to go into the other school too, I have 1 girl there, a new, rather clingy one, who was so excited to see me 😁 was very when a wee one came up to me at the end wearing a girls brigade uniform, in all my terror I hadn't spotted her amongst the red school jumpers! Dd2 went in wearing cub t-shirt, cub necker, brownie leggings and hoodie.

Love the speed dating game, going to try that! Mine like running about games, but I have to watch them, as one of mine has a physical disability, and I don't want to damage her!

My Brownies had a sleepover in the hall at the weekend, which was fun but exhausting, then church parade in the morning.
