Can anyone help? I have a new Rainbow but she used to go to the next nearest group to mine (meeting time became too late for her). I read something today on the internet about a quick way of using her original membership number on GO to get her details (without making parent fill them in again), I immediately emailed the other leader to get her number. Now I have her number I can't find what I read at all

Good thinking! I'm going to have a look for them at Lidl, was going to get my dad to pick something up but chances are if he can't find what I ask for specifically, he'll turn up with something random

Can I have thoughts on my plan for our teddy bear evening? No-one's answering my bloody emails! & my mentor is coming to join in with us.

Well, I've enjoyed being in charge the last two weeks & got good feedback on my sessions from the girls. Just hope it continues when our outgoing LiC comes back next week!

Need to get my artistic skills in working order now...I want a big ish teddy bear drawing for pin (blutack) the bow tie on the teddy bear for our teddy bear evening!

I helped develop Free Being Me Groovee, I hope your girls get a lot out of it!

This term we are doing the Road Safety and World Guiding interest badges, and the Leap Day challenge badge.

The book activities involve sorting foods into ones that have been grown or come from animals. And seeing what comes from our country/others.

The "take it further" activity is whether they think the foods are healthy or not.

Am hoping these will be fairly quick.

I've added a "what's on my plate?" placemat to make their own dinner on. And then a game of fruit salad if we have time.

It's supposed to tie in with Harvest fest but not sure how many will make the connection.

Ah fab, thank you. Albus, we have one or two who may not want to be blindfolded so maybe theirs at the bottom of the pile to root out first without and then blindfold for those who do want to have a go with it?

I'm just prepping the Food Homes activity from the Festivals Roundabout for Tuesday. Have any of you done this one? I'm wondering how well it went?

get the girls in a circle, with all the teddies jumbled up in a pile in the middle.

You stand by the pile of teddies and pick up two at random and hold them in the air.

The two girls whose teddies they are have to run around the outside of the circle and back to their place. The first one back "wins" their teddy back.

Keep going until they all have their teddy back

(At brownies we play this with one of their shoes in the pile, they have to hop round on their still shod foot, to win their other shoe back!)

Everyone puts their teddy in the same pile. Then, one at a time, each girl has to find her own teddy whilst wearing a blindfold.

Thank you MrsLeigh, I think I have worked out where my troubles came from.

I documented the Safeguarding training I did as our LiC told me that came from unit funds - it's not on her copy anywhere. And she is missing a sessions worth of subs plus a payment made to Brownies towards Christmas party refreshments as they organised it. I went through it all again today.

I can always print it off as is for the moment.

I want to pick your brains for a 'teddy bear festival'. Our Rainbows really want to do this activity and one has asked that we do it before half term when she moves up to Brownies.

We'll have certificates for various things, some variety of teddy shaped snack depending what I can find, maybe a Winnie The Pooh Story. I need a teddy bear friendly game or two but am stumped!

lucysmam - I don't think your assessor will check the veracity of the accounts - just that you are competent about keeping accounts IYSWIM.

What expenses you do and don't charge to the unit is not the concern of the assessor.

I may be wrong, but no-one checked my accounts submisison against the master copy when I did my LQ.

Facebook groups are just the same as FB generally: people don't post when they have done a simple old favourite, they post when something has gone spectacularly well. It's impossible to compare your meetings with the others because you are at a low ebb so seeing the worst of yours and the best of theirs. As long as your girls are enjoying it what else matters?

On the other hand, if you want them to cover something 'more worthy' (though not quite the holocaust) there's a resource called 'Together we can' that gives you simple activities/ways to cover quite heavy topics just get the girls thinking. I mention it because I'm feeling the strain a bit at the moment and we're going a together we can badge as a few easily prepared ones.

I'm also on the brownie fb group and feel like I can't match up. Do much girl led guiding, and camps and challenge badges, trips out And covering important issues like the holocaust. I feel like a victory if I can get mine to all join in a game^

Isn't that the challenge and achievement though? The Facebook groups alternatively give me inspiration, disbelief and awe. Then I eat chocolate and remind myself that good looks different to each unit.

I never do challenge badges as I don't have the money or time in the term for then (I will do the official ones like BBB or Mission Spectacular) but to be frank my Guider/Brownie led mission for the past couple of years has been to get the rest of the leaders using the adventure books and program rather than obsessing with interest badges.

We don't camp (county trips only, but I like day trips and events as they are fairly easy to plan for me. I often end up with 3/4 other units coming too some with only 2 girls which gives the leaders a viable option.

I know that I'm really lucky to have a great network of Guider friends in the next district for support though as my district is generally rather struggling with enthusiasm.

I'm having a 'moment' with unit accounts.

LiC has printed me a copy of hers up to date so I can check mine against them but there's alllll sorts on there that I wasn't aware of being on & she paid for her own transport to Winter Wonderland so mine are well out!

I don't know what to do now - whether to start from scratch & input each date individually as I go through them or wait and speak to my mentor next week about submitting a different term's accounts for my LQ

I am quite looking forward to our first meeting back (it's kind of planned already because we had to cancel a meeting meaning we are just going to do most of the things we missed). However I have a STACK of admin, forms for a sleepover I said I'd do because I'm not going so that's my contribution, register, bank account, check which girls that are on the unit are no longer attending so can be removed from Go, individual details forms that someone else was supposed to do last term but didn't, one leader is leaving and had a quite specific role so will someone else do that now etc. etc.

It just feels like a lot of work for nothing. I did it on my own for a couple of yeard. Now I have done helpers, who are great, but I feel like I need to do more now I have them, rather than ease off a bit.

I'd say taking it slowly and focusing on one meeting at a time but I know it's not that easy.

What are the immediate issues or has it been building up? Fancy talking it out to vent or have the super guiding league come up with suggestions (both sensible and ridiculous)
