1 more guide night here - pond dipping at a nature reserve as an outing for the science badge. Just hoping the weather perks up again by Monday.

However I got bitten by two horseflies. So I covered myself in insect repellent. So I threw up behind one of the craft tents (into the hedge).

Was not my best ever brown owl moment.

It had me panicking a bit when I was checking the cash box and paying in book etc but I found it & all is now right with the world again.

Our local PCSO has confirmed for next Tuesday - I've been warned they have form for just not showing so going to have something to do with strangers up my sleeves/people who may be approachable if help is needed after a few comments from one Rainbow last week. Not sure what yet...Pinterest will probably feature in my evening somewhere

FINALLY got the subs from my worst offender! Only took multiple texts/conversations and a letter to get there Now I am only missing a tenner from a Rainbow who paid for the first half of this term. I haven't seen her for a couple of weeks though so who knows what's going on there. Still, missing a tenner is better than missing £84.

Albus I'm glad you survived the camp. Did they let you sit on a chair? I had visions of a baby shower for our pregnant leader but she never returned so I couldn't do it!

Lucysmam that sent shudders down my spine. My accounts were riddled with things like that. I keep checking this years (all down to me and no one else) because they always tally and it makes me smile!

I got a hug from a Rainbow who has barely spoken to me or anyone else since she joined in January. She has some extra needs and I was so worried I wasn't giving her the best experience. Really meant a lot to me.

Thanks Inflagrante, I've found it. I entered it twice as being received - once on Sunday when she wrote it for me and then again on Monday when I went to the Post Office to pay it in before I put it in on the banking sheet. Think I was looking so hard I couldn't see them one above the other.

That was very confusing there for a mo.

Ok, some at some point that extra £10 has been entered as cash. Do you have the records to verify everything you've done? I mean really basically, print it out and tick off each receipt? Would that help?

My accounts spreadsheet is doing my head in - it's counting the cheque for the remaining money in the old leader's account as both cash I have in my posession, and paid into the bank. So it says I have a tenner more than I actually do have & I can't work out why

Quite surprised actually, it seemed to sink in. No-one wandered or flounced about with scissors. Everyone remembered to put them down closed when they had finished. Hopefully it will stay that way - they have been warned that if it doesn't, everything will be pre-cut until after the summer hols and then we'll try again. Has got me thinking though - maybe some of them just don't do the basic stuff like cutting out at home so don't know about safety (I presume it's mentioned in schools though before they come out? Might ask dd2's teacher tomorrow if she's free after school).

Dd2 is thrilled...it's her turn with Bluebell this week. No doubt we'll have to take her everywhere we go!

Swallows and amazons has been excellent fun. Dutch night a success, outdoor cooking a success, codes- well tonight was chaos. But I get my own back next week, we go geocaching. The joy of the Chilterns, there's lots of contour lines, all close together. That'll wear them out! Most of our district have now done it, to support the pack.

Lucysmam, I raise you the parent in my Sunday school that wouldn't allow her 5yo to use scissors- like you the school style sharp enough for paper but nothing else- because when he was a toddler she'd caught him investigating the contents of his pants with a pair in hand!

We have our first ever pack holiday in Oct. Eeeeek!

InFlagrante, basic not walking with/wafting scissors about etc. Was having a think about something one of our Rainbows said last week & remembered she was also wandering about with them & pointy (well, round because they're school type scissors, but still...) facing towards the rest of us so think we need to remind them about being careful before we start.

I think we need a chat about scissor safety tonight . Making paper plate medals - for Father's Day but they can make for whoever really. Must remember to ask AL if she'd rather do 1st Response or Safe Space at the next training day too.

Planning a code/spy night, and came across this. Strikes me a waste of wine!

◦White paper
◦Paint brush
◦2 Tbsp bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)
◦2 Tbsp water
◦Undiluted grape concentrate

Mix together the water and bicarbonate to make your invisible ink. Write your message and allow to dry completely. To reveal paint over with undiluted grape concentrate.

We survived magic and mayhem in the pouring rain, and girls had a blast.

Telling the brownies about my pregnancy and that I am leaving at the end of term tonight. Absolutely dreading it!

Village fete today. I have an awesome group of brownies (and parents) We had a simple stall, treasure island drawn by our sixers with a sweet hamper prize, and a 'pick a lolly' with donated teddies as prizes. The girls pretty much ran it themselves, with the overseeing adult needing to do very little. Just need to count up our takings- at 20p a go we won't have made a fortune, but the tub was rather heavy walking home

If any of you were on part of the bug Rainbow trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park today, sending you a big wave. I was with the other group that was there!

Both DC and DivCom were there last night (they run Guides together), said write and ask them for some cash once I've had the SNUG

Hmmm, I'm failing to see how I purchase resources to use as the Guide unit opens when I can't apply for the starting a new unit grant until I actually have some girls by the sound of it. Unless I have missed something obvious.
