Auditions started this week so a new thread for those whose DC are auditing and anyone else interested.

Dd was in the Under 10s this year, and reserve for the Training Orchestra the year before. Auditioning twice - this week and in Oct. unfortunately our accompanist had pulled out this week but DD is ok going solo. We aren't expecting a place this year as it is seems to get harder as you go into the older orchestras but the journey has been brilliant so far and DD wouldn't consider not having a go.

Anyone else?

What regionals are your under 13s, main orchestra dc doing please?

Musicmom1 · 14/12/2015 23:03

Congratulations to all the DC who have places - it seems to have been quite a tough year, I guess because so many auditioned.

For those wondering about regionals - DD loves them and wouldn't miss them. It is quite a hike for us, but it is a great part of being in the NCO. DD is in other orchestras but def finds the regionals to be more stretching not least because you have to be concert ready with far fewer and quite spaced out rehearsals!

u13s here. DD very very pleased and relieved to be moving up with friends - she is a bit younger so could have done another year in u12s. Smile

Musicdoc · 11/12/2015 10:14

Congrats all- and StompyFreckles - getting into U13s after missing a year is fabulous!!!
Still no letter about u11s here.... am now utterly convinced the letter is lost in the post. Hopefully by next year they will learn that most communication nowadays is electronic. Will be ringing the office again if the letter doesn't arrive in the post.

maggiethecat · 10/12/2015 21:38

I think so (...Peach?). It does get tougher so good they're in. Also nice that summer course is up North - shorter journey for us.

StompyFreckles · 10/12/2015 20:32

Yes her letter said the same Maggie! I think our dd's were in under 11s together? We weren't expecting dd to get in again this year, so was a lovely surprise!

maggiethecat · 10/12/2015 20:23

Dd under 13 violin - very pleased!
Stompy - did your letter say "you have won this place against stiff competition and can feel proud of yourself" ?
Dd's interpretation is that she just scraped in Grin

StompyFreckles · 10/12/2015 18:17

Dd got it to under 13s on violin! She didn't make it in to under 12s last year, but was in under 11s the year before that and is absolutely delighted! Not sure how we're going to raise the £1700 to pay for it though...! Shock

Jubato · 10/12/2015 14:47

Just found this thread. Got our letter, DS has made it into training orchestra as a cellist. Phew!

He can't wait to be gone for a week. Shock

Do most people tend to do the regionals as well? Seems a bit of a trek!

stillwaitingfortheletter · 10/12/2015 14:03

Thank you waffle Xmas Smile

Wafflenose · 10/12/2015 14:00

How brilliant! I have been thinking about you all day, and hoping it turned up. News worth waiting for. Well done to your DS.

stillwaitingfortheletter · 10/12/2015 13:42

The letter has arrived, and it's a yes! Can't wait to tell DS - it's the first time he's auditioned, even though he's U12 age. Good luck to all those still waiting.

stillwaitingfortheletter · 09/12/2015 18:05

Well done Bella's DS.

BellaNigella · 09/12/2015 16:12

Happy news for DS today U12's Smile
Good luck all who are still waiting - the letters are coming!

Wafflenose · 09/12/2015 15:44

Some results at my school are starting to trickle in now, but I know of someone who hasn't heard about Under 13s yet.

Musicdoc · 09/12/2015 15:07

I'm still waiting too! And know someone who's waiting for an u12s is also still waiting.Hmm

stillwaitingfortheletter · 09/12/2015 14:41

The info I had back in sept said all letters should be received by 11th, and to phone if not heard by then, so I was going to phone Friday.

Wafflenose · 09/12/2015 13:45

Have you rung to check when it was sent? Someone on here a few years ago didn't get theirs until a few days before Christmas, because it had got lost in the post.

stillwaitingfortheletter · 09/12/2015 13:37

Today's post has been... Still no letter

Musicdoc · 08/12/2015 21:35

I have to confess that I was a bit frustrated today when I realised the post had come and still no letter... So I phoned the office Blush
They were able to confirm that DDs letter was posted on Thurs (it arrived Sat) and DS's was posted on Fri..,.

Feel better reading this to realise we are not the only ones still waiting - just hoping that they haven't forgotten to put a stamp on the envelope (which is what happened with the course info last year!)

stillwaitingfortheletter · 08/12/2015 15:05

thanks waffle - that makes me feel slightly better!

Wafflenose · 08/12/2015 14:53

Yep, lots still waiting. Nobody at the school I work at has heard yet.

stillwaitingfortheletter · 08/12/2015 13:12

Also just found this thread - ds auditioned back in October for U12s but we still haven't heard. The post has been today, so will be tomorrow at least Sad
Is anyone else still waiting?

Eroica · 07/12/2015 23:37

Sorry- she got in for clarinet, her 2nd instrument.
Not sure about the regionals thing- I didn't really understand the letter they sent- but they seem to be very far away, and not very regional!

Eroica · 07/12/2015 23:36

I have only just found this thread, but my DD got into U10s. We had her letter on Saturday.
She is very, very pleased. (as are we)
