Do you have an unreasonable amount of stuff?

I was just taking stock of what my DD has for dance and is as follows

leotards
tights
leggings
school t shirt
school fleece
leg warmers
ballet shoes
pointe shoes
jazz shoes
tap shoes
character shoes
ouch pouches
lambswool
lighter/ matches
cotton wool
sewing kit
surgical spirits
spare ribbons/ elastic
gel knee pads
hair bands
hair grips
bun nets
hairspray
hair gel
make-up
water bottle
toe pads
resin

I daren't count up how much it cost.

numerous pairs of black leggings in various states of disrepair
ditto black lycra or velvet shorts
dance school t shirt and onesie
crop tops in excelsis
jazz shoes (only worn for three comps a year for rock n roll and therefore often grown out of and realisation of such comes the night before a comp)
bun nets, wigs x4
hairspray, gel spray
more clips and blonde hairbands than anyone ever needs ever
capezio foot undies for comps where feet are suffering (our association deems children must dance in bare feet)
magicool spray
black and white snazaroo facepaint, brushes, foundation, vile neon pink blusher, equally vile lipstick and mascara
postcards and black markers for making extra numbers at comps
SO.MANY.SAFETY.PINS
solos costume and headpiece
pairs costume and headpiece
slow costume and headpiece
slow pairs costume and headpiece
team costume and stupidly large headpiece that doesn't fit anywhere
in case something happens spare costume

(we do disco freestyle ADFP)

Ouch pouches are toe pads that are gel filled and go in pointe shoes.

oslomum · 30/09/2014 22:25

most things mentioned sound (too) familiar, but not sure about ouch pouch???will have to ask dd about that one...

500smiles · 29/09/2014 09:41

I often think that too - especially getting up at 5am on a saturday to drive halfway across the country.

dancestomyowntune · 28/09/2014 20:21

I also have four children who all dance... why did I start this hobby? Dance has gradually taken over our lives!

kellinaa · 28/09/2014 15:11

We have to take pedestal stands with us all the time (for those acro classes). Portable barre very rarely. Only my eldest daughter carries a resistance band regularly to classes.

500smiles · 28/09/2014 14:54

Lessons (not too OTT):

Poodle socks
Soft shoes
Hard shoes
Dance trainers
Plasters
Anti-blister cream
School t-shirt
School hoodie
Leggings

For competitions:

Wig
Hair doughnut
Tiara
Fake tan
Enough make up, hair grips, bobbles and hairspray to re-stock a small Boots
A dress that cost more than the dress I got married in
And a roll of duct-tape

taxi4ballet · 28/09/2014 14:46

Barre, pilates mat and tennis ball here too, and wooden massage thingy, Boots cooling foot spray, Nurofen gel, calamine lotion, tiara, nail varnish remover pads, Underground map...

It's beginning to dawn on me why I have no money!

Picturesinthefirelight · 28/09/2014 12:19

Yes, I didn't count the portable barre, gym may, wobble board & resistance bands as they mostly stay at home. Plus a tennis ball (Lisa Howell flexibility massage needs one, towel & massage cream.

nerdita · 28/09/2014 12:05

Yes, all that and more as we have five DC who all dance.
Plus mine do acro dance and we have associated gym equipment like pedestal stands, mats, portable barre, that sort of thing. Four different dance schools means lots of leotards, uniform and equipment.

dancestomyowntune · 27/09/2014 19:24

donastcolombe · 26/09/2014 10:14

Mine is 17, and wanted a dance career until about a year ago. She now keeps up practically all the training she was doing for semi-professional dance 'for fun' Hmm

KatyMac · 24/09/2014 19:48

After reflection I have decided on 'too much'

Remember she does Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballroom,Latin & African seriously and Salsa, Capoeira, Rock'n'Roll, Disco, Flamenco & other Latin/Caribbean (like Merengue, Brazilian Samba) casually

dancemom · 24/09/2014 15:24

Dd is 8

Ballet shoes
Tap shoes
Jazz shoes in Black and Tan
Highland shoes
Stunt shoes
Hip hop shoes

Leotard x loads!
Cat suit
Shorts and t shirts galore!
Tights for ballet
Tights for jazz

Swords
Baton
Poms

And that's just on a weekly basis if there are shoes or competitions or exams then that's a whole other bag!

Picturesinthefirelight · 24/09/2014 15:19

Mine is 12.

KatyMac · 24/09/2014 14:42

My DD is 14.

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/09/2014 13:31

Wow, how old are they all? DD is 8 and still on one leotard, one character skirt and ballet / tap / character shoes plus assorted socks and tights. I am feeling a bit nervous reading all this.

taxi4ballet · 24/09/2014 13:27

Is anyone else's car full of hair pins, hair bands, empty water bottles, crumbs, hair brushes, maps and hastily-scrawled directions to unlikely towns?

KatyMac · 24/09/2014 11:49

You really don't want to know.....

taxi4ballet · 23/09/2014 21:32

Congrats to your dd Pictures!

Picturesinthefirelight · 23/09/2014 13:19

Dd has finally got approval for a pointe fitting next week so we are about to add a whole lot of extra stuff to the kit list!

taxi4ballet · 23/09/2014 11:31

Oh yes, and I forgot - under dd's bed is a bag full of her old dead pointe shoes that she refuses to part with (and that I will take ribbons off to recycle at some point) - getting on for 30 pairs of the darn things!
