For a workshop he's going to. I don't know why as all the sessions are being held in schools which presumably have plenty of music stands.

We have one at home and it's not the portable type. Can I have a recommendation for a type of music stand a slight 8yo will (a) be able to carry and (b) not knock over at the slightest breath or otherwise break/trap his fingers in.

Just get a cheap one. THe steel ones are pretty stable it's the expensive lightweight aluminium ones ( like mine !) blow over if you look at them funny!

I was going to say he'll probably loose it, but I'm still using the one I got for my birthday 40yrs ago. My dad engraved my maiden name on it , which is always funny at groups as noone knows it's me, and one wing nut has gone but it's OK otherwise!

I got one from amazon for £7.95

It is a collapsible one and comes in a bag with a shoulder strap
