DD has a place at college!!!! I am a very happy (& potentially permanently broke) mummy - I did my own little dance when I found out!

She got a place on the 3 yr diploma at Italia Conti!!

Funding (DaDA) needs to be applied for and is by no means certain, so she might not go!!

But she got a place!!! I am so, so proud!!! can you tell?

Yipee!!!

The shop lady said DD had 'lovely strong feet' but her separated toes are a bit of an issue & post fitting she is already in a better position over her toe; massive, massive success!!

It's worth hunting for the right pointe shoes. DD has some which fit beautifully (but still wreck her feet).

I just drove 200 miles (round trip) to buy new pointe shoes & even with petrol I barely spent more than I did locally!!!

And they fit so much better!!!

Noooo KatyMac. I thought I had got out of the cycle of school shoes, ballet shoes, tap shoes, character shoes, jazz shoes, trainers, ghillies, pointe shoes, soft blocks, etc etc, so I just had to buy as they wore out :(

OK the potentially broke bit hit today

We got the uniform list for Italia Conti; I have to say even if she gets a scholarship/DaDA we will struggle to afford this BlushSad

But no decisions yet

No - she has every right to celebrate her achievements. And you do too.

The overly humble don't do well in performance arts - you need to be able to tell people why you are so special.

We can all celebrate our children's successes whatever they may be: from a noble prize to a level 1 qualification in basic literacy, if they've worked for it then they have achieved. And KatyMac your daughter hasn't exactly had everything handed to her on a plate.

Re 'gloating'- My Ds1 (age 13) has recently been selected for a 'development player programme' with a Premiership rugby team (basically a 'rugby academy')- He shows huge potential for the future. I couldnt sit on my hands with it and gloated to everyone. Why not? we should SCREAM about their achievements!

Its not 'showing off' - its showing how proud you are- and lets not forget, all the time and financial sacrifices you have to make as a parent to help them get where they are- I think that does warrant a 'Look at us- see where we are'

Best of luck to you KM and to any other parent in similar positions.

I suppose it's hard to be excited and pleased for DD without coming across as gloating

I'm not; and if they (or their parents were enthusing over a high science achievement or atheltics result (something DD would never achieve) I hope I'd be pleased & do a happy dance for them

But I can't not be enthusiastic about this because others can't or won't apply, can I?
