I'm starting a children's art club...how much would you pay?

Hello...I qualified as a primary school teacher 8 years ago but have returned to being a self employed artist (something I'd done for many years before).

Anyway, I'd like to combine my love of art and children but don't really know how much to charge.

The club will be for an hour after school or during holiday times with all materials provided. I'd love to hear what you think....

Depends where you are as well, I suppose. A woman ran similar at our school for £5 a session. I think parents considered it a bit expensive.

I think 10 sessions up front could be a big ask too. Could you break it down into two chunks?

I'd say £3/4 - but depends on what you're doing and how much attention each child gets. I'd really like my DC to go to a drawing/technique art club where they learn to develop their skills with a talented artist. Not just a sort of messy cutting and sticking and glueing art club that I could do at home. I also think an hour might not be long enough...

Well you need to work out how much it's going to cost you. You need to cover costs. A parent did something similar at my school. Think she was charging around 3/4 pounds.
What age range/how many kids.
With lower primary you can only cope with around 6 at a time. A few more as they get older and more skilled.

Oh...and I'd need to ask for a term's (10 weeks) fee up front but could charge a bit more for a drop in or one off..
