How much do you pay for swimming lessons?

Just wondered really as have just enrolled my 2 in lessons 10 weeks for £75 each. Wondered if this was good bad or normal. Only wondered as it is more expensive than gymnastics which is renowned for being an expensive hobby.

10 x 30 mins lessons £41 at local leisure centre. DS gets a pass with that entitling him to free leisure swimming at all other times (with a paying adult as he's not 8 yet).

When DS was at a swimclub basildonbond we only paid about £50 a term and that was for up to 5 swims a week.

usually about £60 for half hour lesson a term, depending how long the term is. It is cheaper if you are a member of the leisure centre.

Ours are expensive, but small groups. £8 or near as damn it per half hour lesson, but only 3 in DD's group, 6 in DS's and the teaching is amazing, they learnt to swim very quickly with this new school and adore the teachers who are real stars, so I would not begrudge them it, as my children (previously terrified) now love the water and are learning to be safe.

Huge waiting list for the school, you have to fight to get a place, so on the basis of supply and demand, the pricing fits the market!

£14 for half hour 1-1. DD used to do the group 6-1 sessions at about £3/4 for half hour but thought she'd be better in 1-1 as easily distracted. It has made a big difference. From swimming very little, though stayhing afloat, she can do front crawl/back stroke & breast stroke and has started to do a standing 'dive' all since about May. Sorry you didn't want the low down on my dd's swimming but am pleased with her progress. We are moving abroad in a few weeks and wanted her to be confident as i'm not sure if/when she will be able to have lessons.

DD has only had the free term of lessons at school so far, but I'm hoping to get her into lessons soon.
They are £35 for 10 according to the leaflet I have here. I'd presume that's half hour lessons.

my dd's wswim club is £3.40 per session of 45 minutes - then a yearly membership - but dd2 is the member and I think it is around £40 oer year

but this is for a session every single week

I only pay £65 for tri club abd that is two hours every other week/26 weeks of the year one hour swimming though only freestyle and one hour running and bike - value IMO

£48 for 10 lessons; a private instructor in a school pool. Sometimes there are only three or four in a class.

Our local Leisure Centre charges way more.

I pay by DD.
£22 per month for one half hour lesson per week. Works out at £5 per half hour. This is the local coucil pool in a group of between 4-8 children.

it seems my instinct was right and it is a little steep.
people rave about her lessons and she seems to get results so I will give it a go, but as soon as my dd turns 5 in march she can swim with local swim club, so maybe won't be too bad for the short term.

My dd's swimming has come on amazingly. The one on one lessons have been worth every penny.

Here is is £7.00/half an hour in a group lesson of 8-10 kids.
It is rubbish and takes 2 years x 3 terms at £70 per term before they seem to learn anything.

I am tempted by the private lesson to get it all done with for much less.

10 in a class for swimming seems far to many?

Unless you are talking squad level or just below? Then you could well have 20 in the pool and two instructors

DD has solo lessons at £20 an hour.

10 in the group for £75 seems very steep. In fact, 10 in the group sounds like a lot... unless there are a couple of teachers.

It is a privately hired pool that belongs to someones house. There are about 10 in a class.
I think I will go with it for now and put their names down for the local sports centre don't hold my breath though to get a place
