6k run
8k walk
Bounce class (45 mins)

28,100 steps

I’ve never even thought about breathing during running, I mean obviously I breathe but just in whatever way comes naturally! I’ve never counted breaths or anything, I didn’t know I was supposed to! Does it help?

According to my coach, it does. I can't recall the scientific explanation, but it's supposed to give you a bit of a boost when you're running.

Completed the class, 45 minutes. Extremely tired legs for some reason. 126

I'm booked in for Pilates tomorrow. Still hoping for a Zumba cancellation.

As an autistic runner, people who are just breathing with no actual pattern relating to their steps mystify me. I start out at 4 steps in 4 steps out and have various escalations from that. The only one that is random is a flat out sprint, I'm too busy flailing limbs and just let the breathing happen.

I'm not saying I'm right, it's just the tism be like that for me!

I only started the breathing after our coach stressed its importance, I admit.
My only official diagnosis is OCD [30 yrs ago]. A HCP asked whether I by any chance had ASD and ADHD...

I did speak to my GP who merely smiled and said "What's normal?"

FWIW, younger family members have had formal diagnoses. Our older family members were merely "quiet", "shy", "set in their ways" and "didn't like change".

A cousin's grandson was told by his uni that his school diagnosis of dyslexia wasn't good enough - he had to speak to their chap. He went in with dyslexia and came out with dyslexia and ADHD. "How on earth did you get your A levels?" he was asked.

"I worked really hard," he answered. He got a first.

Right. Heading to Cowdenbeath for Musical Theatre Fitness shortly.

@stilldumdedumming I'm booked in Musical Theatre Fitness for tomorrow, and shall try to make myself use the gym as well.

@BezMills I have never attempted the wobble thing, though I admire those that do. I did, however, manage to "run" [jog/]umber] on the treadmill at 6.1kph on Wednesday whilst doing my "Look at me, I'm a real runner!" arm movements and without falling on my arse, so I'm counting that as a win.

Mind you, the folk on the adjacent treadmills possibly thought I'd flipped with my "In-In-Out!" breathing technique.

20m cheesy walking video plus wall pressups.

@WearyAuldWumman at times like this I try to leaning to classes because once I’m booked I have to go, and doing something and not feeling it for me is better than doing nothing.

i had an easy Pilates class today. Lovely! And then a freebie reformer class. Also ace.

Ah it's hard when stupid Real Life (two four-letter words if ever there was) gets in the way of gymming and classes and general fitting about.

I got in the gym yesterday, but spent half of it chatting (I am prone to this!). I did some sets of deadlift at quite low weight and then went quite heavy on the bench. Then got the wobble thing out and did some stability work which is mainly the big and small muscles in the lower leg and foot. A little go on the monkey bars at which point I discovered that my hands are as soft as my face. If my face was soft!

Had a medical procedure this morning so felt quite weird. Wore my weighted vest when I went out for a walk with DC (33 mins). It all adds up, right?

It does indeed.

Hope you make a good recovery from the procedure.

Really not feeling it at the moment - real life problems have been messing with my head.

Did a few minutes on the SPARC machine this morning and then 45 minute Senior Flex class - quite a lot of upper body work. Feeling it at the moment.

Apparently, Running Club has the go ahead for another block, but I'm a bit peeved - as part of the publicity, the bigwig has misquoted at least two of us. I am somewhat peeved.

stilldumdedumming · 21/08/2026 20:32

@MummyInTheNecropolis that would definitely count in my world. Fast or not.

I had a lower body class - quads and calves- loved it!
And a quick lunchtime swim. Just 40x 25m. Some very odd lane etiquette contraventions.

Bounce class (45 mins)
Fair bit of walking, not really fast enough to count as proper exercise but a lot of it was up steep hills!

20,000 steps

stilldumdedumming · 20/08/2026 15:43

Sorry I’ve been awol but still exercising. I’m at 208

BezMills · 20/08/2026 06:30

Had my Boxercise class last night, with 9 people. That's huge for the Wednesday class, I was well chuffed. We have a couple of participants who are running the local (hilly as all heck) marathon for charity, so I've said I'll sell some of my stock of spare gloves and give the money to the cause. I buy gloves on vinted and ebay, when they're a good price, can't really help myself. Might have a small vinted addiction but that's by the by!

Also earlier in the day I had a nice chat with the hiring manager at the cooncil gyms group. I'm hoping to cover Anna Sensei's Combat class when she's off, and they're keen to give me a slot of my own down the line - but first I have to get through the points based application filter - and he gave me some pointers there. So I came away from that quite encouraged and then spent a while going through the fairly thorough LA application form (the same one for a casual gym instructor as for head of social care by the look of it!).

All I ever wanted when I did my Les Mills initial module 4 years ago, was for Anna and I to be colleagues and share the Combat classes. When I got shit-canned by the gym years ago, I really thought it was all over for my BodyCombat teaching. So, to have a chance of teaching it again, even occasionally, I'm well chuffed.

Alittlefrustrated · 19/08/2026 23:52

Coastal walk - distance hasn't recorded but it was over 20000 steps, so reasonable. Got drenched in a thunder storm.
Didn't sleep last night due to bilateral knee and elbow pain. These weren't bad once walking but by the end my hip had me waddling.
Very strange for everything to flare up like this.
I'm a big believer in keeping moving though. 139.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 19/08/2026 22:31

5k run
Loads of walking
Shesensu class (45 mins)

23.200 steps

FurForksSake · 19/08/2026 21:02

I did ten minutes of exercise bike time before work and then my 25 minute strength work out after work. The strength was 3 rounds of
standing rows
bicep curls
weighted glute bridges
and raised clam things.
i managed to do all of it and keep going for the full 40ish seconds. It flew bye quicker than the warm up and cool down!

im trying to do the cycling most mornings and building up to twenty minutes and the strength routines four times a week.

While I was struggling through my twenty minutes dh and ds1 were busting it up and down a lake with their dragon boat crew as though it was nothing. We are definitely in a mixed fitness ability family, but I keep trying!

Senior Flex, 45 minutes. Usual mix of cardio, stretches, squats, upper body work with weights. Some lower body with bands.

At Active for Life, just used the treadmill. 2 minute warm-up; 20 minutes jogging/running 6.1 kph; 5 minute cool down. Stretches.

24 mins HIIT and abs yesterday. Now my knee hurts - serves me right for jumping around too much TSK!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 18/08/2026 23:13

5k walk
Barre class (45 mins)
Pump it up class (45 mins)

Am slowly increasing the weights I use at pump it up. Today I used 2 7kg dumbbells for lunges and then 1 14kg dumbbell for goblet squats and weighted bridges. I think I’m going to order a pair of 8s to use at home now.

20,300 steps

FurForksSake · 18/08/2026 23:00

@Alittlefrustrated I have to say my knees are a lot better having lost significant weight. My hips are a lost cause. As is my back.

im wondering if I can count two hours of wheel throwing ceramics as exercise? I was exhausted afterwards.

60 x25m swim
138.
Having problems with my knees. I'm going to have to make the effort and lose some weight or I'll be needing 2 new knees,as well as hips 🙁

BezMills · 18/08/2026 14:48

Boxercise last night, had 12 which is a great headcount in the mid summer. Did a good mix of training and skills (I hope) then did my classic of "I saw this on the internet yesterday so we're doing it now". Bonus points because it was a Tom Morrison one. Then we did Sally Up with a mix of squats and lunges.

Today J was picking me up to go to Cardio Combat and his first words were 'that exercise wrecked me' - kaching, well pleased with that report!

Combat was brilliant, I feel fine this week so gave it big beans and pushed the boat out a bit. I am just going to fix up my kit bags so we're ready for next Monday's boxercise and revel in being a bit organised and on top of things for a change.
