Inspiring and amazing @Comtesse

I was just thinking this morning as I'm on day 13 of failing to get to the gym, I can't let that stop me.

It's that all or nothing mentality of "oh I can't get away for a proper gym sesh, might as well admit defeat and do nothing at all".

Bearing in mind I have a pullup bar, kettle bells, various giant "laccie bands" ab roller, gym rings etc etc. and a park gym 3 minutes walk from my front door...

I did sort out my office a bit so there is space to do some bodyweight exercises and went for a nice walk after school drop off on Tuesday, so not an absolute completely lost week. But still quite unsatisfactory. I'm solo parenting next weekend so I best get a shimmy on where I can before then!

stilldumdedumming · 07/03/2026 20:59

@ComtesseA huge win!

@Alittlefrustrated sounds lovely! Did Ylu have the weather?

No! But good company makes up for that.
90 mins contemporary dance class.
50/300.
Got an active day planned for tomorrow, if all goes to plan 😊

WearyAuldWumman · 07/03/2026 12:10

Managed to get a cancellation for the Saturday morning pilates class. 45 minutes.

It's a bit more challenging than the Monday class and I can feel my sore bits already. This is only the second time that I've managed to get a booking for it.

500 would not be mad at all, congratulations!!!!

Just did 23 mins Fit by Mik video on YT. That marks a WHOLE YEAR of exercising every day.

365 days in a row. Some days just three minutes, other days could be up to 3 hours, but day after day after day. I can hardly believe it but apparently I AM the kind of person who can sustain an exercise habit.

Looking forward to my work medical in 10 days to see what impact this might have had on my results!

One of my knees is a bit weird now so taking it easy. I’m very lucky that I haven’t been injured or unwell. Maybe I’m going to try for 500 days now. Would that be mad?

@sharkstale the only person noticing the state of your ass is going to be you. However, I totally get it and it’s great to have something to aim for. Also exercise is great for mood and to give you more energy and so you’ll enjoy the holiday even more for being a bit more fit and toned!

@sharkstale well done! Sounds like you’ve had some great sessions.

Be kind to yourself with the weight loss, it’s often a lot slower than we’d like! Aim for 1/2 or 1/4 a stone and then you can be pleasantly surprised if it’s more.

Okay, thank you, I'll take that on board. I just feel really insecure and am quietly dreading how I'll look on holiday if I don't do something about it by then. I'll adjust my expectations so as not to disappoint myself and aim for 1/2 a stone and a toned bum 😂

Alittlefrustrated · 06/03/2026 21:32

9 mile walk along the coast
49/300

I received my scales yesterday and am quite horrified to discover I weigh around a stone more than I expected, I'm 10.5 which is the heaviest I've ever been at only 5'4". Carrying mostly around my stomach and hips, and really need to tone my bum. Last night and this morning during baby's nap, I done some exercises with a resistance band focusing on glutes, and today went for my first run. I have a holiday booked for end of next month so my target is to lose a stone and tone up by then.

Would this give me a 3?

WinterFrogs · 06/03/2026 19:56

@stilldumdedumming I've made it sound like an extreme sport haven't I!
The boring reality is: livestock. The wet winter means we have muddier gateways than most years, and I've found myself clambering up the banks to drier areas to avoid being extra stuck in the mud when carrying water buckets ( sadly no refillable troughs)

WearyAuldWumman · 06/03/2026 13:58

Woke at 4. Back to sleep and slept through alarm…

Active for Life - only time for 5 min HIIT warm up , max speed 7.1kph.

Side raises, 6kg, 4x6.

Used two 3.7kg weights for upper body and legs at 45 min senior flex class.

Sore shoulders and thighs, but good sore.

@WinterFrogs I’m intrigued!! Would it be outing to tell us more? What on earth are you doing?!

I had a group class for lower body. It’s kind of morphing from resistance to pump. Which is ok really. But wow!

WinterFrogs · 06/03/2026 12:24

That sounds very worthwhile @FurForksSake but hope for your sake ( and your bank balance) that you and your wetsuit can get back to aquafit soon!

I used to sea swim but now satisfy the urge with a daily cold shower. I'm not completely mad; I do the hairwash etc in warm water then turn it cold for two mins. There are supposed health benefits and I really love the buzz afterwards. It took me a while to build up to it and I still can't say I enjoy it like I did the cold swimming but it's quick and easy. Touching wood frantically but I think it's helped my immune system. That and a bit of Wim Hof breathing.

Still on 6 but I've done 3k steps, some of them in ankle deep mud and climbing up and down banks and carrying water buckets ( this is why I need to be fit!)

FurForksSake · 06/03/2026 11:36

Yes, hydro is with a 121 specialist physio, she’s amazing but it costs me a fortune! It’s in a special 35 degree pool in a very, very posh care home.

I love aqua fit and when I’m recovered and rehabbed enough I’ll probably seek one out. But I’m a scrawny bird and will need a wetsuit to manage in a normal pool!

Aqua is so good for exercise.

WinterFrogs · 06/03/2026 11:33

Crikey @FurForksSake ! Dumbells in water? You are hardcore! I was thinking of joining an aqua fit class- is hydrotherapy a private thing?

FurForksSake · 06/03/2026 09:12

Hydrotherapy yesterday, and I managed not to make my shoulder worse. Which is an actual miracle. I go for my hips and back and so there are exercises which are for my core which involve floats / balls / dumbbells and I’ve found I can’t do those as my left shoulder ends up in insane pain.

But I managed and things aren’t any worse. I need to slowly start using my exercise bike every day. So I’m going to try and commit to three sessions before next Friday.

I'm plodding on. Have been consistently doing some extra on top of usual activity levels sonce I first posted on 1st March so I will say 6
3lb down since stopping eating sweets and crisps. Feeling more energetic as a result.

Today I have done a ten min stretch and squats routine that my physio gave me last year which includes use of resistance bands.

I hope to be back to report on whether I've achieved the long walk that I'm planning later.

WickedGoodDoge · 06/03/2026 07:28

60 minutes of cardio (bike and rower) on Wed then 30 mins Mind and 45 minutes of Pump yesterday. I take Friday off but tomorrow am planning on getting up at the crack of dawn and heading up to Arrochar to tackle Beinn Ime.

I now mainly discuss training on here and with people at the gym. I'd like to say that I'm surprised at people warning me not to overdo it, but...

I have to say that my in-laws have been very encouraging.
