Hello All, please can I join in?
Have built a regular, if sometimes too comfortable, daily exercise practice, but want to stay accountable too, and make sure its not all yin, without enough yang!
Off to read through, after bedtime yoga with kassandra, day 10.

FurForksSake · 09/05/2026 20:02

Hilly walk and the allotment.

This week has been a bit disorganised so have been doing 20 mins of yoga and stretching before bed. Not challenging but it’s nice to wind down and keeps the streak alive (428).

WearyAuldWumman · 08/05/2026 21:59

A brief walk to and from church, which I really can't count.

Good thing: that walk used to take me much longer. I can now do it in 10 minutes each way.

Alittlefrustrated · 08/05/2026 21:44

6 mile walk
91/300

MummyInTheNecropolis · 08/05/2026 19:52

6km walk to work
5km walk home (took a shortcut)!
Back and bicep workout - 35 mins
Yoga - 15 mins

23,600 steps

MummyInTheNecropolis · 07/05/2026 19:40

Just walking today, was planning a run but had a bad nights sleep last night and then a long day of work training so didn’t feel up to it. Managed 3 x 30 min walks though (part way home from work and then to/from the shops and polling station).

18,300 steps.

1 hr pilates at home, using ring, roller, and added some upper body body bar work. I'm hoping to do this at least 3 times a week.
46 x25m swim
90/300

BezMills · 07/05/2026 15:42

Couple (cough) years back, at a sprightly 46, was feeling it in my legs doing 6-8 classes a week! Like constantly heavy and overtrained, but I just loved the classes.
It's definitely OK to take a wee rest or skip some stuff.
They say and I expect it's true, you don't get stronger just by training, it's the resting after the training that makes you stronger.

WearyAuldWumman · 07/05/2026 00:12

The local gym is being used as the main centre for the election count, so classes have been disrupted.

To be honest, I think that I needed today off: I think that I'm too old for what I've been doing - Sunday Body Balance, Monday Pilates, Tuesday Musical Theatre Fitness/Stretching (plus gym for Monday and Tuesday). The legs have been suffering.

I keep telling myself that the trainers are managing several classes a day at least 5 days a week, but (apart from one) they're all a lot younger than I am.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 06/05/2026 23:55

6km walk
Cardio workout 30 mins
3km walk
Pilates class 1 hour

22,700 steps

Alittlefrustrated · 06/05/2026 21:59

55 mins pilates class
Qigong class
89/300
Should of been a morning swim as well, but when I got there they were digging up the carpark. It's all yellow lines round about. I hung around but there were just more and more cars turning up. To top it off I'll be getting an email telling me off for not turning up to a booked activity!

Alittlefrustrated · 05/05/2026 22:47

60 mins pilates and body bar at home
88/300

WearyAuldWumman · 05/05/2026 21:09

2 minute bike warm up followed by 3 brief sets on the lat pull - 26 kg. Ditto triceps. Only had time for one set of biceps curls.

Musical Theatre Fitness Class - 45 minutes
Stretch Class - 30 minutes.

Pump it up class (1 hour) (full body with dumbbells)

28,600 steps altogether

We went to jousting. This included two 30 minute walks and a huge amount of standing. Dh got short shrift as he thought he knew best when exiting. I told him we needed to go left and through the walled garden. But alas and alack I allowed him to navigate us and we had to walk the whole way up to and around the house and out. My back is in bits. I’ve just had an hour in a scalding hot Epsom salts bath with my special body pillow.

Today: 2 minute warm-up followed by shoulder press and chest fly. I'm going for heavier weight and lower number of reps.

45 minute Pilates class. It seems so much more manageable after Body Balance...

22,300 steps so far

Yes @WearyAuldWumman it can be quite difficult to get the training you want at the time you want when you have to negotiate what's available and what's practical. I've really missed BodyCombat and have managed to book a class over the water in the early evening, before I go to a gig.

Unfortunately there wasn't one the next morning, else I would have done that too! I'm looking forward to seeing another instructor teaching and hopefully can have a quick chat and a selfie afterwards. I do love my BodyCombat tourism! I've done guest appearances at classes in Glenrothes, Kirkintilloch, Bournemouth and Edinburgh so far, and this week will add Southampton to the list.I'm up in Glasgow in September so definitely will be looking for one in the centre while I'm up.

WearyAuldWumman · 04/05/2026 11:52

Good to see you back, @BezMills - was wondering how you were.

I've had to go through to Cowdenbeath to get into a BB class. They're always full at the MW.

That's only my second session. I'm finding it helluva difficult - as you suggest, the transitions are really fast (and I'm not).

I got myself a knee pad from Amazon and that's helped a bit, but...I'm in agony today and I have Pilates here at 4... Never thought I'd say it, but the Pilates is so much easier. (Mind you, it's only a basic class.)

Plus, the new floor in the Cowden studio is great for dance classes but my mat had difficulty coping yesterday. The new floor at the MM is rubberised - great for Pilates, etc but draggy for dance.

It wasn't until the second week of BB that I realised that "Shine!" was an instruction for a move...

There's actually a young girl at the class who's doing it in spite of using a crutch - like me, she's having to miss out some stuff, of course.

I've been womanfully attempting the Downward Dog, but when it then goes into "Now lift a leg...now an arm..."

God bless her, the lassie in charge of the class gave me a hug at the end yesterday.

I'm not spacing out the classes the way I should be - I'm having to go with the timetable, so I have BB on Sunday morning, Pilates 4 pm on a Monday and then Musical Theatre Fitness followed by Stretch on a Tuesday morning. I'm not sure I can keep this up. The fact that I did a full set of leg exercises on Friday is probably not helping.

I probably need those supplements that not one single one of those muscular female influencers with teeth gaps* is taking.

Yes, I can understand that if you\ve not been able to do your crossfit, it'll have a negative effect. On non-training days, I can't be bothered to leave the house sometimes.

One of the reasons for taking BB on the Sunday was to force me to leave the house...but I don't know that my knees (and thumbs - Downward Dog?) can take it. Even if I do the same as some of the women and use two mats, that won't help the thumbs - must be the strain of holding up my weight that's the problem.

Knowing what we know about you, Bez, I'd say that the early mornings would be to your benefit.

*At least Arnie admitted to it. [It was my man who explained about the tooth gap to me. Also the water blisters. He was involved in a weightlifting club in Banchory many years ago and went ballistic when he discovered that another instructor had been dispensing 'sweeties'.]

Hello @BezMills back on the case!
Sounds like hardcore gardening @FurForksSake yikes Flowers
Yesterday did a 5min HIIT then 22m weighted vest walk.

BezMills · 04/05/2026 07:44

Nice one @WearyAuldWumman I did quite enjoy BodyBalance whenever I did it. Could never keep up during the yoga flow tracks to be fair. "okay let's go archer 3, sunfish 1, back to warrior 7, and archer 3 again". I'm just windmilling my arms with my legs in some random half lunge half triconasana pose.

I've had a proper cob on these last weeks, just haven't had the mojo for training at all since I stopped the crossfits at the end of January. I got up quite early today and got up to the park gym and did 'something'. Always start with 'something' I say!

I feel like getting up the park early doors is the way to go at the moment. Start the day with some daylight and a wee bit of exercise and hopefully feel the benefit!

WearyAuldWumman · 03/05/2026 20:03

Body balance class. 45 minutes
