20 mins motown dance workout. That was very nice of you @WearyAuldWumman to cheer on the others - a good deed for sure!

WearyAuldWumman · 10/10/2026 18:31

Drove to the car park closest to Riverside Park start line.

Walked down the hill, spoke to the officials and checked where was best to stand to clap and cheer.

Cheered in most of the runners and then saw our coach going to the line - he yelled for me to meet him there. Then positioned myself where he told me - he wanted to photograph the other women coming in.

As I was waiting for them, two (unknown) people whom I'd cheered in thanked me. One young was kind enough to say that I'd got her through the last straight - which was nice.

The running club did brilliantly. The woman closest in age to me is in the 60-64 category and she came in just after 45 minutes.

Photographs were taken and I walked back up the hill to the car park. That nearly did for me. Think it's going to take a while to get back to training - breathing was the issue.

6.6 mile walk with some decent gradients. It was a guided history walk and very enjoyable.

stilldumdedumming · 09/10/2026 23:22

Just flying by. I am exceptionally busy but back in some kind of routine. I will need to get back for chats.

62 x 25m swim
156.

Comtesse · 07/10/2026 23:55

Keep trucking everyone. Worked like a loon today (like 15 hours today) so all I could manage was 20 mins of anti stress yoga.

Hope you are ok @WearyAuldWumman and on the mend soon - I’d be using tons of arnica cream after a fall, buckets of it !

WearyAuldWumman · 07/10/2026 14:39

Hope it gets sorted quickly.

i know that we've had gym classes here held up because the whole signing off process took so long.

ETA I think that the PGV for school just involves checking for a police record. Unfortunately, that's not really enough to catch someone with ill intent working in schools.

The PGV check does take aaaages though - we had a nightmare one time, being unable to organise a teacher for a shortage subject when we had someone able and ready to start... We finished up paying them to organise the work and send it in to the school to be delivered by cover staff.

I think the one for the cooncil is a wee bit more in-depth than my basic DBS which took like 3 days. This one has already been going 10 days and I'm on step 3 of 5 so far. I'm no bothered by having to do it, it's just hard to be patient!

WearyAuldWumman · 07/10/2026 14:33

Finishing to the Rocky theme? Brilliant!

From what I've heard from the trainers at Michael Woods, it's always the paperwork that holds things up. It was the same in teaching. It used to be DBS, but at some point that changed to PVG. (Mind you, it doesnae always stop the bad yins...We've had a few in Fife.)

BezMills · 07/10/2026 14:29

They'd be delighted to see you at the finish line @WearyAuldWumman

This past Sunday was the local marathon. A particularly hilly bastard of a course, with a long unrelenting hill at the end which only flattens out for the last 1000m. I had two of my participants in the race, and was there at the end with the bluetooth speaker blasting the Rocky instrumental to run them in. I promised them chips and drinks, which were received with gratitude.

As for my wee side hustle side hustle with the cooncil gym, I'm just going through all the DBS etc, it's taking ages but just a matter of time before I'm on the books. As soon as I'm kosher to get involved, I hope to lead a couple of tracks in the regular class to get back in the game. I'll be covering the class regularly in the near future and am really looking forward to that. I do enjoy being a participant but leading the class is something else and I've really missed it. I've not taught a class since september 23 so it's been a minute!

WearyAuldWumman · 07/10/2026 12:47

@BezMills

Thanks, neebs. A did a better twist than yon Tam Daley comin aff the diving board... It's amazing what you can do when you realise you're about to land on a slug!

Still sore in places - and bruised in some really weird places - but I don't think I broke anything. Genuinely annoyed at my own stupidity.

I was always prone to falling, thanks to the flat feet and dodgy knees and I've not had a tumble since I started back at the gym. Running doonstairs wi yer bauchled shin only half oan is not a good idea.

I can recommend Woodside Co-op for deliveries: very prompt - better than Morrison's or Asda's!

The shingles pain has mainly gone and I can breathe much more easily now, so that's good. I'm thinking of messaging the Running Club trainer to say that I'll go to Riverside to cheer the other women over the line on Saturday.

WearyAuldWumman · 06/10/2026 12:54

Still laid up with flu, but hoping I'm past the peak.

Texted the Running Club to say that I can't do Parkrun on Saturday. Was hoping I could be at the finish line to cheer on the other women, but I'm having my doubts.

Grrrrr.

Comtesse · 06/10/2026 10:15

20mins of different toning exercises this morning - keeping on keeping on!

Alittlefrustrated · 05/10/2026 22:04

30 x 25m swim - short but better than nothing
155.

Comtesse · 04/10/2026 11:39

31 minutes of cheesy walking videos. Plus about 50 minutes cycling too, that was good.

Alittlefrustrated · 03/10/2026 17:18

70 x 25m swim
154.

Comtesse · 03/10/2026 12:01

20 mins yoga last night.

WearyAuldWumman · 02/10/2026 23:18

@stilldumdedumming The Running Club is supposed to be doing Parkrun next week...If I still feel like this I won't be doing it. Hope this is just a cold coming to a head. I've noticed some more bruising coming out which is a bit weird, since I fell on Monday - wouldn't have expected it to take this long.

stilldumdedumming · 02/10/2026 19:52

Blimey @WearyAuldWummango easy now!

I have some lovely swims. And finally back in the gym. Only been away 2 weeks. Feels like forever!

Alittlefrustrated · 02/10/2026 15:32

7 mile walk - pleased with that

WearyAuldWumman · 01/10/2026 23:08

Monday, Openreach installed the new system. Idiot features here fell her length down the front door steps, rushing to the bin - slipped out of a trainer...

Tuesday, attended Musical Theatre Fitness, 45 minutes. Too sore to risk the mat for stretch. 148

Yesterday, managed to get to SeniorFlex, 45 minutes. Another 45 minutes at Running Club. Only did stretches and a 20 minute veeeery slow run. 149

No training today. Still trying to remove old wiring and have an annoying head cold.
