@Nsmum14 glad these threads have been useful for you- do join in with the chat! I have been banned from the fb group- I have no idea why- I am relieved not to have to read all the arse licking chatter though . 🤣 on the old days of that group people actually discussed weight lifting- don’t think that happens any more. I think it is just a way for her to promote her business.

Agree yes, way too samey. Which is why I'm glad that Fuel is being released at the moment, it seems to be it's own thing, if only for the change of pace.
That's great that you're all looking into other platforms together, there's so much to chose from, hard to know where to start. I first heard of CG thanks to your threads on mumsnet years ago.
As most of you, Caroline's training, specially youtube, have been great for my body. I came from an athletics background, middle distance, which I essentially left parked while I had and breastfed 3 children, but had never lifted weights. The body recomposition these last 2 years has been quite surprising!
Started with 3kg, 4kg, went up to 6kg, then 8kg, and I'm currently at 10kg which is starting to feel light on many exercises. So still pretty much a beginner I guess.
Just wanted to thank you for the various girvan threads on here over the years, which I've been quietly paying attention too. The chat has been helpful and amusing (I've also found certain regular posters on the Facebook group annoying, and blocked matchy matchy and woop woop! a while ago).

Can I join? Been working out with Caroline Girvan for 2 years now, I started with the epics which I loved, and got the app in January of this year. I was quite disappointed with the cgx programmes at first as I was used to working out with one set of weights, at a fast pace, my preferred style of training.
I have grown used to the app since, but this whole time I've been using youtube as often as her newer workouts.
But I'm really really enjoying the new fuel. I used to think 30min wasn't long enough for a complete workout, but it really seems to be with this series so far.

Welcome! We are also exploring other platforms as well. For me the app is very samey- basically the same moves- like having a dish that seems to be a bit different but is basically the same dish-
i need to start a new thread and re name it!

I’ve done a couple of days of fuel, and if I wasn’t so damn unfit right now, I wouldn’t be getting much out of it at all. It will do for now anyway until we move into the new house (which is still dragging on). I have been looking longingly at weight benches and new weights on Facebook marketplace as there should be room for some new kit in the new gaff. I think I will switch to one of the other programs then, as I need some muscle back. I’ll start running again for cardio. Those of you who hate lunges - do you have a swap? I might get a barbell and do some alternatives as every time I see a lunge heavy session my heart sinks and my bunions start throbbing in anticipation.

in other news, I am a couple of weeks into taking HRT and I feel like a new woman! I haven’t had a migraine since I started and I feel so much more chilled out, despite the current homelessness. I’m also sleeping better and not peeing as much. I presume it will take a couple of months to fully settle but it’s so nice to feel more like my normal self again. Hurray for hormones!

Good to hear the HRT is helping! It made a difference to me,
too.

Who is this Jasper?!

im a big fan of CGX but - but - constantly injured doing her workouts and I think it’d because of the rapid transitions. I have been doing lower key stuff from Peloton (cheap monthly if you avoid the bike) and seen better results and it feels easier.

Jasper MacDermot on you tube- he is great- I have had big strength gains in my upper body from him already and I certainly get out of breath and work hard. I feel worked but not beaten up.He does lots of really effective ab work - not crunch in sight either
I was thinking in the fuel arms yesterday that 90 second sets of rows was absolutely pointless. Jasper will do 40 seconds say but introduces row varieties that really challenge you- they are subtle tweaks but they work. With him j lush press 13.5 kg so yesterday’s 10kg didn’t seem that hard.

I have abandoned Jasper temporarily and am working through Sydney Cummings Program 75 which is 4 weeks and focused on strength, no cardio. I am finding it challenging as she wants you to lift heavy but each exercise is 3 sets with only 15 seconds rest between each.

It is refreshing working out with a different trainer and coming across slight tweaks to exercises you’re used to doing with CG that make quite a difference. The other day it was single leg RDL’s with a twist of the body at the bottom. Just a slight twist really made a difference. I know she’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I am really enjoying her Program 75. It’s 2 x upper, 2 x lower and 1x full body a week and all free on YouTube.

TessTickle0 · 16/09/2026 10:12

I started day 1 of fuel-enjoyed it and was sweaty when finished(which doesnt happen that often anymore for me just doing cgx strenght.
I remember thinking that I wasnt sure if I could manage a workout like that everytime..
Then I got ill and haven't done a workout in a week 🤧🥴
Im still not feeling 100% so think I will go back to the max programme that im halfway through and pick up fuel in a bit and see how I feel.
I will probably do a mix of the two programmes.
I plan on renewing my subscription in December, though I do hope she puts up more 10wk programmes next year...is it usually 3 she's done in the past?

A comment on the Fuel session about someone worried they would lose all their gains with the programme because it's more cardio than lifting
I did Day 1 today and didn't find it very hard, the weights were too light and my heart rate didn't get up as much as it does with the Intent and PE workouts I do, which have heavier weights and longer sets
I think it will be a good programme for conditioning and cardio and maybe maintaining muscle but I'm not sure there will be strength gains or much muscle built, it's good that the cardio reclaimers will now shut up as they have their programme
I will be dipping in but probably not following

That's my concern with it. I spent years getting sweaty and occasionally nauseous at gym classes - Combat, Attack, Pump etc. It did make me relatively fit, of course, but I never built any noticeable muscle - the first time in my life I really noticed proper muscle gain was doing CG.
I've got a nice routine going now of that and running, so I guess I could add in a Fuel here and there on a rainy day for some variety, but I couldn't be less interested in doing the whole thing.

BigButtons · 16/09/2026 07:12

How is everyone getting on? My last app subscription day today and that feels odd.
i tried the last two fuel days out of curiosity. They were ok and certainly quite sweaty at times but I didn’t feel particularly worked - reminds me exactly having the same feeling doing the you tube one. So I will go on to finish hero 2 and then I think I will do cyber pump and add a Caroline leg day.
my broken toe still hurts and my right glute is still pulled so lots of modifications needed.
what are you all up to? Any of you doing fuel?🙂

BigButtons · 08/09/2026 14:12

Been reading through the app comments- many are 🤢🥱. I thought about trying it out as I am due a Jasper upper body today big obviously push ups and a broken toe don’t mix so will have to see what Jasper has to over- chances are I will have to modify that as well. I had noticed that whoop whoop and Mrs whoop whoop were absent.

Sorry to hear about your toe!

Does Jasper incorporate cardio into his programmes? I love an amrap 😄 I've been following the Jasper chat with interest.

Yeah white a lot actually! Yesterdays was 8 sprawls and then 4 each side of clean to squats for 7 minutes- nearly killed me! He does loads of interesting moves. It doesn’t feel as intense as Caroline as far as volume is concerned but it is tough if you choose the rights weights. I have had real doms especially with the ab work- not a crunch in sight either!bsk basically he doesn’t trash you like Caroline but j am finding him equally effective results wise

Ok I guess I’m going to have to give this Jasper a go. Is he free on you tube?

TessTickle0 · 07/09/2026 08:39

I agree that I need cardio.
I hate doing it however so when I have to add it in to my workout schedule,I often cheat and find a reason not to do it thay day 🤣
So to do a program with it actually built into the strength workout is great and works best for me.
Im looking forward(kinda) to fuel and plan to start the leg day after work (should be my cardio day, so again..an excuse)
I tried HR but didnt like how she used to slice bits of her workouts together, so not done in real time.
Plus her weights where always lighter,or I wasnt really sure what weight to use.
I basically got bored and went back to CGX.
Man am I bored of rear delt flies though,I eye roll everytime I see them, and I will never like Bulgarians.
Going to try some jasper workouts like I said at some point, did have a quick look and was put off my the balcony space(silly I know)

I didn't like the spliced together HR workouts either. I think she did it for a few of the longer 12 week programmes on Youtube. Thankfully she doesn't do it on the app. I need to be able to see the trainer suffering along with me 😄.

Glad you enjoyed it @TessTickle0 !
well I did a Jasper lower body- I had had very little sleep and it was a very nasty amrap at the end- when stood up from the last set of sprawls I stubbed my toe on my 12.5 kg dumbbell and not it is black all over and I can’t walk on it properly - same foot I have Achilles issues with- hooray🫣

Oh have they slinked off again? Wonder why this time.
I did notice they hadn't commented and usually.they cant get on there fast enough whoop whoop.

whatwoulddexterdo · 08/09/2026 08:15

Ohh some unhappy people on the comments saying todays fuel is too rushed and can’t keep up with it and that they felt the video just had to finish at 30 mins
the comments only been there for 40 minutes though so I expect the poster will be banned imminently
Nice to see that other people have the space to comment as that space is not being dominated but the others! They are notoriously absent on the FB group too!

Enjoyed Day 1 of Fuel.I was sweaty and out of breath, which doesn't always happen with CGX workouts.
I simply refuse to do Bulgarians, I have nothing to rest my foot on that doesn't feel really uncomfortable so I just do some variation of a lunge.Bah Humbug.

AtomicBlondeRose · 07/09/2026 19:32

I’m going to do Fuel on the app. I don’t love the cardio stuff but I have super lazy over summer and I really think it’s a good way to get back in shape after a period of sloth. Plus 30 minutes suits me as the teaching term starts tomorrow and I get so knackered it’s good to not have to get up quite so early! Even dropping to bodyweight in the Bulgarians half killed me though so I really need a massive kick up the arse fitness-wise.
