DH and I have. Hoping it will keep me motivated and kickstart my half marathon training which has been non existent so far
Am aiming for a mix of gym, run, walk and cycle to get my target of being active every day and fingers crossed it's doable

Day 27 - done ✅

Thank Christ this is nearly over! 😂

KillingEvenings · 26/01/2020 20:38

Woohoo. Did 10k in a tidy hour today. Longest run yet this month has been around 8k but did a nice long flat run to break in my new shoes. Devoured pub roast lunch afterwards!!
A bit nervous about this week as I have early meetings at work 3 days so will need to get up extra early to fit my runs in but Im rubbish at running if I don't do it first thing. If I can get through this week and still be RED that will be a huge accomplishment for me!

CantstandmLMs · 26/01/2020 19:13

Lol @BuddhaAtSea I am on 20kg cause that's the Max I've got at home and I'm just about comfortable with that but as I'm doing this and doing it more often I may have to add 5kg to that at some point Confused

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 26/01/2020 18:37

Still here and still plodding
Despite the lurgy still hanging on I have kept walking and my Strava says between the few runs I have managed, walking to work and other walks I've managed over 70km already this month
Determined to get back in the gym and running this week to end the month with a bang Grin
Well done fellow Redders one more week to go

Day 26 - done ✅

8 mile run, increasing the distance in readiness for a half marathon at the end of Feb. I'm bloody knackered. But DP said my legs look more muscular since the start of Jan, so I'll take that!

BuddhaAtSea · 26/01/2020 12:40

15kg :) Or 10 if I just use the plate. I started last week. I’m by no means comfortable with that 😂😂😂

CantstandmLMs · 26/01/2020 12:29

@BuddhaAtSea I do Bodypump but at home and think I need to get some heavier weights now I'm progressing. Could definitely go higher on squat now. Can I ask what your squat weight is?

BuddhaAtSea · 26/01/2020 12:24

@CantstandmLMs I am scared to ask what pistol squats are. I’ve upped my weights at body pump and doing squats with a bar behind the head is painful enough!
I’m doing body pump 4 times next week, I won’t be able to walk. Bring in the 31st of Jan.

CantstandmLMs · 26/01/2020 12:20

@KillingEvenings I feel you on that, I feel so drained but I've been falling asleep instantly and that's fairly new for me! But generally a tired feeling constantly....where's my endorphins?! lol.

My body feels broken! Not helped by the fact I did a HIIT class on Friday at the gym with pistol squats?! And many other forms of squats and MJ thighs and glutes are still in pain. My feet are constantly achy from the running lol. Lord give me some rest days!

BuddhaAtSea · 26/01/2020 09:16

@KillingEvenings that’s what I have, Ghost 12. I love them.
I cycled yesterday for about an hour, today I plan a 5k. Once the day nurse kicks in 😂🤧

KillingEvenings · 25/01/2020 20:33

I've gone for brooks again. An upgrade in theory from the launch 5 to ghost 12 but they feel pretty similar to how my launch felt new.

GroggyLegs · 25/01/2020 17:28

@killingEvenings - what have you gone for? I gave run in Brookes for years but they changed the support system and they're no good to me now 😭

I have been doing my steps & runs as work allows - going to make a final push this last week!

It's also inspired me to sign up for my spring runs, so I now have a 5 mile, 10k and 10 mile in the diary... Maybe a half in May.

KillingEvenings · 25/01/2020 17:12

New shoes came just as I was leaving for my morning run so didn't get to give them a go, but am happily wearing them around the house.

Is anyone else just exhausted though? Not my legs but I can barely keep my eyes open. I'm supposed to go out this evening and am afriad of falling asleep during the concert. Unfortunately for those around me, I'm a snorer...

HoundOfTheBasketballs · 25/01/2020 11:13

Day 25 - done ✅

Parkrun this morning. Only 30 secs off a PB. Decent!

HoundOfTheBasketballs · 24/01/2020 13:56

I'm thinking of treating myself to something nice once we're finished @KillingEvenings maybe some new running tights or a wind proof top.

Day 24 - done ✅
Another lunchtime 5k near work. I left my socks at home though and had to run without them. Horrible!

KillingEvenings · 23/01/2020 23:57

Just ordered myself new shoes. Was due for a new pair but this RED malarkey is packing in the miles and am feeling a bit sore and I went to end the month on a high.

BuddhaAtSea · 23/01/2020 22:05

Day 23 done here too!!! OMG, we’re so nearly done!!!

HoundOfTheBasketballs · 23/01/2020 14:11

Day 23 - done ✅

Got out first thing this morning. Again, I didn't want to do it. But I definitely felt better afterwards.

8 days to go people...

KillingEvenings · 22/01/2020 22:21

Today was a day I definitely wouldn't have gone out if not for RED. Once I was out and going it was fine but I had no motivation. Still mulling over February. I love having the decision made for me but also have not been pushing myself as I know Ive got no rest days. Was thinking of switching to a new challenge like the 30 days of yoga, and still running 3 days a week. But don't know if I have that much yoga in me Grin

I may go lurk on that thread and see how they are getting on...

HoundOfTheBasketballs · 22/01/2020 22:02

Day 22 - done ✅

It was ugly and painful but it's done. Today was the least motivated I've felt since I started. But I still did it.

Here's to trying to be a bit more cheerful about it tomorrow.

BuddhaAtSea · 21/01/2020 21:18

Day 21 done ✅
Had a 2h walk with the dog, then body pump:)

I was telling someone today about red, and the dilemma it poses once it’s finished. Not really sure... I love my running, just the 5k, so I’ll continue with the club and parkrun. That’s 2days of 7.
I have my little ritual on Sunday mornings: body pump, then a swim, so I’ll continue with that.
The day off in the week (it varies) I can do Pilates plus another class. That’s 4 of 4.
I think I need one more, then rest two days?

CantstandmLMs · 21/01/2020 20:51

@HoundOfTheBasketballs exactly that, we have proven we can fit exercise in no matter how or where we just get it done! Something we can carry forward I hope!

My partner is doing it with me and we've been having really active weekends and actually loving it so that's something I also want to continue. Going on long walks together gives us time away from everything else to just chat along the way!

RomaineCalm · 21/01/2020 20:18

Day 21 and Week 3 complete! ✅

I'm with you CantstandmLMs - ticking a box every evening seemed like a rather childish motivation tool but it's worked. Having a plan of what I'll do each day has helped and I think I need something in February to stop me missing days that then become weeks....

And yes, proof that I can find time to exercise every day even if it's just a brisk walk.

HoundOfTheBasketballs · 21/01/2020 19:59

I am a bit worried about Feb tbh @CantstandmLMs
If I'm not going out every day I can see myself making excuses and then not going out for 3 or 4 days at a time. But I do hope that this has taught me that I have time for exercise every day, no matter what I'm doing.

Day 21 - Done ✅ 3 miles round the lake near my work. Very beautiful as the sun was setting.

CantstandmLMs · 21/01/2020 14:10

I'm completely knackered but determined and feel fitter and healthier. I did a 5.30 workout this morning before work as I'm out for a birthday this evening and no way was I ending my streak!

I am a bit worried about February 1st tbh! The chart has really worked for me (such a kid!) and I'm wondering if a similar chart for feb would be a good idea....what's been working is me telling myself what I'm doing for the week e.g. run Monday and Tuesday, weds Bodypump Friday gym. No matter what excuses come up I've told myself I am doing these things and cause of the chart I have. So wonder weather filling in a chart for Feb (set rest days this time!) would work...anyone thinking similar?
