After doing this in 2018 a new thread for new folk to join the 2019 challenge. Pick your target, log your miles and see what you can achieve whilst encouraging each other Smile Anyone want to join me?

@cleanhousewastedlife - really good to hear that you're making a great recovery from the Achilles injury. I sprained my ankle about 7 weeks ago and have been very disheartened at how slow slow slow the recovery from such a minor mishap has been - still stiff and weak and not able to run.

So my 2019 target is 1000km run plus 50 BMF sessions - but now to be based on a very slow ramp up! Bright side might be that if I'm up at 30km+ a week by end of year I could have a really good 2020...

I'm not logging walking miles but will aim to do something outdoors each day - so go out for a walk even if ankle can't support a run.

5.5 km this morning. Felt very slow and unhealthy, had a terrible stitch for most of it too.

5.5 / 994.5

Tsotofamily · 01/01/2019 16:41

3.2 mile walk here with kids and dogs. I'm going to aim for a mixture of walking and swimming. I did start c25k last year but hurt my ankle them got shin splint on 2nd try so my aim is to start that again this year at some point.

3.2/996.8 miles

JamAtkins · 01/01/2019 15:53

Walked 6.8 miles today. I found it quite challenging due to awful fitness level - also nearly got lost. I live in the Peak District so obv quite hilly. I really enjoyed it despite the huffing and puffing and planning another for fri. I hope you are all sharing in the glorious weather we have here

8FencingWire · 01/01/2019 15:19

5k walk along the beach today :)
5/1000

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 01/01/2019 14:01

I'm in!
Too old, too unfit and too knackered in the knee department for running so I'm a walker (nordic walking with poles x3 per week) but I'm aiming for 1000 miles in 2019.
3.5 miles today so 996.5 to go!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/01/2019 13:51

A very gentle start 5k walk. Bit stiff after a 10k run and 18k bike ride yesterday (what was I thinking?)

5/1000

babbi · 01/01/2019 12:28

First 5 k done ... 5/1000 ....

Good luck all

Tailrunner · 01/01/2019 11:59

Kicked off 2019 with a park run double. Our 2 local parkruns are on at different times on NYD so you can run them both and my friend talked me into it. I was planning to run/walk the second but managed a slow jog all the way round so I’m really chuffed. Off to colour my tracker now.

10/1000 running.

Submariner · 01/01/2019 11:12

Just over 2 miles done today. First run/walk since May according to my Garmin!!
Also need to go to the running shop this week, my trainers are really uncomfortable.

2/500

Tiredemma · 01/01/2019 11:11

First 5k done !

My aim this year is 100km a month.

5/1195

SkiMum99 · 01/01/2019 11:00

Thanks will try to find a running shop

Begrateful · 01/01/2019 10:01

I'm joining too and aiming for 1000km!🤗

I've been running for many years but not consistent with it. Going to start with 10km in the first week then build it up from there each week.🙌

sar302 · 01/01/2019 09:51

First short walk of 2019 - 2k to get a McDonald's breakfast 🙈 Going to try to remember to use Map my Walk, as I have now integrated it with My Fitness Pal.

Walking 2 / 998km
Cycling 0 / 1000miles

mrbob · 01/01/2019 09:43

If you can find a running shop that will get you on a treadmill and do gait analysis that will be the best if possible.

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 01/01/2019 09:40

Sevensatsumas I love brooks adrenaline but everyone is different. Do you have a good running shop near you? I would recommend going and trying lots on.

sevensatsumas · 01/01/2019 09:36

Can anyone recommend some good running trainers?

Tiredemma · 01/01/2019 09:25

Will be going out shortly to do my first run of 2019. Aiming for a swift 5k

diamantegal · 01/01/2019 00:31

Ooh, I'm in. Started gymming just before Christmas, so will start with a 1,000km challenge, but would love to beat that and turn it into 1,000m.

But to be honest, I'll take anything which means 2019 is more active than 2018!

Tiredemma · 01/01/2019 00:06

I think I started the 2018 one! ( but failed miserably around March). I do aim to pick it back up for 2019.

My aim is to run 100km per month

Soomanybooks · 01/01/2019 00:01

Just ran/walked 2.8km with my nearly 11 year old. The weather was already warming up.

mrbob · 31/12/2018 21:39

Right getting in first with my 5k park run. Feels good to get started! First ever park run and I was super slow but who cares. I have a target now to beat! Shall blame the heat- better running when it is cold and it was 20 degrees

cleanhousewastedlife · 31/12/2018 19:55

Ok I've made a commitment and bought a pedometer today in preparation for tomorrow! Have gone almost nowhere today so will aim to start well with a welly boot walk tomorrow. Happy new year all!

Pinotwoman82 · 31/12/2018 17:46

Count me in too, will give me motivation, doing my first half in February, after doing a handful of 10k’s
