Thanks both - purple that is exactly it about having already lived the vows! Yes been together nearly 16 years - has gone so fast. Your cough sounds awful you might need a GP appointment to check for infection? Those coughs that drag on for weeks are such a pain, can't take to your bed for weeks, but no energy and have to keep going, hope you can rest and get better soon Flowers Did you get BBOD for your birthday? Happy belated birthday wishes.

Reastie - well done on your walk. Building in that intention of a purposeful session for exercise is what counts and you will be able to continue it after baby comes along which is the main thing. I think your right about photos - most people would just look at them in comparison to how I look now and think they were fine but I just think why didn't I keep the weight off and feel cross with myself now instead of focussing on positives.

Sorry to hear that you miscarried so close to your wedding, that must have been such mixed emotions when you got married and can totally understand why the photos would have made you cry Sad

Reastie · 30/12/2018 15:31

Gentle run this morning, who am I kidding, in my dreams! I mean a gentle and very slow WALK! I can but dream of a run!

Reastie · 30/12/2018 15:31

Yummy massive congratulations, that’s wonderful news and I’m glad you enjoyed it. I bet you’re just seeing yourself badly in the pictures. I remember getting my wedding photos and actually cried as I hated how I looked (I think I was the only bride to gain weight before their wedding as I had a mc 3 months before and my hormones were all over the place and made me ravenous and I ate constantly) but everyone was really shocked by my reaction as they genuinely thought the photos were good, it’s just how you see yourself, and once you’ve been slimmer it’s hard to see pictures as I think you imagine (or hope) you look as you did at your slimmest. I bet you looked fabulous.

Purple that’s rubbish you’re still feeling bad, don’t rush to exercise if you’re not up to it, you have a whole year (and more) ahead to do do workouts.

Well, I felt terrible again yesterday evening. This morning I went for a gentle run, as in literally snails pace and I barely got 100 yards before I felt really exhausted and sick. This sucks. I managed just under 15 minutes very slow walking and that was all my activity for the day. Still, better than nothing and hoping to gradually build up.

Purpleraindeer · 30/12/2018 15:11

Poppy- congratulations!!!!!! FlowersWine how lovely. I’m glad it was what you wanted. It sounds lovely. Presume you’ve been together a long time already so you’ve already ‘lived’ your wedding vows which must make them feel really meaningful. I’m really pleased for you - what a memorable Xmas

Reastie - glad things are (slowly) improving. No point in worrying about weight gain. I was the same with ds - MASSIVE at 4mths but didn’t gain anymore weight (in fact I think I must have lost some) over the next 5mths so it all evened out. Hang in there - you’re doing well to be exercising at all given how you’ve been feeling.

Roman - I’m going to join you on liift. Should we be lift buddies? Im hopefully starting on nyd. I say hopefully as I’m still ill Sad. Managed a Xmas day short run, then have felt awful ever since. Now have a cough so loud I can clear a room. It has been 2weeks now - waaaaaaaah
Surely I’ll be better by 1 jan?

yumyumpoppycat · 29/12/2018 20:28

Just to clarify my dear husband did feature in this wedding Blush the main reason it was so nice was because when the registrar was reading out the words it really felt like we were marrying for all the reasons she was saying, and dp/dh felt the same so was emotional despite him playing down the whole thing since we booked it.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/12/2018 20:23

Hi everyone - Happy Christmas!

Reastie I am so happy to hear about your exercise, fingers crossed this is the start of you beginning to build up a little strength. Don't worry about weight - congratulations on managing to get to this point despite feeling so awful, you are amazing.

Purple I am the same and love the build up to christmas most, usually not a massive fan of christmas day, but hopefully you are feeling better and can make up for lost time.

Roman I am quite tempted to try the RH app it sounds interesting.

Sorry I have been awol again - actually sort of have valid excuses - had a big birthday and we went on a little mini family holiday to celebrate, we got back late christmas eve and I had hoped to workout but was too shattered, was enough to just try and fit in the christmas eve rituals! since then had christmas day at my mums, then preparing for a very short notice and small wedding for me and dp, I literally pulled together my outfit together the day before and was cleaning on the actual day - cut things super fine and was doing my own hair and makeup about an hour before we had to leave. Spent very little money, and in theory it was just for practical reasons but actually it was really nice and my family who were there quite liked it. I was really happy that I managed to find a suitable weddingy not wedding dress v cheap and with little to choose from and felt quite liberating not to have lost weight in advance, BUT now looking at the photos and because venue and outfit were nicer than expected I am disappointed that this wedding didn't happen last year when I was a couple of sizes smaller - front on photos look fine, but the side on ones look rubbish,I looked much bigger than I thought. Any way I have nothing special coming up so I will try and just give RH a try or do something a bit long term to lose a little or at least stop gaining.

Hope plink is having a good christmas?

Hopefully I will be back on to report a workout but if not Happy New Year!!!!

Reastie · 29/12/2018 10:36

Purple are you feeling any better yet?

Thermo sounds like you’ve got a good plan for next year. I think it’s good to have some time off now and again.

Well, good news and bad news. Bad news is embarrassingly at 14 weeks I’ve put on 2 stone. This is nearly how much I should put on in 9 months! Feeling very down about it and looking very obviously more flabby in the arms and legs etc. Trying to reduce what I’m eating but it’s pretty impossible as I jut feel so so sick if I don’t constantly eat. I’m not even enjoying food! So I will have to shed a huge amount of weight that I didn’t even want to eat in the first place. Good news is I managed 45 minutes very very gentle pg yoga yesterday and 15 minutes very gentle cycling on my bike today (even if I had to lie down for half an hour after going on my bike!). I’m really hoping this is the start of incorporating some kind of activity back and it won’t make things worse by exhausting me. I’ve decided my aim is for in a couple of months do yoga one day, bike the next then a toning type workout with my Swiss ball the following then repeat and have onerest day a week. At least hopefully even if I get fat I’ll be in a physically stronger place than last time post birth. If anyone spots any ball pg workouts online or knows of sites I can try please let me know.

Still feeling rubbish much of the time and am on medication and don’t have the energy or feel up to going out at all (even for short walks) but really hoping I can start building my stamina slowly back now I’m finding it more variable than constant nausea.

Have mw apt in 2 weeks so need to start building strength to be able to make it to the hospital.

Theromanempire · 28/12/2018 18:56

Hope you are all having a great Christmas Smile

No exercise here since Saturday (other than a long walk yesterday) and I am eating my bodyweight in food and chocolate!

Totally relaxing my diet till 2nd, am not weighing myself either. Expecting to put on about half a stone Blush

But Team RH are launching an app on 1st Jan so will restart with renewed enthusiasm and start my 3rd round of Liift4 so I think I can shift it easily enough and then make a start into reaching my target weight of 11.5 stone by my summer holiday in July!

Purpleraindeer · 24/12/2018 07:12

So, no Xmas eve work out for me Sad. I’m still ill but thankfully on the mend. It’s a shame as for me the Xmas build up is nicer than Xmas itself, and I’ve been ill for all of it. Bah. At least I’ll be able to eat, drink and be merry tomorrow I suppose.

Have a great Xmas everyone!

Purpleraindeer · 22/12/2018 11:54

Definitely no need to have guilt over work reastie. If you’re too poorly to get out of the house you’re too poorly to work! There was an article recently about doctors not taking pregnancy sickness seriously enough and I think it’s true of the general population. I can’t think of any other situation where you could be so incapacitated and vomiting all the time and people say stupid stuff like ‘have a ginger biscuit’ I’m Angry even remembering the stuff people said to me and my sickness was nowhere near as bad as yours.

Reastie · 22/12/2018 07:43

Oh purple how rubbish, not again. Hope you feel better soon and maybe just a gentle workout for Christmas Eve if you’re up to it?

I haven’t managed to do yoga again as have felt too sick but crossing fingers. I have dh and dd now home from school and work every day, and whilst it’s so nice not to be stuck on my own at home all the time I’m also finding it quite overwhelming and anything that stimulates me makes me worse so I’m having to take myself off to lie in bed a lot :( purple yes I’ve been signed off since mid October. I haven’t even managed out of the house apart from medical appointments (and had to have a private scan as I couldn’t make it to nhs one as it was too far away), not even for doing the school run so couldn’t manage work at all. It’s looking likely I’ll be signed off in January too :( tbh I was expecting it as last time I never really managed to work at all during pg but gave myself a lot of anxiety about it but this time I’m focusing on staying sane and getting through however I can ( both physically and mentally) as my priorities, I’m trying not to have guilt over work.

Purpleraindeer · 22/12/2018 07:21

Well done on the yoga reastie. That is great. You must feel a bit encouraged even though it felt hard? are you signed off work too as presume that must be part of the mental health impact - i know this from when my dh was off - he found it very hard and he didn’t have the additional impact of being poorly too. I hope you feel a bit better in time for Xmas though as I know how much you like it!

I’m really down in the dumps at the moment as I’m ill again! I worked out on Monday then immediately got ill again and have felt properly awful ever since. I’m hoping I’ll be ok for my traditional Xmas eve workout but I’m not sure Sad

Theromanempire · 20/12/2018 11:18

reastie the yoga sounds like the perfect workout for you at the moment. If you do fancy some gentle walking (but within the confines of your house so you can stop easily if you feel like it), there are some walking exercise videos on youtube (search for Leslie Sansone) - bit cheesy but various lengths and various intensities I think and really good if you want to do something and are stuck at home?

So I did Dirty 30 followed by Clubbercise on Monday and then Total Body Cardio on Tuesday - haven't done either of the 21df workouts for months and by yesterday, I was hurting in my sides, my bum and my quads!! Actually hurt to go upstairs and I totally blame the weighted surrenders in TBC for that Grin Had a rest day yesterday to try and recover a bit.

I am going to struggle to do a Christmas Eve workout due to other commitments - hopefully we will go for a walk with the DC if we can drag them out in the morning which is the only spare time we have and it is a bit of a family tradition. Think Sunday will be my last workout until 27th December.

Reastie · 19/12/2018 19:13

Me again!

I actually tried yoga today. First vaguely exercise related thing in 2 months! I did the bb first trimester yoga on the secret site (worked fine). I wanted just a gentle stretch yoga really to ease me in and see if I could do it and compared to a few months ago it was a super easy and wouldn’t even count as a workout but today I struggled! Turned out it wasn’t overly relaxing stretches there were a lot of squats and flow moves. I’m so heavy and inflexible, even just holding downward dog which used to be a rest pose was hard work and I couldn’t get my legs straight. I took it really easy as I didn’t want to overdo it but I did it! Hoping to try (nausea permitting) yoga a few times a week until I can get back on my exercise bike and then alternate. I’m struggling a lot mentally so I’m hoping once I can get exercise back in the routine once I’m up to it (which realistically might not be for another couple of months, but at least I’m trying) mentally it’ll help me.

Are you guys planning a Christmas Eve joint workout again this year? I’ll bow out but will be happy to chivvy you all to do it!

Reastie · 18/12/2018 07:01

Purple that sounds different to the one I did which is here

Purpleraindeer · 17/12/2018 22:20

Hi reastie. Congrats on the scan. I hope that gives you a bit of peace of mind. Sorry you’re still feeling shit but that’s a lot of weeks gone now so hang in there. I looked up the bbc fat monitor thing you mentioned. It does it by age group and uk region. Apparently 57pc of uk women in my age group are overweight which is quite shocking really. I live in east of England and we’re the 3rd least overweight area with 54pc overweight. OMG.

Poppy I hear you re kid free trips. I’ve left my youngest twice for 2 nights and he is 4. Although I can’t imagine a child free holiday. Holidays are the best time with kids surely. It’s the relentless school run/tea etc that I’d happily delegate!

Anyway. Rubbish weekend. No work outs as was feeling crap. Had to turn round and come home from my run on Friday. Back on it today. Did accelerator from p90x3 which I rarely do. Xmas tree baubles took a beating from plank circles and plank walks - i just kept knocking them off whichever way I turned. Poor tree

Good work on the double roman. Hardcore

Reastie · 17/12/2018 09:53

Thermo I used to like comparing myself from where I was to where I am on the global fat scale (it was on bbc website, I assume it’s still there). You compare the average weight of people your gender and age from other countries and it shows where you come up. I moved right the way from the bottom (ie most averagely ‘fat’ country) to near the top (although I’m probably nearer the bottom. Just showing progression up the line of country names I’d gone through made me feel good.

Reastie · 17/12/2018 09:51

Thermo that’s brilliant progress! You’re nearer to healthy weight BMI than overweight with 27, and remember it’s not a great tool of health if you have muscles as it measures you as higher than you should be because of muscle mass.

Theromanempire · 17/12/2018 09:43

Reastie so good to hear from you. So happy that the scan was good but Sad that you are still feeling rotten. Hopefully it will improve soon and you can start to feel human again. I saw the photos of Shaun T's holiday and was very Envy - me and DH haven't had a break away for 12 years so I am always jealous of anyone who gets time away from the kids Grin

Managed Upper Fix and half of ABC extreme on Friday night (actually worked out that half of the ABC workout is quite a good short leg and abs workout and only takes 10-15 minutes so fab to add on to other workouts). Then did T25 Ript Up on Saturday which was a bad idea as my arms were tired from Friday's workout but DH had hurt his leg so only wanted to do an arm workout!

Did a BMI calculator this morning just out of interest to see what difference my weight loss has made - started at a BMI of 33 (obese) and am now 27 (overweight) so that is progress Smile I need to lose another stone to be within the healthy weight - as another stone is my target weight, it seems odd that that will only just be 'healthy' Hmm Grin

Hi all,

You fell off my I’m on list Shock

Sorry some of you are not quite feeling the workout vibe. It’s a tough time of year with all the busyness of Christmas and dark rubbish weather and bugs about. No excuses come January though!

I went on Shaun ts fb Page yesterday to see how his babies are looking and all the most recent posts are him and his husband on holiday but no babies! There’s one of them naked (you see husbands bum but Shaun t is sitting down), one of them together topless, they look like they’re having a lovely relaxing loved up time together but I just kept thinking where are the babies?! Didn’t realise he had new stuff coming out and excited it has a step as I have a step. I shall look forward to that in the long distant future.

Had 12 week scan and everything looking good so all feels a bit more real now. Scary but real. Still feeling dire and on all the drugs and still not able to leave the house (the scan was a big thing to get to). Having to constantly eat and have put on now a stone and a half at least, but I think I’m still less than starting pg weight with dd 1 so trying to focus on that positive. Feeling huge and not up to doing any exercise yet, I can’t even manage yoga but I’m hoping come new year when I’ll be 15 weeks I might at least manage tiny walks every day to get my legs moving more and build up. I’d love to just be able to walk myself through a BA class just for the fun but I can’t manage that yet. Hopefully in a couple of months though....

yumyumpoppycat · 14/12/2018 19:26

Oh and waves to plink too Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 14/12/2018 19:26

Hi I am afraid I havent done much exercise this week - just boring stuff like work and to do lists getting in the way rather than christmas parties sadly! Have got one tomorrow though.

Well done on warrior Grin at taking out your christmas tree that conjours up a real image of you doing some proper superman kicks or whatever they are called.

Did you get your double done Roman. Well done on all your workouts.

Reastie Flowers from me too x

Purpleraindeer · 13/12/2018 21:13

I didn’t work out in the end Blush. I was knackered so sat around. I did warrior tonight to make up for it. It was almost impossible doing double skaters in my now tiny living room. I nearly took out the Xmas tree

Reastie - how are you doing? I hope you’re feeling ok

Theromanempire · 12/12/2018 21:43

purple what did you go for tonight?

I do feel strongly about Liift Blush it really ticked all the boxes of what I want from a workout (lots of weights and short bursts of cardio), Joel is fab and hot and it is fairly obvious how much fitter it has made me so what's not to love??

Planning on doing a double tomorrow - thinking 21df Upper Fix then 21dfx ABC to do legs and abs so I get a full body workout. Just not sure we'll have time!

Hope everyone else is ok...reastie we miss you Flowers

1 armed burpees and push ups sounds like progress to me roman! You are talking about lift like someone who has been dumped by their boyfriend. Grin I will try it in the new year!

I always feel like exercising more at this time of year. Work is busy and I am outside less so I need the endorphins. Also as my kids are still small we’re not going out Xmas boozing every night Sad. Anyway, did total synergistics on tues and cvx last night. Felt tired. Not sure what I’ll do tonight. Warrior maybe?
