Anybody else in London ballot?

It's the first time I've entered. I didn't think I'd be bothered but now we're approaching d day (week after next I'm guessing?) Ive become obsessed and am writing imaginary training plans Blush

When I entered I thought that if I got a spot, I'd defer it to give myself a year to put extra miles in my legs. But now I don't care about the extra miles...!!

Might look for other spring marathons.... K own I couldn't commit to fundraising for charity place.

Steaming pistons, would you consider a smaller uk marathon? Much cheaper and you might appreciate something more low key.

SteamingPistons you could try Amsterdam. I reckon it's probably cheaper than doing London, unless you already live in London. Last time I did it, you could collect your race pack on the day. It's probably possible to fly out and back the same day, but if not I find hotel accommodation cheaper there than London. London has always cost me a fortune with travel, food and accommodation.

No email or mag yet.. I did check the real buzz thing early this morning and it didn't have a bib number so I'm not holding out much hope. I know it's silly because the odds were slim and it's a bit of a lottery but I' ve been feeling really down recently and this was a little bit of hope for something exciting. Now I feel really disappointed as I'm convinced I've not got in and not sure what to aim for now. Would love to do a european marathon but can't afford it as both DPs and his dad have big birthday's coming up (30th and 60th)

No email or mag Steaming?

My postie has been and nothing for me Sad

SteamingPistons · 02/10/2017 15:16

Nothing here :(

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 15:06

Ooooh. Tufted, there's hope yet!

So, they do do it in batches Smile

TuftedLadyGrotto · 02/10/2017 15:03

No the magazines and emails go out over a number of days. They've got to send 250,000+ so do it in batches.

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 15:03

Steaming, has the postman been?

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 15:00

The postman's been.
Zilch. Nothing.

If we don't hear by today do you think that's it?
(that question is to those who have applied numerous times)

SteamingPistons · 02/10/2017 14:22

No email or magazine yet... I want to know Angry I am so impatient!

Notonthestairs · 02/10/2017 14:21

I had a nosey on the RW forums and it seems that some runners with places don't have bib numbers on their buzzfeed page. One idea was that VLM took the bib numbers down to stop people checking!
I don't think anyone knows for certain until they are contacted directly.

But last year I wasn't contacted at all - no email, no magasine - and had to wait a fortnight to spend a morning on the phone only to be told No! I swore then I never apply again. But of course I did.

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 14:10

Sheepy, as well as rustling clothes, I find the sloshing of the water bottle annoying as well.
Doesn't take much to annoy and distract me.

I can't remember what I ordered or even what colour it was. Confused
Maybe it's just as well I didn't get in. I would probably be the first person in the history of TLM to get lost and end up going the wrong way! Grin

sheepysheep · 02/10/2017 14:07

I got a running jacket - it was white and enormous (geared towards men of course, rolls eyes) and made a loud rustling noise. I did wear it a couple of times for early morning runs but stopped wearing it because the rustling sounded like an animal feed bag being shaken. I live in a rural area, lots of sheep - when they heard the rustle of me running along one or two would start bleating cos they thought I was food. then they'd all start running towards the road making a right bloody racket. So I went back to wearing my nice running jacket that actually fitted and didn't rustle....

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 14:06

The Postman still hasn't been.
It's like waiting for exam results. Grin

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 14:05

Runway,
Realbuzz doesn't actually say no though, maybe there's a disconnect between sending mags out and updating the website?
It's bound to happen.

clutching at straws for you

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 14:04

Thursday, loudest and tuft (and anyone I've missed)
Well done! You must keep us informed as to how training goes and the marathon itself.
We will all be cheering you on!

Runwayqueen · 02/10/2017 14:00

Well done loudest and tuft, brilliant news.

Realbuzz says no for me, to be expected. Have to say seeing a 7th no is disappointing but not as awful as those who haven’t got in and have been trying longer. I’ve applied to one charity that is very close to my heart after losing a relative this year. If I can’t run for them then it’s not meant to be

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 13:56

I don't think I'll wear the sweatshirt when it comes (I think it was a sweatshirt) Hmm
In hindsight it seems a bit naff to wear something that you haven't even taken part in Sad

I'll use it for gardening, or something.

ThursdayLastWeek · 02/10/2017 13:53

Oh yes sorry, I didn’t understand what you were asking it seems!

No need to pay unless you get a place. I did the first time I entered because I didn’t find the process clear either.

I didn’t donate my fee this year though.

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 13:53

Peppatax, I'm wondering the same thing.

Imstyledilemma · 02/10/2017 13:43

Phew Sheep, that's good to hear.

yetanotherdeskmove · 02/10/2017 13:40

No magazine today and no bib number if I do the link above, so I'm guessing it's another no for me.

I'm not that bothered (well maybe I am) as I think I need a full year of non injured running behind me before I do a marathon.

peppatax · 02/10/2017 13:39

If I don’t have a bib number on realbuzz does it mean I’m unsuccessful?!

LoudestRoar · 02/10/2017 13:39

I donated my fee, and thats how I got my place. I didn't win the main ballot, but got entered into a draw for those who had donated the fee to charity, where they selected 1000 people

sheepysheep · 02/10/2017 13:37

If unsuccessful you don't have to pay.

You can pay up front if you want - you get the free branded t shirt / running jacket but you also get entered into another ballot so it ups your chances of getting in by a smidgen
