Anybody else in London ballot?

It's the first time I've entered. I didn't think I'd be bothered but now we're approaching d day (week after next I'm guessing?) Ive become obsessed and am writing imaginary training plans Blush

When I entered I thought that if I got a spot, I'd defer it to give myself a year to put extra miles in my legs. But now I don't care about the extra miles...!!

Might look for other spring marathons.... K own I couldn't commit to fundraising for charity place.

Well done to all who got a place and bad luck to those who didn't... I didn't and I'm a bit gutted. I got my email yesterday afternoon and sulked last night but this morning I entered the Yorkshire marathon so I now have something to aim for :-) It isn't til October so there will be lots of long evenings to train and I will have just turned 40 so it seems like a good way to start a new decade...

I also entered the ride London ballot. Real buzz is showing a bib number but it can't be right as the ballot doesn't shut until January! Has anyone else entered it? I did VLM in 2012 so I'm really hoping to get into ride London as I'm covetting one of those new London Classics medals

SteamingPistons · 05/10/2017 09:15

Depends what time you checked though as they took everyone's off on 2nd in the afternoon

SandunesAndRainclouds · 04/10/2017 21:50

Steaming I have no bib number on realbuzz and I have a yes, so it isn't accurate.

SteamingPistons · 04/10/2017 21:47

On 2nd rather

SteamingPistons · 04/10/2017 21:45

Rejected, that bib number thing was true as I checked mine at like 8am on 1st and had no bib number

Twodogsandahooch · 04/10/2017 21:42

Rejected :(( or is it :)))

Purplerunner · 04/10/2017 21:37

Rejection e-mail here too this afternoon. Quite relieved really!

I've decided to sign up for the inaugural newport marathon instead!! It's being organised by the same people that run the Cardiff half so should be a well organised event, even if the scenery might be lacking! It will be cheaper than London, no hotel required and my family can probably be persuaded to come and spectate!

Our running club do names in a hat of those who want to. You must show proof that you entered the ballot and were rejected.

timshortfforthalia · 04/10/2017 17:37

I bequeathed my entry and got my no via post on Monday. Good luck to all those still waiting

I’ve had my rejection email, I knew it was coming but it was still disappointing to see. Our club get 2 spots. Stupidly they change the points system mid season, so I’ve gone from having enough points to just shy of enough so I can’t try that route.

I’ve not heard from my charity application yet, but they did say it would be next week anyway. If it’s a no from them then it just wasn’t meant to be.

I was slightly tempted by day 1 of Rtts but I don’t think my coaches would think I’m ready for it yet and therefore wouldn’t get their support, so back to picking Half Marathons (thinking Plymouth, Torbay and Cardiff).

BaffledMummy · 04/10/2017 16:42

The suspense is KILLING ME! Day 3 - postie been and gone and nothing. DH got his rejection on Monday.

No emails either although simply by writing this post, I am sure to jinx myself and find the reject email hitting my inbox!

I hate the way the ballot works but I kind of understand why they do it this way...generates loads of publicity for them, and for those who DO get it, it makes it that much more special maybe? Urgh!! This is the first year (of NINE!) that I haven't found out my results on day 1 (always been rejection). Am on the EDGE!

Blackandpurple · 04/10/2017 16:04

Yes!!

It was a big fat no!!!🍾🍾🍾🍾

Thank god!

Imstyledilemma · 04/10/2017 15:36

Bloody bank statement and a clothing catalogue.

That's it.
I'm outta here.

Good luck to those who got in!

No doubt I will be back this time next year, for another round of torturous waiting Smile

Imstyledilemma · 04/10/2017 15:09

I can see the postman's van, parked round the corner.
He's on his way.

Moment of truth here we come! Shock

csmudge · 04/10/2017 15:07

Imstyledilemma I have a similar theory. I think the only people who haven't heard yet are those who didn't get in but did bequest. My lovely free jacket and magazine is obviously lost with royal mail somewhere, and we'd be last to be emailed (if we even get one?) as they assume we already know as have received the mag + free gift.

Imstyledilemma · 04/10/2017 15:03

Loud, scrap that theory then! Grin

Imstyledilemma · 04/10/2017 15:01

I'm amazed at the process for letting people know if they have a place or not - 2 kinds of magazine, letters, emails... it's a bit bonkers!
I work in marketing and I can assure you that an e-mailshot of 300,000 is not a big deal at all and wouldn't crash a server if staggered over a few hours (think how many emails a retailer like Tesco will send out in one go).

It's good to hear the view of someone who works in marketing.

LoudestRoar · 04/10/2017 14:59

Imstyledilemma I got my yes mag Monday

Imstyledilemma · 04/10/2017 14:58

Loudest, I don't think you have to pay.
You've already effectively paid.

I think the bequest lot get entered to an additional draw. I'm wondering if it's all us 'bequest lot' who still haven't heard anything? Confused

Freshprincess · 04/10/2017 14:49

We do also Tufted. I'm not sure if I'll put my name in though. There's people who've applied many times who really really want to do it, and I'm a bit half hearted about it.

TuftedLadyGrotto · 04/10/2017 14:47

We have a ballot at my running club for ballot rejectees too. We get 2 VLM places because of the size of the club.
