11.6 from me

  • 1213.37 = 1224.97

lovely cool cloudy day :)

Anglaise1 · 24/07/2015 16:50

Glad your new shoes are OK now Ann.
I have no sense of balance at all, I could never rollerskate, skateboard, iceskate or ski as a child. And I still can't.
Easy 7.5 dog running miles today. Feeling a bit knackered for some reason. Must be having no kids to nag about tidying up.

Hi everyone. 4 miles from me yesterday. It was a bit cooler so not as arduous as Tuesday.

I've managed a couple of 4.2 and 4.4s recently so tomorrow I'm going to aim for 5 miles. I'll go when it's cooler and take a drink. I'm so motivated at the moment, can't wait to get out again.

My new shoes are fine now, as long as I do them up really tight. So I hope the lace holes can survive the strain. I never reported back on my email to Up and Running. I got a nice reply from them saying that I could return them as long as they were in a saleable condition, which is all you should expect really isn't it?

1205.87

Deliaskis · 24/07/2015 09:19

Hello folks, I'm returning after 3 weeks [gasp] of no running (week 1 I couldn't get out due to OH being away and me stuck at home evenings, week 2 was in Majorca and it was too scorchio and I confess I also drank a leeetle bit of vino in the evenings, and last week DH away again, so this week, Monday evening I went out, and OMG it was like I had never run in my life before, and then last night, back on my game again.

So I can log 2 x 3.2 = 6.4 add to the total makes 1201.87

Vaguely considering doing our local 10k at the end of Aug bust it's v hilly and I've only ever run 10k about 3 times in my life, on a completely flat route. Hmmmm..... I might actually need scraping off the pavement, but it would feel good if I did it...?

suzannecanthecan · 24/07/2015 08:46

Skateboarding has always seemed very male dominated to me?
Same goes for surfing, I wonder why that is? ?
?

PoppyShakespeare · 24/07/2015 08:36

I walked past a skateboard park yesterday and all the children were boys Shock that's how I knew it wasn't the 70s anymore Sad

familygermsareok · 24/07/2015 08:11

I used to want to be a skateboarder so badly, it looked so cool. I just kept falling off though not cool at all
Too worried about broken wrists to try it again now!

Welcome back Holmes, hope your foot behaves itself now.

4.85 this morning. Lovely sunny day and the air was still nice and cool. Loads of rabbits everywhere.

1190.62 + 4.85 = 1195.47

cinnamongreyhound · 24/07/2015 07:30

I can't do monkey bars at all, really hurts my armpits. I don't remember the 70's as I wasn't born but I never rode a skateboard either or ran without some kind of gps Shock

4 miles from me this morning 1190.62

PoppyShakespeare · 23/07/2015 21:55

Grin or just lie down carefully somewhere until I reach the end of my natural lifespan?

suzannecanthecan · 23/07/2015 21:36

you're just a bit out of practice thats all
maybe do a bit of a warm up next time

PoppyShakespeare · 23/07/2015 21:29

I need to remember I'm not 9 anymore, hurt myself quite badly on the monkey bars a few weeks ago Blush why didn't it occur to me that several decades have elapsed since I last played on them?

suzannecanthecan · 23/07/2015 21:24

skateboard?
I couldn't stay on one long enough to fall off of itBlush

PoppyShakespeare · 23/07/2015 21:12

I'm a living piece of social history, how did this happen? Do I belong in a museum?!

PoppyShakespeare · 23/07/2015 21:11

aahhhhhh in the 70s I was mostly falling off on a skate board, a fat pony or a bmx (maybe not a real bmx but some kind of dirt bike) I still have a fat pony to fall off at least!

suzannecanthecan · 23/07/2015 21:07

wow, must be like going back to the 1970's Poppy
they were great times :o

PoppyShakespeare · 23/07/2015 20:51

greetings from state of garminlessness

enjoyed trusty old 5k route with a spaniel but it's a very strange feeling!

1183.52 + 3.1 = 1186.62

runtothehills · 23/07/2015 19:25

OMG what an article Angalaise I feel I have just wasted 5 mins of my life. Hats off to her for keeping healthy and fit (15mph????) but I'm not sure what this article serves to the general population. Think I'll stick to my Trail Running mag Smile.

After my daily runs on holiday I'm having a typical no time to get out school holiday/back at work week. DH away so no time to escape and new shoes looking shiny in their box awaiting a dose of mud. Angalaise your child free running days are making me jealous!

Nice to hear back from you holmes and fingers crossed foot is on the mend. Hopefully I'll be out for a good run this weekend.

Purpletoes · 23/07/2015 15:07

That article is just rubbish I do wonder where the Fail finds these people!

3.8 from me today as my lovely mil came to watch the lo for me. Need to concentrate on upping distance for my 10k in September.
Hoping to do it in sub 70. We shall see! I have another booked for November so I can improve! Wink anglaise your runs sound lovely.
I definitely think I prefer wood trail running to road as I don't find it as hard to stay out longer it's just more interesting.

Holmes hope you recover smoothly.
Suzanne my bum is massive hoping running will calm it down a bit! BlushConfused I have typical short legs and big bum and boobs! I am sure I am a sight when running! Smile

1179.72+3.8=1183.52

Loueytb3 · 23/07/2015 14:53

You know it’s a while since you've posted when the thread disappears from "Threads I'm on" Blush

This half term has been brutal, but the DCs finally broke up yesterday so I have a bit of breathing space at last. They are at the CMs in the holidays while I'm at work so my life actually gets simpler.

Still managing to run, and have got a place in the Abingdon marathon in October which I'm wildly excited about. DH, less so. Will try and be a bit better at posting. In the meantime, adding in my contribution (since 1st July) which should bump up the monthly figure a tad Grin

118.52 + 1061.2 = 1179.72

TriJo · 23/07/2015 14:17

In fairness, it's only people like super-fast Eritreans, Ethiopians, Kenyans and Mo Farah that can get anywhere near that! Women's WR is just outside 1:05.

Hoping to have a crack at a sub-50 10k later this year, got close a few years ago but no cigar (50:05 PB Angry ).

PoppyShakespeare · 23/07/2015 13:00

58 minutes for a half! That's pretty much my lifetime PB for 10k and haven't done one in under an hour since 2006 Blush

suzannecanthecan · 23/07/2015 11:37

no hope for my poor slow arse then!

Anglaise1 · 23/07/2015 11:30

Yes TriJo she is an attention seeker and professional liar I think!
Suzanne apparently it is only speedwork that works your glutes, if she really ran at 15mph she would probably have a much less flat derriere.

OP posts:
TriJo · 23/07/2015 11:19

Zersenay Tadese ran 58 minutes ish for the half marathon world record. That article is painfully full of shit.

suzannecanthecan · 23/07/2015 11:06

but I notice that her derriere looks flat, is that inevitable once you get over 50?
doesnt running work your glutesConfused
