I was signed up for the Marriott way 10k last year but couldn't do it in the end due to childcare issues.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/06/2014 22:27

I have a 110 and love it!

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 28/06/2014 22:24

Forgot to log my Thursday evening run of 5k, so that brings us to 1774.2.

I'm currently researching Garmin watches and can't decide between the FR10, FR15 and FR110. Which GPS do you have and would you recommend it?

cinnamongreyhound · 28/06/2014 22:20

Not too far from me could do it, a few weeks after RNR :)

cinnamongreyhound · 28/06/2014 20:38

Well done SeymoreButts and originalpiratematerial!

Feel better soon Morrigu.

Going to google now OhOneOhTwoOhThree!

originalpiratematerial · 28/06/2014 20:18

Good luck morrigu and hope dd gets better very soon.

Morrigu · 28/06/2014 19:47

Thanks pirate. I do have a foam roller that I rarely use. Should really make more of an effort with it. I'll give that a whirl tonight as the pain is doing my head in. Thanks for the tips re the gym too. Dd is very poorly so it looks like hitting the gym will not even feature into my routine over the next few days unfortunately.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/06/2014 17:29

Has anyone done the Marriott's Way 10K? Or doing it this year? (I'm thinking about it)

emummy · 28/06/2014 16:25

seymore I love beet root juice! The one I buy is mixed with a little apple juice and is very nice. I think studies have shown it increases stamina, and of course, it's one of those pesky 5 a day things!

originalpiratematerial · 28/06/2014 15:13

Thanks Morrigu. Beetroot juice is disgusting (imo) - I think I'd throw up if I drank it before a run!

Wrt your achey hip/leg - keep stretching (gently) and have you got a foam roller - if so use it to roll out your IT band - agony but it does help. I would try cross-trainer but don't persist if it hurts! I find the rowing machine quite good if I have achey legs but don't want to lose cardio-vascular fitness - might be worth a try if cross-trainer hurts?

Morrigu · 28/06/2014 15:06

Well done on your pb pirate

I've heard beetroot is meant to be good for stamina and contains iron Seymore which I suppose is a good thing. Never tried it though as I only like beetroot pickled.

No running here from me. Very, very hungover and sicky and a good reminder to me why I rarely drink anymore. Plus my side that my knee and hip was sore on is still painful. I think it's that it band thingy as the whole way from my knee to my bum feels achy. Appointment for physio is on Friday but might ring on Monday to see if I can get an earlier slot. Question; if it is that should I still use the crosstrainer or not? Don't want to make it any worse but don't want to lose any fitness either.

originalpiratematerial · 28/06/2014 14:06

So 1769.2

originalpiratematerial · 28/06/2014 14:05

Race for Life 10k. Very happy as got new Garmin PBs of 5.53 for 1k, 9.40 for 1m and 31.13 for 5k. Unfortunately according to Garmin the total distance was not quite 10k, so I didn't get a Garmin PB for that, but am still pleased with my time of 01:03 (especially as I tried to go the wrong way at the end so added a few metres on that I didn't really need!).

postmanpatscat · 28/06/2014 13:01

Well done on your time seymore and all your runs this week josh

I ran to parkrun, and part of the course, then ran home. I've run about 6.5km in total I think as I was tailrunning and ended up with someone who was in pain and walked the whole second lap. She then retired and I ran the last one alone, getting to the finish line long after everyone else and clutching armfuls of cones and arrow signs! At least the rain held off til I got home.

I'm tailrunning again next week so I hope the last person is a little quicker.

So that's 1759.2 up til now.

thefemaleJoshLyman · 28/06/2014 11:08

Sorry, well done Seymore too!

thefemaleJoshLyman · 28/06/2014 11:07

1752.7 with my distance this week.

thefemaleJoshLyman · 28/06/2014 11:07

Hello all, had a completely crazy week so haven't been around much.

Some great running on here, fabulous 10k times Blathers your is fab.

Have run quite a lot this week, 10k on Monday which was horrible and hot, 7k in Thursday and then 13k this morning which included parkrun, where I might have done a pb. So that is 30k in total!

I'll add to the total in a second. I forgot to take note of previous total and can't see it on tablet! Blush

ThursdayLast · 28/06/2014 10:59

Just adding my parkrun 1722.7

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/06/2014 10:57

Oh yes pirate, taffle is E Yorks, haven't heard it for years but it's one of my DDad's words Smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/06/2014 10:55

Seymore that is fantastic Grin Not heard of beetroot juice I have to admit.

1717.7 with my slow and steady parkrun

SeymoreButts · 28/06/2014 08:18

Hello! Not much running from me this week due to poorly children.

I did my second 10.1km today, 53 minutes again! This time it was easier and by 9k I was running 5min/km and felt like I could keep going! But I'm sticking to the training plan so stopped at 10. 1712.7

Has anyone heard of drinking beetroot juice before a race? A friend suggested it to me, she's training for a half marathon though, it's probably not necessary for a shorter distance?!

originalpiratematerial · 28/06/2014 08:10

I'm off to Race for Life in Victoria Park this morning. Looks like the timing will coincide with the arrival of heavy showers but I don't mind that too much - I quite like running in the rain.

originalpiratematerial · 28/06/2014 08:08

BlueChampagne I've never heard of fankle! I think Confused taffle is from East Yorks, although it's entirely possible that i just made it up at some stage.

I like exercising outdoors but last time I tried doing some push-ups on a bench in the park, a passing Alsatian took rather too much of an interest!

ThursdayLast · 28/06/2014 08:03

1678.6+blues 16+my8=1702.6

ThursdayLast · 28/06/2014 08:01

Morning all. I have an arduous 8k to add from last night.

Turns out some of the paths around my local woods are nothing like as clear as they were last year. I spent nigh on 20mins picking my way through a quarter mike stretch of footpath that was spring loaded with healthy green brambles Angry. My poor little calves.

Never mind. After a healthy dose of Wine I was much better! although my parkrun time may not be dazzling today!
