Logging my daily JM fix and getting advice and motivation has been great over the past two months so here is a thread for all those of you who want to do the same again or for the first time. Come on, summer's nearly here and your butt's got Jillian's name on it Smile

30DS L3 D10 - I finished it!!!

I did my measurements at the start and today. I've lost 1" from bust, 4" from waist, 3" from hips and an inch from each thigh. Only lost 5lbs though. I'm really chuffed with those results.

I can still only do about 4 full push-ups and can't do full - plank moves for very long before swapping to knees. I'm going to do Ri30 when I get back from my holiday. Are people doing 10 of each level or 1 level a week then moving on?

I've downloaded (off YouTube) level 1 of 6W6P and Cardio Kickbox to try while I'm on holiday, not sure I'll do them but I'd like to try and workout a few times so it's not such a shock when I get back.

StuntNun · 01/06/2014 09:42

DH bought Ri30 for me too. Is this going to hurt?

MegBusset · 01/06/2014 08:17

I have just ordered ri30 as well, I must be mad! Slowly getting to grips with 30DS L3 but the last strength circuit is still a killer especially with a hangover like this morning

ImogenQuy · 01/06/2014 07:01

30DS L2D2 done. Those chair squats with a V-press are evil: I'm lacking some key muscle that would make my arms go up... I'm also depressed that I still seem to be putting on weight: did anyone else who was doing this for toning rather than weight loss have that experience after the first few days? I've gained 4-5lb since I started, which I wasn't expecting.

I have also, against my better judgement, ordered RI30 for that mythical day when I finish the Shred.

ImogenQuy · 31/05/2014 20:03

Sad Lambzig. I'll stop moaning about my ankles now (they are getting better after a day off: I clearly need to get some trainers with decent cushioning).

tabulahrasa, you and I are clearly kindred spirits - I really hate exercise too.

tabulahrasa · 31/05/2014 18:28

I'm a bit scared of it too, lol.

Nah, it's not that bad, it's not like starting it from scratch or anything...I'm just clearly using slightly different muscles from the shred, but I've just walked 3 miles with the dog and I'm no worse, so it's not really sore or anything.

That sounds horrible Lambzig :(

BetterWithCheese · 31/05/2014 17:25

30DS L3D9 done, last day tomorrow!

Lambzig that doesn't sound good. Hope you're feeling better tomorrow.

tabulah enjoy your rest day tomorrow. I'm a bit scared of Ri30 especially as I'll have had a week off when I start. Hopefully, I'll come back refreshed and not too worse for wear.

Lambzig · 31/05/2014 16:28

Oh dear, had to take a day off today. Last night my muscles started to lock up and be very painful. I had a terrible nights sleep where the shoulder and neck muscles and leg muscles were too painful to stay in one position. I felt the sort of flu-like muscle pain I have only ever had 15 years ago when I used to run marathons. It took a hot bath and ibuprofen to loosen my neck off this morning. Definitely overdid it.

tabulahrasa · 31/05/2014 13:28

Ri30L1D2...my legs hurt :(

I mean I'm not walking like John Wayne or anything, but they're achy. I might have been slightly more effective at the not running man though, which means i might even get my limbs coordinated before the end of the level, lol.

I'm glad tomorrow is a rest day though.

BetterWithCheese · 31/05/2014 09:21

That's pretty much been my mantra - better to do it half-assed imperfectly than not do it at all!

tabulahrasa · 30/05/2014 20:53

"Try not to get negative about it"

Oh I moan about everything Grin I don't enjoy exercise really is the issue, but I know realistically that if it was easy it wouldn't be doing any good. Some of my attempts at the sections are very bad indeed, but I figure it's better than sitting on my couch thinking about doing it, lol.

MegBusset · 30/05/2014 20:53

I'm on level 3 and still can't do the double jump ropes, or rather, my pelvic floor can't Blush

TorianaTollywobbles · 30/05/2014 20:26

Imogen, I'm on L2 D9 and I still can't do the double jump ropes either. I'm going to move up to L3 anyway, watched it through tonight, not looking forward to it!

ImogenQuy · 30/05/2014 20:23

Incidentally, I'm not noticing any difference in measurements yet, though possibly my arms look a bit more toned. My stomach is the problem area and no visible change there yet (though I have horrible crepey sagging skin since DS was born, and for all I know it's hiding a six-pack!) I'm another one with an industrial strength sports bra too: I like JM's little crop tops but I'd have two black eyes if I tried to copy them.

ImogenQuy · 30/05/2014 20:14

30DSL2D1 done. Ankles still very sore, so I had to do modified versions of some of it (no hope of doing those double jump ropes for a bit), and I'm hopelessly uncoordinated so some bits (like the oblique twists) aren't happening in the way they should! Congratulations to everyone who's actually finished the Shred: I can't see me ever getting to L3 at this rate and the mere thought of RI30 fills me with The Fear. I'm going to take tomorrow as a rest day and hope the ankles improve.

TorianaTollywobbles · 30/05/2014 16:50

Thanks for all your reassuring comments. I too seem to put all my fat on my stomach so I guess that will be the last to go. I think my arms are starting to look more toned, so onto L3 next week. Should be able to manage the 10 days till we go on holiday, then I think I'll start it again after we come back, as will probably put some weight on on holiday. Or maybe I need to try another like the Ri30.

I actually don't really need to lose any weight as such but I think we all have those few last pounds we want to get rid of that just won't shift!

Right onto L2 D9

yadahyadah · 30/05/2014 14:47

Tabulahrasa don't fret, pet. My first three days of Ri30 felt like a bit of a mind crash too. Without question it is an intense workout and it is a good 10 mins longer in duration than you are used to as a Shredder. But you will find that your body will just adapt to it over the next few days. Try not to get negative about it and remember that even if you do all the easy versions in a half-arsed way, it's still going to be better for you than not doing it at all. Good luck.

MegBusset · 30/05/2014 13:05

I am finding the weight/tummy is shifting a bit more now I'm on L3. It has been slow (but steady) going thus far - I don't have a huge amount to lose so that's probably why.

MegBusset · 30/05/2014 13:04

Well I had a lie in instead of shredding this morning, but knee felt ok once I was up, so I shoved the DC on Minecraft and did L3 before lunch.

Knee was fine, in fact the teeny graze I got on one hand was much more bothersome as it hurt disproportionately during all the plank/push up moves!

tabulahrasa · 30/05/2014 12:01

Too late, I was expecting fun and it was hard...I'm sulking now, lol

Ach it was alright actually, I'm just a bit scared of how much harder it's going to get seeing as level one isn't much easier than I was finding level three of 30DS, less 'I think I might collapse' but not exactly easy.

Lambzig · 30/05/2014 11:54

I did say more fun (in a twisted way).

BetterWithCheese · 30/05/2014 11:47

Yeah, I think I look like I've lost more weight than I have and I definitely look more toned. I'm also less negative about my body as I'm impressed it can do as much as it can!

tabulahrasa · 30/05/2014 11:41

Ri30L1D1

Fun? Hmm The reverse plank, hollow thingy...dear god!!!

Also, the running man (which is not a running man) I can't get my arms and legs working in opposites, lol.

I was expecting it to be a step down with being the first level - and it is in a way, but it's not easy, I'm now a bit scared of the other levels, lol

Re weight loss and noticing a difference, I've been dieting for a while and I'm not losing weight any quicker - I do have muscles in my arms now (they were mostly bingo wing before) then my shoulders looked slimmer and my thighs and bum...my stomach isn't shifting as fast, but I'm convinced there must be muscles in there somewhere and it is smaller, just not as noticeable as everywhere else.

I notice myself being fitter though, walking is not as tiring...that make it sound like I couldn't walk, I mean because I walk a few miles a day with the dog, lol, and I went out on Saturday night and I really noticed a difference when I was dancing and I walked home and wasn't half dead the next day.

BetterWithCheese · 30/05/2014 11:39

30DS L3D8 done, almost there. It felt like I was never going to get through it today,I got interrupted by the dog, my 3 year old and then the baby woke from her nap very early.

In terms of weightloss I think I've averaged a lb a week but some weeks none some weeks 2, etc. I've lost 4 inches off my waist though but as I had a baby 5 months ago it was bigger than it had ever been.

Imogen I found level 1 the worst for sore joints. I'm not sure if it's the moves themselves or that the muscles supporting your joints get stronger so they hurt less on later levels. Maybe a bit if both. Just keep an eye on it and modify when you need to.

AnyaKnowIt · 30/05/2014 11:36

No, you are right about the muscle/weight thing, but after a bit of googling it seems to be quite common. A few websites have suggested to not weight yourself but look in a mirror to see the changes.

30DSL2D2 done so now a weekend off Grin
