Logging my daily JM fix and getting advice and motivation has been great over the past two months so here is a thread for all those of you who want to do the same again or for the first time. Come on, summer's nearly here and your butt's got Jillian's name on it Smile

Hello, can I join you please? I am having another go at restarting the Shred, did L1D1 yesterday (and not feeling too bad today so far!). I did it all once before but ages ago, have tried it again since but usually ended up stopping for some reason or other before getting much past L1.

I NEED to keep it up this time though, quite apart from wanting to lose weight and tone up etc., I also have Ripped in 30 AND the whole Body Revolution set waiting on the shelf for me to try them Shock but I want to get through the Shred again first to build up my fitness a bit before daring to try the new ones! Then if when I manage that I will have a go at RI30 and the others afterwards.

It is harder than level 2 but not more harder than level 1 was back at the beginning. I'm now managing to lower myself slightly when doing to walking push ups whereas at the start I just did the walking out part like Anita.

tabulahrasa · 08/05/2014 11:54

Level 2 is harder, but it's not too hard to do or leaves you sore afterwards, just in a dear god I'm sweaty and breathless! way.

I'm overweight and very unfit to start with and I find it that way anyway...though I do mostly do the modified versions.

Gimmesomemore · 08/05/2014 11:47

Well I've done level 1 for 12 days, as DH decided he'd join me after watching some evenings last week. I think listening to Jillian struck a chord and has motivated him.

He is 20 stone and has done 4 days now. I'm due to start level 2 today, but I'm worried how hard I'll find it after level 1.

Babesh · 08/05/2014 11:41

Excellent Amelia - I plan to try l2 tonight, yeah I was pleased with the run as although I have run in the past I haven't for years and years and starting is always awful!!

ErrolTheDragon · 08/05/2014 11:10

Did 6W6P L1 today - OK except for the last side planks which I did swapped for the side crunch thing from the shred. Think I've got the hang of it - so long as I can arrange my limbs correctly to begin with (even if that means missing the first rep) it seems to then go ok. Not keen though - will do again tomorrow, take a look at L2 and if I don't like that return to one of the others. I think shred/ripped are better all-round workouts in a shorter time, and I liked NMTZ too.

I think it goes past quicker than level 1 when you're doing it...I tried double jump ropes for the first time...it may possibly have prompted me to tell DS to call me an ambulance, he's 18 though, so he just looked at me like this Hmm as he went back into the kitchen.

StuntNun · 08/05/2014 10:03

I couldn't get the hang of 6W6P Errol, I found it really difficult to work out what the girls were doing, especially Bashira's moves which were very complex. I gave up halfway through and just did sit-ups for the rest of the time instead Blush

ThePowerOfMe · 08/05/2014 09:09

L1D4 done!

I make dh join in if he's around. No way is he sitting there to watch and laugh. But seeing as I do it first thing, hes usually in bed.

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 08/05/2014 08:18

Babesh I have just done L2 D4 and it doesn't feel any longer than level 1 when you are actually doing it. I do however feel a lot more hot and sweaty :)

Well done on the run. That sounds brilliant for the first time.

I'm still following Anita but gradually adding a little of Natalie in places. The first set of plank jacks I did properly but the second set I stepped.

My arms are looking smaller but still have bingo wings!

Babesh · 08/05/2014 00:07

You let your husband watch dh? I banish mine:) I think I need to do level 2 tomorrow, watched it with my toddler today and it felt twice as long as level 1!

I think it is magic though, worked out my first run was 3km so plan to work up to 5km and carry on. Don't think I would ave run nestle that much without a week of shredding first.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2014 23:23

I used to have to stop during the oblique twists, rearrange my arms and legs and start again Grin.

Its worth watching a new level through (fast forwarding as apt) to get an idea of the moves. And then don't necessarily try to go at the same pace as them to start with, or pause and rewind a bit if you didn't get the hang of something - I was doing that all the time when I started 6W6P on monday.

BetterWithCheese · 07/05/2014 23:08

Well done Fubble! I had a day off today, back on it tomorrow.

Fubble · 07/05/2014 21:18

Feel tired warm and sweaty but I did it ....is what my previous post was supposed to say!

Fubble · 07/05/2014 21:07

Woke up this morning feeling grand but as the day wore my thighs in particular we're starting to feel stiff and sore. Was totally dreading doing 30DS L1D2.
But, warned husband no mockery was allowed at the state of me attempting some of these moves (he finds GG boobs hilarious during star jumps!) and I did it. Feel tired, warm and sweaty but I didn't :)
Going to reward myself with watching the new 24 now. Woo and indeed hoo!!

Thanks for listening folks :)

yadahyadah · 07/05/2014 20:58

L2 of shred was great for making me feel really strong by the end of it. It is really great for that.
areyoufeelinglucky keep it up it is worth it for sure. we are going to be smokin' by the end of this Smile

Lol at co-ordination...it's the oblique twists that get me, I'm so glad I can't see myself flailing away.

Level 2 is definitely harder work I think, but, not in the oh dear god what have I done to my body way that starting to begin with was.

PrivateBenjamin · 07/05/2014 19:58

Today I did L2D1. It wasn't as scary as I was expecting! There was definitely a step up from Level 1, but it was doable (with occasional swapping of weights for tins of beans). My only issue is that it presupposes that you are coordinated and can move your arms and legs independently of each other in rhythm, and I can't. My arms were flailing all over the place with the ice skaters. Fun though!

This is a nice supportive thread. Everyone is doing so well! Smile

AreYouFeelingLucky · 07/05/2014 18:53

No, I'm new. I'm glad it's not just me that considers it hard!

I didn't feel it too much this morning, only when I kneel down, but by this afternoon my legs and back are aching.

It's all worthwhile, right!?

yadahyadah · 07/05/2014 12:51

Rin30 L2D2 - flipping heck it's hard. As yesterday was my first day on L2 I was holding back in the moves in order to protect joints etc but today I gave it a bit more welly and man, I was pretty f'd by circuit 2.

StuntNun · 07/05/2014 12:05

No difference in weight Gwladys but my BMI is 21.5 at the moment so I don't really need to lose any more weight than I already have through diet. I have quite definitely dropped a clothes size from 12 to 10, the top part of my tummy is flatter and the lower part of my tummy is coming in gradually but I have had two caesearean sections so there's more work to do there than others might have. My arms (I have biceps!), legs and butt are more toned and I'm sure my shoulders and back probably look better thank they did. The one thing the shred isn't great for is the internal abs (for narrowing the waist) so I have been doing the stomach vacuum as well to work on that area. I also need extra work on my press-ups and sit-ups so I'm going to focus on those once I finish my 30 days then start again and try and work up to sticking with Natalie all the way.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2014 11:30

glwadys - It does get easier - those aching muscles are getting stronger!
I hated the jacks and jump rope together so just swapped them around with the other moves - so I'd done everything just in a different combination. Also, having read more about HIIT I started to do the cardio parts as hard as possible (rather than pacing myself to survive the whole two mins), hitting the pause button to recover between the moves.

GwladysFrightandthePups · 07/05/2014 09:53

Well done Stunt! Can I ask, and sorry if you've already said earlier in the thread - it's been a while since I read the whole lot, what difference you've seen in weight / tone? I've just done L1 D3 and I could do with the motivation!

It was pretty tough again today, but as I'm still aching from the last two days so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. The first circuit is worst - push ups then the jumping jacks and skipping rope thing - I've had to stop every time so far. Jillian would not be happy. Tell me it gets easier?!

StuntNun · 07/05/2014 09:33

30DS L3D10 done. One more session to go!

GandTnow · 07/05/2014 08:57

Well last night a bunch of friends said that I was looking trim and fit! Whoop!!!! I then may have causally taken off my cardi so they could admire my sculpted arms Grin!

So far I've lost 1/2 stone and three 1/2 inches off my tummy - major area where worked needed to be done. It would be wrong to celebrate this with a cream cake?!
