I've finished shred, but not very shredded.

Have started ripped in 30, but the yoga looked a bit different

I've f

AnyaKnowIt · 20/06/2014 22:53

No never, have seen a clip on YouTube

oohdaddypig · 20/06/2014 22:42

anya I have it and love it. Which surprised me as I have done yoga for years and its not really traditional yoga. JM has taken a vinyasa type yoga and made it her own - hard to explain. I particularly enjoy it when in feeling a bit achey.

Have you done yoga before?

AnyaKnowIt · 20/06/2014 22:06

Has anyone done jillians yoga DVD?

Is it with doing?

oohdaddypig · 20/06/2014 22:03

Maybe we should rename the thread "those that love kick ass American trainers" :)

Managed most of NMTZ - a bugger after two weeks off.

Notyummy - wow!

IdkickJilliansAss · 20/06/2014 21:44

I did it in order and found the first easier but I'm a cardio freak and not so great with heavy weights, very impressed by your 15lb weights Smile

OP posts:
notyummy · 20/06/2014 21:26

Yes it is and if it's done at the pace that Stephanie does it the it's pretty brutal. I found the second one much easier. I'm fact the only time I have done them back to back I did the second (first time I did the DVD) and it said it was upper body so thought I would try. Got to the end and thought 'that wasn't too bad, I'll try number one now' hmm.... There's quite a contrast!

IdkickJilliansAss · 20/06/2014 21:01

He's no Bob that's for sure! Is the first workout more cardio based? I've only done the DVD once and did them back to back so it's a bit of a blur Grin

OP posts:
notyummy · 20/06/2014 20:05

He's a bit of a wimp though the guy in the second workout- the first workout is harder and Stephanie doesn't keep stopping for a breather! I did it with 15lb weights and didn't need to stop- yes - 5lb less per side, but I am ladee in her mid 40s and he's a strapping young lad ;-)

IdkickJilliansAss · 20/06/2014 19:57

Ripped L1 done, i've got Bobs Workout it is good but his poor assistant seems to really suffer towards the end of the second half, 20lb weights!!

Hi notyummy. Thanks for the BH recommendation, I've been interested in his stuff but most of it is too long for me to fit in. I get less time to MN too now and I'm struggling typing on my phone.

Did Ripped L3 today, bloody duck walks! Kettlebell class tomorrow, really looking forward to it.

notyummy · 20/06/2014 17:42

Hi all. I used to be a regular but life intervened and I was too busy to mumsnet for a whole. I was still exercising though! I am a 6 days a week person, with 3 of those usually being under 30 minutes and three closer to an hour. Driven by work and family commitments- work four days a week, long commute and DH away a lot with military so DVDs allow me to squeeze stuff in.

Still Jillianing but probably doing more Bob Harper at the moment. Have his Cardio Rev, Pure Strength, yoga and the 'Bobs workout', my most recent buy. Would really recommend this to those short of time who can't do his others due to their length. It's two workouts of 25/27 mins length. You can do both or just one, and workout one is by far the hardest and def a decent workout in a short space of time. It's like Jillian on steroids!!

Keep it up everyone- great to see you all still working hard

:-)

BH Totally Ripped Core done Grin

spinningirl10 · 20/06/2014 08:28

Couldn't find you this morning......page had slipped off my 'I'm on' page! Clearly a sign that I'm not doing enough so I'm off to exercise!!

EarSlaps · 18/06/2014 20:08

6w6p L1 today.

IdkickJilliansAss · 17/06/2014 18:04

I hated 6W6P L2 first time I tried it but since getting more core strength and coordination i've started to like it, sort of Grin

OP posts:
Jacksterbear · 17/06/2014 17:34

Nice one idkick.

misso, I love L2 6W6P, but it did take doing it lots of times before I felt I was doing the moves with good enough form to really feel it in my abs, and not just in my legs.

Shaun T's "dynamic core" done today.

IdkickJilliansAss · 17/06/2014 11:36

6w6p half of L2 and all of Core Speed done

StuntNun · 16/06/2014 21:35

EarSlaps I use an app that calculates bf% from weight, height, wrist, forearm, waist and hips. It won't be amazingly accurate but then I don't really need to know particularly accurately.

missorinoco · 16/06/2014 21:03

Thanks for the replies. Shall keep going with L2, but will get heavier weights. I tried BFBM this morning and loved it. I think I will alternate for variety.

Jacksterbear · 16/06/2014 20:54

Earslaps I tried a couple of different online calculators, including the US Navy one which I've seen referred to on this thread before. Varying measurements including neck/wrist/forearm, as well as waist and hips.

EarSlaps · 16/06/2014 20:20

missorinoco I just go at my own speed on round 2 of L2 6W6P. I use a 4kg weight and I'd much rather focus on the quality and form of my movements than trying to whizz through them. I do find it a good workout for my core, and remember- if you can build up good thigh muscles they will help burn a lot of calories as they are such big muscles.

Jackster and Stunt- how are you measuring body fat? I've used the US Navy calculator and that comes up at about 23% (I'm just a shade under 5ft6 and 9st3, so pretty similar to you two). However, my Tanita scales vary between about 25% and 27%. I think from being measured before with callipers etc that the scales overstated by about 10%, so that would tally up. There are very few truly accurate ways to measure so it's best guess really I think!

Heavy weights, low reps is the best way to gain muscle, plus plenty of protein for repair. So 3 sets of about 5-8 reps is recommended. I've been using the dumbbells for things like chest press and shoulder press to try and improve my upper body strength, plus for weighted squats.

I'dkick- were you just doing the kettlebell dvds or did you try classes too? I've now done 2 beginner classes with our local kettlebell club and I can see how terrible SIWW is for form etc. The club I've started at really focus on form, and most of the moves are fairly high weight/low reps to try and build muscle with swings and higher rep moves for cardio/conditioning. Her turkish get ups for instance are much too fast and she comes up in a crunch rather than hinging like you should. I think the kettlebells she sells are rather light (20lb max, so 9kg, and they aren't using them with all the weights in), so I think most people would be ok doing those moves with a light weight but the poor form would be a killer with heavier weights. I haven't seen any BH kettlebells so I couldn't comment on form for that.

spinningirl10 · 16/06/2014 20:05

Great pic Stunt, keep up the good workGrin

I've cycled 10 miles today. Will JM sometime tomorrow.

Jacksterbear · 16/06/2014 18:45

Thanks for the reply stunt. Was a bit gutted to not be in the "fit" range (21-24) given the amount of exercise I do! Yes it would make sense to up the resistance training. I don't think "athlete" is going to be a realistic goal for me but I would like to make it into "fit"!
