January Shred Thread

I thought I had better start one seeing as no one else has.
Please add your updates, whether it is a New Year's Resolution to get fit or you have been here for the long haul!

I have just had two days off due to my lower abs being hugely painful, thing I must have pulled something the other day.
Hopefully back on it after the child goes to sleep.

Hope all is going well for the rest of you and you are all eager to go again when the kids are back at school. My poor DS1 starts back today!

Glad to help.
Tomorrow's thread is www.mumsnet.com/Talk/exercise/1984207-February-Shred-Thread-2014here

2tiredtocare · 31/01/2014 16:26

Thanks Errol, I'm rubbish at a full push up, see you on tge next thread

ErrolTheDragon · 31/01/2014 15:57

2tired - IIRC if you look at the 'recommendations' on the DVD JM says to do each level for as many days as you feel you need before you move on. I've done it before so I'm doing the 10 days per level - each weekday with weekends off so the 30 days takes me 6 weeks. Note that you do not have to be doing everything perfectly 'natalie' style (else those of us who can't do full pushups would be stuck!).

Thanks for setting up the Feb thread Lily, see you all over there. Smile

2tiredtocare · 31/01/2014 15:49

Thanks Lindt I really enjoyed it, it's easier to hang on in there when you know it'll all be done it 20 minutes

LilyJoAndMe · 31/01/2014 15:48

I've started the new February thread for tomorrow here:

Lindt70Percent · 31/01/2014 15:28

L2D7 done today. I had a rest day yesterday and thought I'd be feeling full of beans but I wasn't. I actually struggled quite badly with it today.

Welcome 2tiredtocare. I think the idea is that you do 10 days of each level but they don't have to be consecutive days. I started on something like the 7th January (not entirely sure of the exact date) and have now done 17 sessions but it has taken me longer then 17 days to do get this far. How did you find day 1?

2tiredtocare · 31/01/2014 15:17

Hey Shreddies, just started day 1 and have a question: Are you supposed to so 10 days each of each level?

LilyJoAndMe · 31/01/2014 15:02

Read TIPs advice on the knee stuff.
I have funny knees too so I'll do those knee exercises to develop my little 'knee'muscles on top of the shred stuff. Thanks TIP- and Errol too. Smile
I want to get my cardio up still so I'm still going to try some fast jogging - for a short time - rather than skipping.
All the best to you all.

ErrolTheDragon · 31/01/2014 10:40

OK, L2D10, roll on L3! Plus 2x30 sec side planks per side and some bent over rows, military presses and deadlifts (going to do another set of 5 of those in a moment).

Rest days as per usual this weekend - so see you all on the February thread which one of you will start tomorrow. Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 31/01/2014 09:18

Oh, well done everyone!
Envy spinning - I'm determined to be able to do full press-ups this year but I'm finding it hard work.

Logg1e - you can do it again, going to more Natalie if you've been doing anitas, or using more weight. Or try one of the other dvds like Ri30

What am I doing sitting here? I should be downstairs shredding! See you later.

worldgonecrazy · 31/01/2014 09:10

Hello fellow Jillian devotees.

The last day of January, so onwards and upwards and Natalie-like for February.

I have finally got my waist below 80cm. At this rate we will be bikini-ready by the Summer.

NotGoodNotBad · 31/01/2014 08:51

Well I've suddenly seen some changes in the last couple of days after 3 1/2 weeks. A couple of pounds lost finally, and some exercises have just got easier - I can get lower on the scissors, more like Natalie than Anita, and the jumping lunges are getting better.

If I ever manage a pushup though it will be the first time in my life!

Logg1e · 31/01/2014 07:54

Haha! Sheed is a colleague of mine.

Logg1e · 31/01/2014 07:53

Well done everyone, it is so motivating reading about people plugging away and seeing changes.

L2D2 yesterday and I'm already thinking I'll miss Sheed when it's over.

spinningirl10 · 31/01/2014 07:14

D19 L3 d1 done Grin

Enjoyed L3, I can even do proper press up now, yay!!

Didn't like the abs with scissor legs! And the jumping things at the end are nasty!!

intheround · 30/01/2014 20:33

L2D3 done after a couple of days rest and it was much better. Feeling a bit more positive about it all now.

PeppermintCream · 30/01/2014 20:16

L3D6 done - this is hard!

Well done fellow shredders, you're doing really well.

LakeFlyPie · 30/01/2014 20:09

L2 D9 done and for no apparent reason it was unenjoyable from start to finish. Wonder if I should have had a rest day today. Muscles just felt like they had no power at all.
On a positive note, only 1 more day of L2 left but haven't looked at L3 yet. Am I being naively optimistic? Grin

WillColbert · 30/01/2014 12:46

L2D8 of Ri30 done.

Another Archers addict here!

Nightwish · 30/01/2014 11:52

L3D8 done at last!
5 days off but back on it.
Only 2 days to go.
And then I will be attempting (I think) c25k and carrying on shreding too.
If I hate c25k too much I will buy another JM DVD.

Lindt I thought my pelvic floor wasn't too bad but jumping jacks with weights are my weakness on that front!
I really need to regularly do the pf exercises.
I'm hoping it will get better as DS2 is only 5 months.

L2D9 plus planks and inclined press-ups.

spinningirl10 · 30/01/2014 07:17

D17 L2 d9 done!!

Going to move up to L3 tomorrow Grin

Lindt70Percent · 29/01/2014 22:53

Logg1e, when I say my pelvic floor can't handle it I mean that I wet myself a bit Blush. Not much fun trying to do explosive moves when you're worried about that happening! I'm very envious you needed to ask. Actually, it's making me wonder how common a problem this is. Perhaps I should go to the GP.

ErrolTheDragon I'm addicted to The Archers too but I haven't listened to tonight's. I download the podcast every night and then listen to it as I'm walking the dogs across the fields in the morning (seems appropriate). Will have to search for an Archers thread now, but will have to wait until I've listened to tonight's episode first!

LakeFlyPie · 29/01/2014 20:28

L2 D8 done, wish I'd taken some measurements pre Shred as today was the 1st day since Xmas break when my work trousers didn't feel like they would cut me in half.
My eating isn't as good as my Shredding ATM, am considering planning a mon-fri meal plan for next week to try and shift some of the blubber under which my newly toned muscles are hiding.

PeppermintCream · 29/01/2014 19:46

L3D5 done.

I've not shredded for 4 days, DS, DH and DD1 have all had the winter sickness bug and I'm on antibiotics for sinusitis Hmm

I'll try and catch up on everyone's progress.
