I can't believe I managed to do it! I am very unfit and about 3 stone overweight. But I did it Grin

Just wanted to share with someone as I'm very proud of myself at the moment Blush

I have admitted defeat and am going to the doctor :( I cannot believe the pain I'm still in - my knees are stinging and throbbing. Fine when I got up this morning but as the day has worn I am having serious difficulty even walking. I just want to (an have!) cry.

Signing in having just done w4 r1. Surprised myself at just how well I coped with the jump up to the five minute sections, though I did slow myself right down the first time. Well I thought I did but having looked at my pace stats on Endomondo, I was only a smidgen off my previous runs. Maybe my cardio fitness is springing back then? Did a lovely circuit of a nature reserve that's on my doorstep - sun shining, Highland cattle looking at me with that blank expression that only a bovine can do

It's also only the second time I've run in these new trainers. I pronate on both feet but one noticeably more so than the other, and whilst they're much better for my worst pronating foot, they're very firm on my least pronating one. I think it's leading to some tightness in that calf that I'm gong to have to be very careful to stretch out properly on rest days.

Sports bras - I think I might have found the one. Panache underwired Sports bra. Have tried Shock Absorber and they're just not supportive enough and nor are the Freya Actives. And the Freya's have the weirdest pointy-triangular east-west thing going on, very off putting. The Panache is a different beast entirely, and it is indeed a tank of a bra! Nicely shaped moulded cups encased in a no-bounce mesh outer layer, with an optional racer back to increase side support. I really like it so far. There's one more Shock absorber I'd like to try but otherwise I think I'll stick with the Panache. Think I'm going to shell out on some running tights too, I look like a plonker in these tracksuit bottoms and it's getting to the point where it's just too warm!

wibblyjelly · 28/04/2013 21:18

I seem to have picked up my first injurySad . The top side of my left foot is painful to walk on, and wiggling my 2 littlest toes makes it hurt as well. Glad tomorrow is a rest day. I'm going to rest it, and my dsis who is a nurse has suggested ibroprofen. Hopefully when I run on Tuesday, it will be OK.

eminemmerdale · 28/04/2013 16:10

We don't havea decatholon near us, but I'm sure i can get it done at the gym. Really fed up though as i wanted to do another run tonight :(

wibblyjelly · 28/04/2013 14:30

W2 R2 completed, was hard going from the start, but I enjoyed it. I went for a run in my dsis local park (yes, if you were in Maldon prom earlier, the woman getting lapped by walking pigeons was meSmile ) but the weather was just right, and I managed to get through it from start to finish....

sadlovedgirl · 28/04/2013 13:03

Hi emin I had my trainers from decathlon and they had me on the treadmill to check my gait (sp?) and I had my trainers from there and they were only £40. Maybe worth a try??

eminemmerdale · 28/04/2013 11:51

Thanks for that - I have found the page that eau suggested, but they still hurt when I tried to do some of the exercises, so will just have to wait a week. The sports shop at the gym will probably be able to help me with my gait, but their trainers are about £100! Hopefully they will just advise me and not want me to buy some !!

meebles · 28/04/2013 11:12

Emin I had painful knees week 1/2, and I rested them for a week and did some knee exercises that Eau recommended further upthread. That really helped me.

if you have a condition that might affect your kness p'raps some professional advice might be beneficial?

eminemmerdale · 28/04/2013 09:51

Snow - where did you go?

eminemmerdale · 28/04/2013 09:51

So pissed off :( My knees are still really painful. Does this mean I have to stop? It's ridiculous - I'm not unfit - why has it happened - really want to carry on

EauRouge · 28/04/2013 09:35

sadloved, you might be surprised, I dropped a dress size in 5 weeks!

How are you getting on Snow? So close to the end!

NoBusinessLikeSnowBusiness · 28/04/2013 09:32

My mumis coming up later so I can go for a run while dp's away after all. Hurrah!

Emin I had a dodgy knee prior to starting c25k. I did my first two runs in walking shoe/trainers and then went and got gait analysed and invested in a good pair of running trainers after lots of fabulous help from the shop staff. They were £75 but worth every penny as I wouldn't still be going without them. I'd really recommend getting a proper pair, which doesn't have to cost as much as that by the way. Your knees and other joints will thank you.

HalleLouja hello. It was your reading your thread that was one of the reasons I started running, so thanks for that Grin. Good luck with second time round. I bet it's easier.

sadlovedgirl · 27/04/2013 21:25

Hello all
Been to go outdoors today and got a great pair of leggings to run in as the pair I was using have stretched either that or I've shrunk highly unlightly and I kept having to hitch them up whilst running, not a pretty sight I can assure you! Anyway I'm really looking forward to Monday now and being able to use them.

elliemummaroos · 27/04/2013 20:53

I did w1r3 and felt good. Looking forward to week 2!! Ellie xXx

binger · 27/04/2013 19:02

Hi all, great another running thread! I posted on another one but the more the better. Can I join you please? I'm due to do w2r3 tomorrow morning but I'm on the wine tonight so we'll see.

I did a 10k 3 years ago and started as a total beginner then and starting from scratch again with c25k. Really enjoying it so far but it's still very early stages. We'll see how I do with the first 10 min run - eek.

dementedma · 27/04/2013 18:46

W3 finished with a flamboyant extra SEVEN minutes tacked on the end just because I could lol. Am feeling it now though

elliemummaroos · 27/04/2013 18:26

I'm restarting c25k. I've signed up for a 5k with DD for charity so slightly worried!! Eek wish me luck guys! Ellie xXx

eminemmerdale · 27/04/2013 13:21

I thought I may die with pain last night - and slept badly but today they seem a lot better thanks Grin may give it a miss for a couple of days though :(

newbeliever · 27/04/2013 12:10

Or a Wine or two!! Thanks Hunter.

HunterWellies · 27/04/2013 12:08

Thanks New. We will sync up at some point I'm sure Wink Sounds like you've earned yourself a croissant in the meantime, have a fabulous day trip!

newbeliever · 27/04/2013 12:05

Well done Hunter!!

newbeliever · 27/04/2013 12:03

Hi everyone, due to do w6r2 today but I think I'm going to give it a miss today. Yesterday was my 'rest day' but I ended up going to the gym (first time in 10 years!!) with a friend who had a guest pass and I don't want to overdo it. Found it all rather boring compared to running outside - was more curious than anything to see how my progress translated to fitness at the gym and my assessment came out as moderately fit - which I was pleased with considering I hadn't done any form of exercise for a long time before starting C25k. I'm a bit achey today and i can't run tomorrow as I'm on a day trip to Paris - Grin Will report back Monday.

HunterWellies · 27/04/2013 12:02

Morning runners :) (Just)

Finished week 6 this morning and I am now utterly convinced that it is easier at this stage to drop the interval runs.

22 minute block today was noticeably easier than the two 10 minutes I did on Thursday and I was out on the beer last night.

So, week 7 starts Monday. 5k I'm coming to get you.......

HalleLouja · 27/04/2013 09:32

I have got to week 9 and a little beyond not that long ago. Am achey today but also did a class on Thursday....

FoundAChopinLizt · 27/04/2013 09:25

And hello Halle! Week 5 EnvyEnvy
