On the subject of dance, dd1 does ballet and I am not girly but seems to be a good activity for her although beginning to get more serious now she's in grade 1 and think she's finding it harder and less fun so don't know how much longer it will last but she loves dancing of all kinds so suspect she'll do something else dancey. They are doing a big show in march which involves far too many performances and rehersals. She does a school dance club too which seems to involve lots of inappropriate shimmies etc. Makes me appreciate ballet all the more.

Oh and sticky you'll be pleased to note my tea is Sea Bass, baked spud and salad. Not an ounce of junk will enter the Fanny Temple.

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 19:04

sticky I've not done it yet. I'm still in running gear so once the maniacs are in bed I'll give it a go and give full report later. Wink Oi, that ain't slow! Did you or did you not do the 3 miles at the intended pace? Yes, you did. Be proud. If you're negative about your running then you'll never progress.

Hello !

rhet- you're definitely be fine and as others have said, you may find
You benefit from the rest. How is dp feeling ?

orange sounds like a good run fear ye not. But disheartening when you feel it goes badly so near a race

I didn't run today. Only my swimming lesson which was much better today as we had a different teacher.

So posting runs. So far this week i have done -

Monday 9.2 miles in 1.20. Which is ok if factoring in stopping quite a lot for crossing roads.

Tuesday - 5k on treadmill , slow but purposefully so... But couldn't use garmin though so can't remember.

I also did 6 miles on Saturday which was hilly (for me) in 49.32 (v proud of that one)

So hopefully treadmill tomorrow to do speed intervals but have a sore shin today. Only started this afternoon and haven't run today so think it's my boots. I spent all last winter moaning about aches and pains which I think were caused by my winter boots. Will do body balance first to stretch.

Can anyone recommend a stretch for shins ?

I have new trainers too! They are my 4th pair of brooks and they are the first pair
In a different colour. Ridiculously pleased Blush

stickyLFDTfingers · 23/11/2011 18:53

moshi great to hear that your up and running (extremely quickly!) again :)

running That's not a slow time - this is a slow time (I was being crocodile dundee there).

Target (following the RW Smartcoach based on my GNR time) 5 miles (3 miles at 9:57). Achieved: 5 miles, 9'49"/mi, 9'57"/mi, 11'01"/mi 9'47"/mi, 10'39"/mi. Running surface: grass, on footpaths/fields. (Are you getting the full pedantic nature of my training schedule now? :))

rhet no, they don't do dance. With DD1 we've experimented with a few different types of extra curricular activities, but it's the sport things she likes best so far. Though I'd be all in favour of ballet, so long as it was sensible. I did it for a few years, but it became a bit all encompassing. When it got to the point, I didn't want to audition for the Royal Ballet School. My friend did, got in, lasted a couple of years, then went a bit haywire, came home covered in tattoos and with a baby! So I think I had a lucky escape. But the posture, strength exercises and general coordination it teaches are great.

fanny imagining shredding with your pyramid of weights - LOL! You tell that Jillian: howja like me now, Bitch? Grin How are you finding it?

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 18:46

Hahaha lulu Grin. I'm corrupting these fine ladies. Don't tell your DH. You ok my love? I was wondering where you'd gone. You're on whatsapp aren't you? I'll app you later...

sorry for the gatecrash

jogs slowly out of thread>>

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 18:38

Great running and believe me, with 7 hill repeats, my pace wouldn't be any better. Smile

OP posts:
RunningAllDay · 23/11/2011 18:23

Oh dear, I shall be the first of the slower people to post today's run:
3.5M, av pace 9:35, including 7 hill repeats. Coughed and snuffled all the way round, but can't claim my cold is making me slower as this was an improvement on previous time Blush Found myself thinking, Pah, who am I fooling thinking I can run a marathon? Sad

orangeLFDThead · 23/11/2011 18:16

You don't do things by half do you fanny you only need two weights at a time Grin

orangeLFDThead · 23/11/2011 18:13

Rhet I usually find if I have a few days break for whatever reason my next run is really good. It happened last week I missed my monday run so was nervous as I had not run since the friday and I was upping mileage on the wednesday. But it went great on the wednesday and I did it faster than expected. Sometimes a litle break does you, don't worry. Plus you need to make sure you are fit and healthy for the big event or your dp may kill you.
Ds2 does street dancing which he loves. They also do yoga at school, very different from when I did p.e and I am Shock at how flexible he is. Ds1 takes after me ad not very flexible.
Regarding expressing rhetI just couldn't express with ds1, I would be sat there an hour and only get one or two ounces off. But with ds2 20 mins expressing I could get 7or 8 ounces off. So there is hope.

MoshiMoshi · 23/11/2011 18:12

Correction. Recoveries were 1 min not 1M.

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 18:02

Nice one too FergieAkaRhet. Don't apologise for pace, this is not what it's about. We're all individual.

OP posts:
rhetorician · 23/11/2011 17:59

she also loves horse - I think I'd make a spectacularly bad ballet mum!

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 17:58

Nice one MoshiFarahonaMoped - one day I dream I can be just like you!! WinkGrin

I'm shredding in a bit. Get this, I bought weights too! A fucking pyramid of them. Blush

OP posts:
sfxmum · 23/11/2011 17:58

rhet I can't hack it as a ballet mum I avoided it until dd begged then she went and hated the teacher although she still does 'ballet' at home. Horse riding is good for posture and much more her thing

Priest is dh's friend weird bunch from school priest, lawyer, surgeon and dh who mucks about with computers. Almost a joke in there

rhetorician · 23/11/2011 17:56

on bf - DD1 was fed until about 8 months when she more or less stopped herself - although then all her digestive problems began (minor in the larger scheme of things, but hey). DP was heroic - it didn't come easily and was always a struggle. She couldn't express which meant that she never got a break - we're hoping it will be easier this time, and that she can express - then I (or her mother) can mind the baby the mornings that she goes to college. Otherwise I suspect DD2 will get a much shorter run at it. Fingers crossed.

Think I am going to have to post my training paces and pretend they are m/min rather than km/min....ha ha ha (remember that I am actively trying to run slowly at the moment)

Last run on Monday was 4 miles dead, 48 minutes, 12 m/mi at 62% of MHR...about 137bpm

MoshiMoshi · 23/11/2011 17:49

Nice one fanbo. OK, I went for a run on the G Trainer today after seeing my Physio who said the sprain was minor (hurrah!) I did a 2M W/U followed by 4x1M (6:49, 6:40, 6:31, 6:19) with 1M recoveries, followed by 0.5M C/D. Total 7M av pace 7:10m/m.

Look - we're talking about running again! Grin

rhetorician · 23/11/2011 17:48

fanny I spend half of my life trying to determine whether sick notes are genuine or not...worry not, I'll be out tomorrow (or perhaps in on treadmill). It's not like me to not feel like going out, so I guess I should listen to that - but not for too long!

love your dds exploits, sticky - DD actually copied first position from the ballet thingy on cbeebies yesterday. I hated the very idea, but actually I'd be happy enough for her to want to do it - strength, flexibility and all that. Do any of your dds do any kind of dance - my dd has always loved it, but there are some roads I don't want to go down (Irish dancing e.g. kids in full make up and permatans at the age of 6 Shock)

MoshiMoshi · 23/11/2011 17:44

rhet I think you are excused with DD2 on the way. But tell yourself to wake up with purpose and just get out with a bit of LFDT.

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 17:43

Run. 3 miles. 23m17s average pace 7.46. Felt quite hard Blush

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 17:41

You got a sick note hey rhet HEY?? ANSWER ME BITCH?!!

Did that work honeybee...?! Grin

rhet my love, I'll let you off just this once but unless you have a reason that I approve of tomorrow, then you have to do double the hills on Friday. Comprende? Wink

Right I'm gonna start the new posts listing our runs. I'm flouncing if no-one does it too... (you now have a good chance to get shut of my fellow rubbers)

OP posts:
stickyLFDTfingers · 23/11/2011 17:40

don't be daft, rhet! Though I do diagnose an allergy to long and boring meetings. You should get Health and Safety on to that...

If you're not going down with anything and manage to get out tomorrow, I expect you'll run all the better for the (very brief) rest.

DDs are doing the can can again. The whole house is shaking Grin

rhetorician · 23/11/2011 17:32

I am cowering because fanny will shout at me when she gets back...didn't run yesterday and in the end didn't run today either (I had a very bad morning, and then was sitting in a meeting thinking 'this is going on and on' and then ' I feel a bit feverish, my throat is sore')

Please reassure me that my legs won't fall off, or my weight balloon, or that I will struggle tomorrow. I feel completely peculiar - it's a really long time since I went 2 days without a run, except after a race.

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 17:03

orange I agree about ignorance many health professionals have over BF. I convinced a couple of my friends to BF and they couldn't thank me enough when they'd finished as they loved it. I even got flowers sent by one as she poopooed the idea before I pointed out the benefits. I think positive role models are a huge importance in getting the message across to young women especially. It has to be seen as "trendy". I'd love to be a BF counseller, I've loads of ideas how to get the rate higher. The amount of money the NHS would save if more mums BF is huge. I don't understand why more isn't done to promote it.

Fanny's Breastfeeding boot camp next...
