I dread the shred, let alone the shred thread. Time for bed. Gedd (it)? think I am slightly delirious...

monkeyLFDTwench · 23/11/2011 21:35

drN fucking matey bubbles - classic, you're so funny.

cherry how exciting! Not going for the big meringue then?! We got married at St Peters, later used for filming the wedding of Bianca and RIIIICCKKKAAAAYYY! Had a small wedding though, so we barely filled the front couple of pews Smile.

So, did tonight's run - only 3.5 miles but tried hill repeats. Found the steepest shortest hill I could and did x 6. Only took 45 seconds each time though, so not much of an effort - next time I'll do more.

No shred today! Ran out of time this evening. fanny this is where the shred gets you, you start off thinking "hmm bit easy" and by the end you're begging for Jillian to STFU. I did level 2 yesterday, so am definitely feeling it today. Outdoor circuits tomorrow, trainer is lovely but a Jekyll and Hyde depending on how many hours sleep he got the night before (new dad Smile).

Just assembling ds2's costume for Roman Day tomorrow, why do they always do this in winter?

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 21:31

Oh oh oh we do DOUBLE shred...?! I'm flouncing the Shred Thread.

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 23/11/2011 21:27

Orange wedding is next may. Quite looking forward to it. Hopefully all this running will mean I am in good shape.

Re shred, I keep meaning to try a double shred session I.e level two then three. Cant be worse than a bmf session

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 21:25

hat is the perfect antidote to my posts ain't she!

wheely you'll steam the Brighton Half. You did the GSR in great time. I wish I'd have got more experience in shorter distance races before doing the HMs. It's the experiences which make you realise what type of racer you are.

OP posts:
MoshiMoshi · 23/11/2011 21:01

hat - I loved your post. You are fabulous and so grounded I really love reading about your runs and trips. If you are humbled by what you saw, then shame on me for moaning about a silly ankle sprain. Keep on keeping on, girl.

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 21:00

orange believe me, your time for a training run wasn't a struggle time. However if you felt not right doing it, it could be the onset of an illness. Hope you feel better tomorrow chuck.

DrNo pyramid not set up yet, it has screws and I don't screw... Oh dear, let's hope Garmin resurrects tonight. I'll keep you in my prayers.

cherry great time for your DH for his 10k.

OP posts:
DrNortherner · 23/11/2011 20:56

cherrylove 39 mins for your dh?! Wow. Fab time.

The garmin is showing a blank screen and won't turn on He assures me he didn't immerse it, but as I ran into the bathroom it rather suspiciously was covered in fucking matey bubbles. He is now ranting that for what it cost it should be waterproof because 'what if you wore it as a watch and wanted to go swimming?' Hmm It is perched on top of a radiator to dry out. It better be OK by morning Angry

fanny I have a mental image of your pyramid of weights taking pride of place in your living room, we all make do with a set that we lob under our non S&M style beds but being the ponce you are you have a pyramid of dumbells on display Grin You do make me chuckle!! Am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my headband, thanks so much Smile

orangeLFDThead · 23/11/2011 20:56

Running I think you will find I'm slower.
When is the wedding cherry?
Loving the shred report fanny. I started with 3lb weights and after a few sessions decided I definitely need to go and buy 2lb ones before I moved up to level 2.
Really not feeling good, very shivery, stomach cramps and lots of toilet trips. Hoping that might be why really struggled on run, although it was very hilly.

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 20:56

It's in integral part of the cool down Rhet that I didn't do.

OP posts:
rhetorician · 23/11/2011 20:37

fanny I think that typing is probably an integral part of the shred experience...

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 20:32

Dear Mother of God DrNo - he might as well have pissed all over the Altar of Garmin. Send him on a retreat to Lourdes for a month for redemption. Will you recover from the shock? More importantly, is The Garmin okay...? Shock

wheely - now don't fret, I eased myself gently into this thread didn't I? I just don't think they are quite ready for me over there yet though.

Right SHRED IS DONE!

Full Shred report:-

I sat on the sofa and tentatively open the DVD. I placed it in the DVD player and switched on TV. DD1 waits with bated breath at what her Mother is about to do. She looks concerned. Up pops Jillian looking rather thick in the waist. Has she been on steroids I wonder... Oh well, carry on. Decides to use the 2.3kg weights from the pyramid. Hmm Dickhead move.

Warming up nearly kills me, toenails are still looking dodgy as fuck but manages to do jumping jacks Natalie stylee. Moves on to press ups. I couldn't even to beginner ones. Upper body strength of a mouse. Bravely struggles on.

Gets cocky, am thinking "what are those rubbing ladies on about, this is piss easy". Starts the squats with thingymajics (shoulder presses I think). All good. Then I hear a child shout "I need a poo". Come back, start again. Hear "my bum is sore". Runs upstairs with Sudocrem> Come back start again. At this point it was becoming hell.

Time goes on, this is getting hard I'm thinking. Then the 2.3kg weights start to show their strength on the side lunges with thingimajics, I admit defeat and lash them on the couch. I'm sure Jillian is laughing at me in my hazed state.

DD2 and DD3 decide to sod the iPad and see what all the grunting is. I am exhausted. DD3 is lying on me as I am attempting reverse crunches. I give up. DD1 is crying that she hasn't had "GRACE TIME" and "Mummy you are embarrassing me!!!".

I am fucked. It is good. That is all.

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 23/11/2011 20:29

Oh and (sorry for all my chattering) dp managed a 39 minute 10k today Grin. If anyone was in battersea park today, it was the met police 10k

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 23/11/2011 20:27

Drn - yes there is caselaw to support negligent destruction of garmins as divorce grounds Wink Has it survived?

Was it you or someone else asking about shin stretches? I thought shin probs were parrot caused by tight calves so stretch those out well. Also if it's shin splints, try massaging away from shin to side of leg

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 23/11/2011 20:23

Evening all

No running for me today (I know fannyjillianbanjo , I'm naughty!) as completely exhausted. But it's my turn for rubbing club tomorrow and I am geekily excited for it.

Hat your trip sounds amazing. How nice to get together with other amazing women

I did have a great day as had half day hols and went for a child and men free lunch with my mum and then WEDDING dress shopping - so exciting! I think I may have found the one at candy Anthony in London , but am debating going for bridal ivory or red. My mum and I were like kids when we got out of the shop, literally jumping up and down with excitement !

rhetorician · 23/11/2011 20:19

DrNo Shock definitely counts as mental cruelty, at the very least. Give him your old one, and tell him that he owes you a new one...how long did the 7.3 miles take, or is the Garmin too fecked to be able to find out?

well we had piperade and bread. Yum.

DrNortherner · 23/11/2011 20:15

Oh MY GOD.

After dh's 41 min 10 k on Sunday he has now decided to become 'a serious runner' so tonight off he goes for a run after I gave him a lesson on how to use the garmin. He is a technophobe. He runs 7.3 miles, comes back and runs a bath. I hear him singing and splashing around. Then, from the bathroom he shouts:

'Dr N, is the Garmin waterproof?'

He got in the frigging bath with my garmin on

You lawyer types on here - is Garmin abuse grounds for divorce?

Wheelybug · 23/11/2011 19:33

Thanks re posting Fanny.... And yes am doing Brighton half in feb.

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 19:25

DrNo yes was supposed to be going but DH working so tough shit really!! Your headband was posted on my way out for run but I've missed the post do it should be with you Friday. wheely yours too. Smile. Sounds like a boring day for you DrNo, bet you the guy was happy watching you squat away!

wheely great time, can't remember but are you training for a half?

sticky ohhh your dinner sounds lovely. Still undecided over GNR too. May go for it kiddo, I'll regret it won't I?

Right, put the dear youngest children to bed with the IPad BlushBlush so I can shred. I'm at the opening of DVD box stage. I'm sweating at that as its so tightly wrapped. Hey, there's a SHRED thread??!! Why, I can go corrupt them!!

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 23/11/2011 19:21

Do you think they're ready for fanny us drno ?

stickyLFDTfingers · 23/11/2011 19:15

ooh, that sounds nice fanny - can I come over for dins? Grin Tho actually we are on tuna steak with ratatouille and mash, so not entirely different. Good luck with my best girls...

Must put my high kicking maniacs to bed too.

DrNortherner · 23/11/2011 19:10

Yes wheely we have our own little shred club going on too. Perhaps we can invade the shred thread en masse?

Wheelybug · 23/11/2011 19:09

Oh and my copy of shred arrived today.

DrNortherner · 23/11/2011 19:08

fanny I thought your running club started tonight or have you negged out?

No run for me today. REST day. I have done 3 days solid of hard work. At work today I had to restock the tuck shop as I am on charidee committee and I had to squat down whist carrying boxes of various haribo to pick up a sack of chocolate peanuts and I actually cried out in pain. The boring bastard guy from finance who was assisting looked at me lie I was a freak.

rhet hope you are ok my dear. However, 2 rest days in a row IS ALLOWED YOU KNOW. You won't lose speed/form/gain pounds/turn into a grumpy cowbag. It will be OK Smile

hat what an amazing post, and an amazing experience to run in Ethiopia. I agree with everything you just said. Getting older brings a contentment I guess, and, I don't care about folk liking me so much as I have such great family and friends who love me for who I am. I am off to Solihull a week on Sat with me gals and planning a run, wonder if I will have such a spiritual journey there? Grin

moshi glad the ankle is not serious. Tip - don't wear shoes with ankle straps whilst the cankle is present - not a good look!
