LET'S FUCKING DO IT....!

Fanny you are turning into my MIL who also has seasonal curtains...

Peach DS1 was a very small & frequent feeder, and midwife suggested changing nappy after every fee....worked a treat as it meant it roused him a bit to come back for "seconds". We carried on with that habit for months...

Re antosocialness on public transport - was on a tube once sitting at one end of carriage, jsut before train left, lady comes rushing on as doors are closing. She came in to the train with such speed that she tripped over and fell flat on her face. She was at the other end of the carriage from me, so about 30 (occupied) seats away from me. She stood up obviously embarrassed and obviously in agony as had gone down on her knees. Not one bugger near her offered her a seat, though they must have seen/heard. So it was left to me to holler down the carraige "do you want a seat?" I felt so embarassed on her behalf as she had to limp the entire length of the carriage to get my seat. Why are people so ignorant?

Running just read your tip about folding baby.....eek! Reminds me of DS1 who had torticollis (neck muscles in one side shorter thn neck muscles in other side) causing him to tilt his head. We had to yank his head round several times a day...

Survived recorders, thanks for words of encouragement. One group (of 3) is completely wild, never listen etc. One girl walked in anouncing she did not want to sit next to girl x, than the others one by one said they didn't want to. They had all fallen out over a playground game. I told them I didn't want to hear about any falling out and suggested they al make friends again. (is anyone finding MN v slow today? It can't keep up with my typing)

rhetorician · 25/11/2011 13:43

nothing doing...

DP sighs a lot. And said 'oh, leaking'. But it was just the roof. I told her she could not say such words out of context at the moment...Hmm

I am also of the boss arse mind set - I will say to dog owners walking away from their dog's shit 'you are going to pick that up, aren't you?' etc etc. Or ' you are disturbing the other passengers with your music'
DDs will be mortified or join in

yet another disturbing way in which I am turning into my mother :o

fannybanjo · 25/11/2011 13:39

Monkey - ditto, I'm the one who pipes up.

Ladies, if I said I was currently febreezing them whilst ironing them, would that make me a total twat?

peach I had a really bad time feeding ds1, different to you in that he just wasn't strong enough to stay sucking. So we had this constant latch on, fall asleep thing. I used to strip him off, tickle him, all to no avail. In the end I just accepted he was Mr Little And Often, but it was very hard and I ended up feeding him (well with a boob in his mouth at least) nearly all day and night. If you can be a leeeetle more conscious of getting a feeding routine going I think that would be good, but I do think a lot of it is personality on the baby's part. Ds2 on the other hand - my God, what a greedy guts. I could never feed him enough and he had this awful way of grappling with my boobs when I tried to get him off!

Neither of my oldest would take a dummy, but ds3 loved his and it was a great comfort to him. He always liked the flattened ones like my poor battered nips rather than the cherry ones.

ibby that's just horrible, what a vile man but good for you for stepping up. You did the right thing, good on you.

fanny I can be a miserable old bag if I see antisocial behaviour, DH just cringes when he sees me wade in, but if I see someone dropping litter or being rude I'll step in. I was on a train recently and there were two girls with an iPod playing music really loudly and screeching in an irritating way. I just said "girls can you turn that off please, it's annoying" - they looked utterly shocked, but were as good as gold the rest of the journey. Three or four passengers mouthed thank you to me, but why did no one else say anything to them? And I absolutely will not tolerate a bully.

Rhet getting excited for you now my dear, keep obsessively checking wondering if things are underway, you can't leave the thread for a quick wee without us all speculating where you are!

Double shred today - shoulders are burning from level 2! Smile

RunningAllDay · 25/11/2011 13:36

peach - more keeping awake tips - one I was told by my midwife when DD1 was born (an EXTREMELY sleepy baby) was 'jack-knifing'. Bascically, when they are halfway thro' feed, or threatening to drop off when feeding, you hold the baby one hand under each end (head and legs, resting bum on your knee) and fold the baby. Fairly sharply. And repeatedly. It sounds horribly cruel (and I nearly fell over when she first showed me using my brand-new ultra-PFB) but I did have cause to use the technique several times!

This was in NZ, but my midwife was British. Not sure if its recommended here!

No running today, depsite the glorious weather - resting up for Sunday. Did get my HR book through the post so am sneakily reading it in DD1s bedroom spring cleaning DD1s bedroom and saving it for this evening.

Please stop making us (or just me?!) feel inadeqate fanny! I bet you seasonally change out your wardrobe too, and its all laundered and pressed and put away with lavender bags....

peachLFDTsmuggler · 25/11/2011 13:28

Omfg fanny, you are a legend. Seasonal curtains! You couldn't make this shit up!!!! Grin

fannybanjo · 25/11/2011 13:07

Is I, not is me. That's a bloody Internet website.

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 25/11/2011 13:06

Haha yeah that's me! Arthur Scargill of Chester Mother's Anti bullying campaign is me.

I wish it was a wind up. No, I'm ironing curtains, I'm changing the landing ones from summer ones to winter. Hahahahaha I have for the first time ever, made myself laugh out loud. I'm hoovering as I type this. There is no limit to my capabilities.

OP posts:
peachLFDTsmuggler · 25/11/2011 12:58

Well done fanny, you are a pillar of the community!!!

Now, ironing curtains. This is a wind up, yes?

fannybanjo · 25/11/2011 12:42

Peach. Buy a few different types but mind took to the old style brown latex ones, more soft like err, a nipple.

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 25/11/2011 12:40

I need one don't Ms Ferguson? Gonna look at amazon but firstly, have curtains to
iron...

Hey, chuffed with myself today - I raised £160 for preschool doing the GNR and they've bought a new water table, dolls, prams and other lovely jubbly stuff!

OP posts:
peachLFDTsmuggler · 25/11/2011 12:40

ibby, what a vile man! Glad you were there to be kind to that poor woman.

DrNo, glad DN and DG ok Smile

thanks the advice ladies. I definitely am going to demand feed, but today's strategy is stripping her off to feed, which is working right now as the little poppet is feeding right now and fairly alert. DD was helping me blow in K's face yesterday to no avail!! Evening cluster feeding would be great as I can just sit on the sofa reading improving books watching shit tv. dummy a good idea fanny, am sure we must have some about as tried every one under the sun to settle DD1 when she had colic. She spat them all out! DP and MIL out taking DD1 to swimming so having lively peaceful time, just me and K.

Hope you fing the fleecy soon Rhet. you have reminded me we don't have a baby bath, as we borrowed last time. We do have a tummy tub though sp that will last a few weeks.

Moshi, have you tracked down G Trainer yet in SF???

Hope it is as beautiful where you all are (running) as it is in London today!

rhetorician · 25/11/2011 12:37

yeah, sounds good to me

fannybanjo · 25/11/2011 12:34

rhet my friend had hers on today and on the easy pace heart rate was approx 125-130 then rose to 170 on the steep hills. Her max should be 185. That sound right to you?

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 25/11/2011 12:33

hat I wouldn't resort to violence Wink but I'd certainly put him straight!! Couple of my old bosses have had the lashing of my tongue on a few occasions when they have treated people poorly. It may sound like a cliche, but I don't tend to take shit off anyone, people should earn respect, it's not a given. I'm very very nice to people though and go a long way to help anyone but bullies, nah, won't tolerate them. Anyone bullies my kids, I'll be on their parents doorsteps to sort it out. I'm not volatile at all, I just like people to be treated fairly. Make a good Union boss I've been told. HmmGrin

OP posts:
rhetorician · 25/11/2011 12:29

peach lovey, I am not ignoring your trauma, just very conscious that we will be there in only a few days.

We have lots of kit, seemingly for tiny girl, but no fleecy wrap anywhere. Fucking freezing in the attic.

Would be v. curious to know what HR you are running at fanny - just for my records, dontcha know?

Hatwoman · 25/11/2011 12:26

Smile at fanny - you really aren't someone to mess with you are you?

Hatwoman · 25/11/2011 12:24

ibby what a story. well done for showing the lady kindness and compassion - you almost certainly had a big impact - one that hopefully redressed the selfish behaviour of the bloke

fannybanjo · 25/11/2011 12:18

Oh was 6.67 mile run. Smile

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 25/11/2011 12:17

I'd have smashed the phone in that obnoxious bastard's bollocks. Seriously, I would. Bullies make me froth.

peach you can go one way or the other re feeding. I was of the "on demand" camp but I could be as unlike Moshi, didn't have to rush back to work. However, all 3 within a few weeks fell into a good pattern. I made sure it was food they were after and although not everyone's cup of tea, they all had dummies so I could see if they just wanted some comfort. Took the dummies away when they got older. I think Kate will get the day and night mix up sorted within a week or so. If not, then you'll need to intervene! Try not to get too stressed as it will pass very soon.

Run completed, we decided again LSR.

Hill reps with 1.5 mile warm up and cool down. Easy pace. 9.35. Climb of 140 foot per rep x 4. Kept pace at 9.30m/m throughout. Piss easy today, can't believe how easy hills now are - my friend said the same. Need HRM desperately.

drN good to hear DN is on the mend scary stuff but so glad there are means to heal.

ibby re recorder, when dd's teacher is away and a substitute take the class they usually just do short exercises
hideous episode with VIP and woman, I think some people need to publicly reinforce their basterdness authority

peach dd was a very sleepy feeder, but she was jaundiced, I had to strip her or blow gently on her face to keep her awake enough to feed. I hope it settles soon into a better rhythm for your sake

not sure if I will manage to run today, study taking priority, still sore from yesterday but it was so good to kick and punch while shouting, I just never do that, must repeat next week

good luck for the weekend racers, I must make a start on Christmas shopping, so far only dd is sorted

rhetorician · 25/11/2011 11:59

ibby why was he being such a git? poor lady - at least you showed her respect and kindness

cannot advise on recorders - but how wrong can it go? if they all start tooting uncontrollably, you'll all just dissolve into giggles

am about to venture into attic to dig out baby car seat, baby bath, baby rocker (you get the picture!) and to hope that I can find the lovely fleecy wrap that we had for DD1

ibbydibby · 25/11/2011 11:37

DrNo sorry about DN, glad she is improving. Scary stuff though

No run for me today (in fact have not run since Tues Blush) saving myself for big day on Sun.

Knackered after meeting in London yesterday and didn't sleep well last night. Bit of an incident where a Very Important Mantold a lady in her 60s (at a guess) to use an earpiece instead of using her phone on speaker - we could hear all her convo. However she very politely explained that she was deaf and could not use an earpiece. Also said she was under pressure as daughter il with cancer. He just would not back down though and went on and on. Was horrible, so when he had gone back to his seat I went and asked her if she would like me to get her a tea or coffee - and she burst into tears. Felt so sad and sorry for her

Friday lunchtimes I usually help a friend run a recorder club at school - am no musical prodigy, just have ability to play simple stuff, and correct children if playing wrong notes etc. Anyway she is unable to do it today and asked if I was ok to go it alone (alternative is to cancel). So I said yes, and am now bricking it......

rhetorician · 25/11/2011 11:13

oh dear moshi - but not surprising with everything you've been through in the last few weeks - get well soon!

weather here has improved now that I am inside in the warm and dry - did a cold, windy and somewhat squally 5 miles - I have pleasing amounts of mud on my legs...forgot HRM in the palaver of getting out the door, so ran by feel - did 10.25 m/mi or thereabouts and it felt easy, so am delighted with that. Back to the monitor tomorrow though!

Hatwoman · 25/11/2011 10:47

DrNo it's on the "basics" page - rather than in my pics. the snow capped mountains are in fact a frozen waterfall - if you look very carefully you can see some climbers
