A space for us all to get together for relief from caring, share news, frustrations, problems, or just have a rant. Everyone and everything welcome (though if you have a big problem needing advice, you may want to start a new thread so as to be heard above the noise of the clanking gin bottles and general chatter)

Yep me too sarnie
Allons! Middle aged women in full throttle....

thesandwich · 15/10/2019 19:35

nora hope the pool did its magic. Love the roaches name!! Hope you are feeling better today.
Love yolos flash mob idea!

AutumnRose1 · 15/10/2019 19:17

Nora glad you're feeling better.

If I ever met the brothers Grimm, I'd.....well, I don't think I can say really!!

flamingnoravera · 15/10/2019 07:07

You roaches are fab. I feel stronger this morning. I'm going to swim before work (not managed this for weeks), go to work and find a lawyer.

I had a session with a financial planner last night which was reassuring re paying for mums care and hopefully leaving some of her savings as inheritance. It was after he'd gone that the Grimm text arrived.

Right, better get up and get down to the pool. I've a km to do to get my energy levels up.

I'll go see mum after work for an hour too.

notaflyingmonkey · 15/10/2019 06:58

Let's all go with Nora to strip the place. A bunch of middle aged women with an agenda - who'd mess with us?

Don't internalise things though Nora, Yolo is right there, we are all here for you to vent at any time. Sending you cockroaches (or rather a plague on the BG's houses…)

yolofish · 14/10/2019 23:40

grinchly yes to flora botanicca and loving your cockroach emoticons! good move on the bedding, I bought myself a very expensive but extremely beautiful coat today courtesy of my inheritance.

nora the BG are aptly named... please dont cry, I'm sure we can come up with something. How about saying that you will remove immediate personal effects during lunch but obviously they will understand that further time is needed to make the necessary arrangements for other things? And then obviously gut the place, putting anythign of theirs on the pavement? (only joking, obvs...)

flamingnoravera · 14/10/2019 22:27

Shit hot lawyer.

I can't tell him to fuck off because I'm supposed to be acting sensibly as my mums attorney and he would love to have ammunition to make me out to be unsuitable or volatile. Once their dad goes, they'll get full guns.

notaflyingmonkey · 14/10/2019 22:03

What's an SHL?

Why don't you just tell G1 to fuck himself Nora? Sounds long overdue to me.

thesandwich · 14/10/2019 21:45

Oh nora that is awful! Sending huge hug. 🌺🌺🍷🍷
I can’t offer any wisdom- not sure if @hatgirl has any advice but a SHL sounds the right move now you’ve got your mum out.
And tell the gp all.

flamingnoravera · 14/10/2019 21:30

Hi all it's me again. With Grimm problems again. Mum has settled reasonably well but understandably wants to see her husband. It's his birthday on Sunday. I contacted Grimm 1 to find out details of their plans, they are going to take him out for lunch. I'm going to take mum.
I told G1 I'd pop over to the flat to pick up some clothes while they are at lunch.
I got a text back telling me to remove everything of my mother's whilst there to prepare it for sale. I'm on my own and it'll take days not an hour. She's only been gone for two weeks. I've already said at least a month needs to go by and see how the land lies, it's sill her home. How the fuck does he think that I can do what he demands in an hour while mum has lunch with her husband?
I'm so angry I've decided it's time to get a SHL and tell em to piss off. I'm off to find one tomorrow, I talked to one a few months ago but we are now in a different territory.
I'm fighting the urge to send a text to say fuck off to the far side of fuck etc. But my desire to not let them see me get angry is (only just) holding me back.
Instead I'm weeping quiet tears into my pillow and pouring it out here.

thesandwich · 14/10/2019 19:38

Excellent grinchly😉😉

Grinchly · 14/10/2019 19:30

Just ordered some lovely bedding from Bedeck. Just because! 😁

Grinchly · 14/10/2019 18:57

I love this! GrinGrin🐜🐜🐜
Frequent lurker, waves to thesandwich andyolofish ( are you enjoying the Florabotannica? I wear it often too and think of you!)
Just posted a rant about PoA and photo ID , if anyone can help, please pile in. I am beyond stressed with it all...

AutumnRose1 · 13/10/2019 23:42

Jace I need another day off after your Sunday!

I wish I could be more of a busy person but I can't. What you've described is a super busy day for me, minus shopping, I don't shop in person, only online. Hate shops and shopping.

JaceLancs · 13/10/2019 23:39

I took your advice n took today off as well!
Car boot n coffee with DP
Smaller amounts of housework
Cleared out old car for sale
Went shopping with DD this PM - leisure activity we like to shop!
Spent evening listing stuff to sell on eBay
Collapsed in bed after a few bacardis
Tea break over - back to work tomorrow - will visit DF and DM after work

AutumnRose1 · 13/10/2019 10:24

Jace I'd also need a day off after your day off.

My flat looks mad. And it's Sunday and I've just woken up.

Slightly annoyed with a (sort of) friend this week. She used to say quite bluntly that she went into therapy because she couldn't cope with her oldies. They lived mikes away so she never did day to day. Her brother lived near them and did it.

Now they've both died in the last couple of years, she gets angry if anyone moans about their parents and says "my parents are DEAD, how do you think I feel?"

I think a couple of people might eventually remind her of what she used to say....

notaflyingmonkey · 13/10/2019 09:23

I was telling my boss recently about the BP. The GP asked me to go to the surgery to do 3 separate readings, I've done 2, both of which were really high and was putting off the third on the basis I could probably lower it by going to the gym etc. He looked at me in horror and said get yourself to the bloody GP. It was one of those moments where the stuff I tell myself in my head didn't quite stand up when exposed to the outside world!

thesandwich · 13/10/2019 09:04

nota that’s great to hear. The milkman is a lifesaver for dm.
So glad you are seeing gp. It will help you cope with everything. Give them the whole story.
Sometimes when we are so deep in the s£&* we can’t see the easy fixes and havent got the brain space to deal with them. That’s where the wisdom on this thread kicks in. 🌺🌺
Love the amazon cat!!

MereDintofPandiculation · 13/10/2019 09:00

nota My GP said "well, yes, you could reduce it by doing about X hours of exercise a day, but, let's face it, that's not going to happen, is it? Make life easier for yourself".

Jace Your one day off, and you're doing housework, DIY, ironing, shopping and sorting out car! I'd want another day off after that!

notaflyingmonkey · 13/10/2019 08:49

Thanks for the hand holds and advice all. I have now sorted for her to have milk and bread delivered (why on earth I didn't think of this before, I don't know). And I have a GP appointment lined up for Friday to take whatever he is going to say about my BP on the chin, as it may well time for meds.

MereDintofPandiculation · 13/10/2019 08:32

She was 91 this week and, I fear, likely to outlive me. Yes, I know how you feel! But you can have good quality of life with multiple health problems. I've been on BP medication and various other medications for about 10 years and feel healthier than I have done for a good while. Makes getting travel insurance difficult, though.

MereDintofPandiculation · 13/10/2019 08:29

On the subject of cats, DM spent last winter talking about getting one. I really had to work on not saying but that would be another bloody thing for me to look after, take to appointments, etc.

£105 from Amazon. Even my father, who is not yet diagnosed with dementia, appears to think this is a real cat.
