hi river, my mum died suddenly and unexpected in may, i feel your pain. You will get through it, people who havent had a parent die just dont know how it is. You will feel lost for a few months but you will heal. Dont feel pressured to do anything or get over it quickly because you wont.
sending my blessings x

I'm so sorry. Flowers No matter how expected, it is always an awful shock.

I know with my grandmother who died in her 90s and my dad who's 91, they certainly reach a time when they're prepared to die. I do think it's very different when you reach that age; you're so tired and all your friends and family of the same generation have gone. It's their time to go.

I hope your girls can give you some comfort. It's so different at that age, they're not so shocked by an elderly person dying and you need someone who can understand your loss.

Do you have any siblings or cousins? Was there anyone left of your mum's generation, eg her siblings, cousins or friends?

So sorry. My mum died three years ago and it is shit. It is such a huge thing and I remember wondering how the world around me could just carry in as normal when something so massive had happened.

Be kind to yourself. Flowers

River I am sorry to read your sad news Flowers losing my mother eight years ago was beyond painful and I am shedding tears of empathy for you writing this. Hope you can find strength to move through the coming days.

Fishboneschokus · 22/09/2015 22:14

River
I'm sorry that you are alone. Will you be able to sleep at all?
(Possibly stupid question)
I'll be up for a bit.

RiverWhy · 22/09/2015 22:12

OP I lost my dad three weeks ago now. There is a thread in Bereavement called "Support for anyone who has lost a parent" and although it is the club no one wants to join, there is a lot of good support over there. I hope you will come on over if/when you feel up to it.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

Friends you can call?

Samaritans? At least you can talk about your feelings!

Or just go out and dig your garden ( I know, I'm weird, but that's what I did when I was told my DDad had died.... And it was therapeutic, by torch light tho')

mrstweefromtweesville · 22/09/2015 22:02

I am so sorry for your loss.

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I hope so, and will post it anyway. I had a near-death experience, about ten years ago. I saw the bright white/gold light, a garden, all the usual things. I heard my name called and ran towards the light. There was an overwhelming sense of love and joy. Love so great that forgiveness was no longer an issue. Joy so great that one would never wish to be parted from it. I was asked if there was anything left I needed to do, and I replied that I thought my dd hadn't finished with me yet. Instantly I was back in my life. The experience left me with a conviction that there is something afterwards, its not necessarily much like what comes before, but there is love and joy waiting and none of us, not one, is excluded.

May your mum have reached love and joy. Thinking of you and hoping you can find some comfort.

Hope you have RL support. Brew Flowers
