Violence against women and girls in Gaza.....

Even if you are in a war torn environment there is no excuse for alarming rates of sexual violence against women in Gaza. I think this highlights the fact that women suffer the most in Islamist governed territories like Gaza where women's rights have been historically removed. Hamas as a government aren't preventing this (weirdly enough) so what can be done. (Maybe a march?)

It's not just happening in Gaza!
There are some horrific stories of women and kids being violently abused in Sudan.
Guess Sudan is just not as on trend to have daily discussions about 😥

It’s awful, men rape women when they can get away with it, I’m not sure that religion even matters, it’s always been that way and probably always well. Those poor poor people.

Saddened but not surprised. There are Gazan men who raped women in Israel on 7th October, raped and assaulted both male and female hostages in Gaza for two years after, there was a Yazidi sex slave discovered there... of course such men would also be a danger to Gazan women and children. That's who they'll have been practicing on before the pogrom.

I remember thinking during some of the prisoner/hostage release swaps, while I supported the policy, I wouldn't want to be the woman some of these men would be sleeping next to that night. Given what we know about the association with paramilitary/extreme political violence and VAWG, and the fact that Hamas wanted their own members back in the swaps.

Shocking details in that report that you won’t see widespread condemnation of. Even from those usually vocal about Gaza.

Rape victims forced to marry their rapists to avoid shame and scandal.

Early or child marriage involving girls as young as 12.

Women and children are suffering as a direct result of the protracted war. Open Gaza, shine a light on what's been happening over the last 3 years.

No even if your country is at war and there is a lack of effective police it does not give you the right to rape.

There is no governance in Gaza so the international community let's these women suffer. Can't we put more pressure on Hamas to disarm so that they can have a government that acts for women instead of just letting the female populace be victims of rape and sexual assault?
