Palestinian lives are definitely worth protecting. Several of the “charities” claiming to do so were actually sending their money to Hamas though so “putting his money where his mouth is” can mean helping Hamas who torture and murder their own people just for criticising them.

And even when a charity hasn’t been set up as a front for Hamas, they often just take the money anyway. Who do you think was selling aid at such inflated prices during the war? The charities who’d given it for free? 😬

Yes, I feel very sorry for him. Bit as always, the radical left (as perfectly demonstrated by many of the responses on this thread), think they they can destroy someone’s life if they don’t share the same opinions or dare step over the line.

There are conflicts going on all over the world, but it’s always Palestine that the left go on about. Why?

Whether Ed is protected by money or not, why should he be forced to show a political viewpoint if it is not what he wants to do. He went into the business to entertain, not preach. I wish more entertainers took that neutral stance. Why do people who think they are good at acting, or singing, or playing an instrument, or born into a royal family, think that this gives them a platform to preach politics or to sway public opinion. Entertain or get off the stage.

Exactly this. Music should be for everyone to enjoy. Not just those with one particular political persuasion.

Art including music has always been political. It’s up to ES not to use his stage for politics of course. Personally I applaud those that do speak up
and stand up for their convictions. They have a voice and stage and choose to use it to do some good.

I find it wild how many comments describe opinion on this as political persuasion or a left to right issue. It's the mass slaughter of civilians in an oppressed state. That has been verified by leading authorities around the world. Maybe you don't want to think about it at a concert, fair enough, but the fact that it's a divisive take is unreal.

Similar happened when people protested the Vietnam war. But I had assumed most people looked back quite favourably now on those who stood up and were counted. Maybe not based on these comments

No, not from anyone who doesn't support a genocide or people who understand friendships. Personally I'd be disappointed I couldn't see someone I wanted to see when I was supposed to but I'd also understand enough to not be mad about it and still support that person, probably support them even more because of their solidarity with their friendships, etc.

It’s also urban warfare in a densely populated area, triggered by a large scale terror attack committed by thousands of members of the local government and civilians.

In the subsequent war, that local government has also refused to provide any shelter for its civilians while hiding in tunnels themselves.
The fighters hide amongst civilians and make themselves indistinguishable by not wearing uniforms.

The worst thing is that many people simply see some headlines or claims like in the pp above about how it’s ‘mass slaughter of civilians in an oppressed state’ and just run with it, without bothering to learn more about this very complex conflict.

People calling for a ‘Free Palestine” on social media rarely mention Hamas, Hezbollah or the influence of the Iranian government. People who say they’re simply criticising Zionism don’t always know what Zionism actually is. And yet they have their very strong opinions.
