Remember - it is a country the size of Wales and is surrounded by hostile forces who openly state they want to destroy the only Jewish homeland.

They were integral parts of those societies and had been for centuries. What do you think happened that resulted in them being driven out?

It’s true that Jewish communities lived peacefully in many Arab countries before that - but they did need to accept their inferior legal and social status . They were not equals.

Of course the establishment of a Jewish homeland in the midst of Arab countries has amplified the tensions . There are faults on both sides.

Amplify it?? No. The perceived intention to turn Palestine into a Jewish state followed by the creation of Israel and the subsequent defeat of the Arab armies is what led to Arab governments and populations to react with immense anger. Unable to defeat Israel on the battlefield, Arab countries turned that anger toward their own Jewish citizens. Totally unfair and wrong.
