Anti Semitism to increase after the government sides with Islamists

The government's decision to sanction Israel, a democratic ally in the ME, surely is a reward to all those that have spouted Jew hate on our city streets. If the government is willing to distance itself from Israel won't this be seen as further motivation for the radical Islmist left to continue their campaigns in the UK. It's a shameful moment and it will take a lot to rebuild relations with Israel.

Chief Rabbi and Tory leader react furiously to Labour sanctions

Britain's Chief Rabbi said a trade ban on Israeli settlements in the West Bank was 'truly a dark day for British Jews'.

You could do the research though. Its not hard to find the evidence that most Jewish people are zionists, or to spend a bit of time looking at the history and practice of Judaism to know that Israel is so important.

And of course being anti-zionist is antisemitic.

It definitely is if you say hateful things about zionists without knowing what a zionist actually believes and the relevance to why they believe in it

If people are just using the word for a safe alternative to saying Jews, hate speech or to try and shame someone without knowing anything about zionism then yes they are just prejudice against Israel or/and Jews in general

The fact some people still don't understand that in these cases there antizionism is definitely antisemitism amazes me. It has got rather tiring at this stage too.

@OpenScroller ,

You write very well for someone who is so unfussy about your sources.

‘I think that this announcement by the, of course, all powerful and influential UK Government has certainly heartened Hamas and Co who have been fighting a propaganda war against Israel since Oct 7th.’

The UK is still a lot more powerful in the World than Israel in every way bar militarily. And there isn’t much left of Hamas to be disheartened, which I do think is a good thing.

As for propaganda, I think the Israeli government is a lot better at it than Hamas. They have a paid lobby as well as being experts in the use of social media to spread propaganda.

‘I follow some Israeli 'settlers' on X and the situation is not as it's been painted at all. There are daily attacks on Israelis from Palestinians. Hamas and the various other Palestinian groups are also in the West Bank so quite why people try to say there are no terrorists there is beyond me.’

Of course, what settlers post on X should be taken as the truth?! And that is if they are even settlers and not part of the Israeli propaganda machine. If you really believe that settlers are the ones suffering, why don’t they open up the West Bank to journalistic scrutiny. But I think you know why…

What you are doing in your post is known as DARVO (deny, attack and reverse victim and offender).

What do you think of the statements of Smotrich and Ben G’vir? They have pretty openly called for ethnic cleansing in the West Bank.

Is it shocking to use the term ‘settlers’? How is it dehumanising? The settlers often refer to themselves using a Hebrew term that translates as settler or pioneer. It is a neutral term and, by definition, only refers to human beings.

The facts here are pretty clear. It took a lot to get a fair chunk of the western world to get to these sanctions. It is hard for some of us to believe that a country like Israel would take steps down the road to fascism. It is totally anathemic to liberal Judaism, and yet…..here we are.

Israel used to be famed for its free media. Look how far it has drifted down the indices of people who rank these things.

Ffs. They aren’t “siding” with anyone. They are saying stop committing genocide. Most people agree with that.

How so? Because it’s anti-Semitic to disagree with a Jew?

No, it’s antisemitic to disagree with the 80% of Jews who support zionism. It’s not antisemitic to disagree with the 20% of Jews who don’t support zionism (who are all antisemites presumably)

or something like that ….

I think that this announcement by the, of course, all powerful and influential UK Government has certainly heartened Hamas and Co who have been fighting a propaganda war against Israel since Oct 7th.

I find it hard to understand why people haven't put it together.

The flood of 'settler violence' by masked men took off after interest in the war in Gaza started to wane. I'm not denying there ISN'T violence toward Palestinians in the West Bank but I do believe it is massively over inflated, there is a lot propaganda without evidence and what true violence there is, is often retaliation for attacks on Israelis. Again something not to be condoned although i don't see why Israelis are held to a higher standard than Palestinians.

I follow some Israeli 'settlers' on X and the situation is not as it's been painted at all. There are daily attacks on Israelis from Palestinians. Hamas and the various other Palestinian groups are also in the West Bank so quite why people try to say there are no terrorists there is beyond me.

Take the hiking incident a few months ago, a hiking group comprised of young to elderly hikers were doing a regular Friday morning hike that took them around the perimeter of a Palestinian village. It's alleged that a dog was loudly whining as it was caught in an inhumane trap and some of the hikers went to release it while the others stopped nearby. It is believed this was a deliberate ploy to get them to stop near the village as Palestinians then came out armed with rocks and started throwing them. The clash then resulted in a Palestinian (who was apparently Sheikh of the village) grabbing the gun from a Israeli security guard which he was not pointing at him, and killing two Israelis. 4 Palestinians were then killed in return fire. How was this reported in MSM? As 'settler' violence.

Just today a Jewish shepherd was attacked by a Palestinian mob, giving him serious injuries, and his flock stolen. There will not be a report in the MSM. There are countless reports of cattle stolen, poisoned, arson, rock throwing, knife attacks etc.

Also countless videos of Western and Israeli activists deliberately antagonising and pushing around shepherds, some of them just teenage boys. One was grabbed by the neck.

It's pretty basic human nature for people to retaliate and try to defend themselves, except when it comes to Israelis it seems.

Even the language, 'settlers', is specifically designed to dehumanise Jews, majority born, and living and working on their land. The fact that Western Governments use that terminology is shocking. It's the same as Zionist IMO.

I don't blame any Israeli who does not support a 2 State solution. It would be suicidal. No sane Israeli Government, which has a responsibility to the safety and security of it's citizens, should support it either. No Western Government would if it was in their back yard.

We should, quite frankly, get to fuck in trying to tell Israel what to do and I think they should totally cut ties with our irrelevant little country which has become a total embarrassment, and a cowardly appeaser of a massive contingent of imported antisemites which has emboldened the native antisemites to come out from under their stones too.

The fact that you deem the UK to be “an irrelevant little country” suggests to me that the rest of your post is likely to contain similar misrepresentations of the situations you describe.

Oh gosh why has this not been in the news. Your telling us that these poor people are just trying to peacefully be shepherds of their stolen flocks on their stolen land and Palestinians are being mean to them as they go for little hikes and try to save animals. The videos we've seen of 'shepherds' killing donkeys, beating the shit out of old ladies and laughing as they point their guns at people are all just because they are being goaded by 'activists' as the poor young shepherds try and defend their new animals on the land they stole last month, really they love animals, old people and peace and are just defending themselves.

Perhaps those 'imported antisemites' in the UK should take some lessons from the peaceful Israeli shepherds, cut power and water to some villages, set fire to some homes and take some land and some flocks for themselves and live good honest lives, hiking in armed groups of 60 saving the lives of animals. Then people like you will welcome them to Britain and defend their right to go about their business. If they lived more like these peaceful Israeli shepherds then there would be no yelling about invaders and stopping the boats, instead the people of Britain would welcome them with open hearts and minds. You should drop the @s of these peaceful shepherds that you follow on twitter, it sounds like we could all learn a lesson in humanity from them ❤️

I don’t know the statistics on that personally. I can only speak for the people I know and the majority of Jewish people I know are vehemently and increasingly against Zionism. There’s one uncle that would maybe consider themselves a Zionist but nobody speaks to him.

In my opinion it is a bad thing (for the most part), if you disagree that is okay but it doesn’t make me antisemitic.

I didn’t say Zionists were all bad people though, I said I thought Zionism itself is a bad thing on the whole.

I was going to edit my post to add that him being a Zionist isn’t the primary reason nobody speaks to him. He is very much into the ‘down the rabbit hole’ conspiracy theory talk and has other unpleasant traits and opinions beyond his thoughts on Isreal. I have never really had any real relationship with him.

So believing that Israel should exist is a bad thing, and most Jewish people believe this bad thing. And the only person you know who thinks there should be a state of Israel is your unplesant conspiracy theorist uncle.

Yeah that's loads better.

I agree with you.

And although I am against the concept of religious states ( Netanyahu did declare Israel to be Jewish), I would prefer secular states, I am also a Zionist because I totally believe the state of Israel has a right to exist. In my model of the world, the concept of self-determination outranks theocracy, and ideology (both conditional). And yes, I know Israel in not a theocracy. But It does have an ideology though. That of democracy. And to me, that in turn outranks theology.

When I say, "my model of the world", I try to base it on this

OHCHR | Universal Declaration of Human Rights - English

But that document lays out an ideal. It does not weight anything. And in a way, that is the beauty of it, and it's downside.

So yeah. I am a Zionist. And to me, to be against Zionism, means one is also against that document I linked,

At the same time, I am also pro Palestine. Because for me, it is self-determination that is the biggie. And Israel is denying people that.

The odd thing is of course. The linked document does not actually mention self determination. But everything branches from that document. And the concept of self determination sits high in those branches.

Broadly agree. Im a secularist. The Jews are a nation, its about much more than religion as is very apparent in Israel where many Jews are not religious at all. The right to self determination of course extends to the Palestinians.

Why are you pinpointing Netanyahu as solely responsible? He is responding to the war the Iranian Revolution has been waging against Israel for 40 odd years. At the very least the responsibility is shared by Iran and the US. Are we drawn in exactly? Impacted severely, yes, of course. I would say Trump and Iran are actually more responsible and I'm no fan of Netanyahu.

I don’t think he is solely responsible, but he took actions that inevitably meant that the rest of the world focused on the Middle East this year.

Now his government is signalling that it intends to prevent Palestine ever becoming a state, regardless of what they do, not for political or defensive reasons but because God said so.

This all, obviously, has an impact that goes far beyond Israel’s borders.
