This is a thread for us to discuss the planned June 26 protest by Gazan Palestinians- the aim of which is to pressure Hamas to honour the ceasefire agreement and allow Gazans self rule.

Brave people who take part.

Watching and wishing them safety and hoping they can suceed.

Are we back to disclaimers being required for every post ?

Re protests being pointless. Who knows? It's one of those things that we can't know. Because if there were no protests, would government policy be different ?

Missed the point again Alan.

No, we don't require a disclaimer. We are just pointing out the truth that we do not see much condemnation for Hamas on the marches, and we saw plenty of calls for Israel to ceasefire and none for Hamas to surrender, which seems odd given that either Hamas or Israel could have stopped the slaughter at any point.

It's not really a point I wish to discuss over and over. Its just drawing attention to the anomaly. Everyone can draw their own conclusions about why that may be. As I'm sure you already have.

Only if we’re back to acting like childish bullies rather than debating like adults.

I've seen the marches.
Full of people calling Israel to ceasefire, stop the genocide, etc.
Never seen or heard a single chant for Hamas to ceasefire, surrender or disarm. Which would also stop the 'genocide'.
It might not be explicit support for Hamas, but it's not exactly condemnation either.
And its the same on here.
Despite the fact that it was October 7 that kicked off this latest round of slaughter and 10's of 1000's would be alive if they had not done it or just surrendered and disarmed immediately.
Still no calls for that from the Pro Pal side- a very odd omission if the most important thing is to save Palestinian life.

Exactly. When it’s mentioned that there’s no condemnation of Hamas the response is always: where have people said they support Hamas?

Obviously not many people in the UK will openly support Hamas because they are a proscribed terrorist organisation. But not to condemn them speaks volumes… as they would say about anyone who fails to condemn the actions of the IDF.

Surely you’re not suggesting that every single protester on those marches are just there because they are anti-semitic? How would you like them to protest against Hamas? Have you been anywhere near any of these marches? I doubt it, so how exactly do you know what individual people on these marches are protesting about? Or are you just making wild assumptions?

Hope you aren't suggesting that all of Tommy's followers are Christians.

What you said to me on another thread. Despite the crosses, chants of the Lord’s prayer etc.

I haven’t been on a march, so haven’t seen a placard, or heard a chant. However, I wouldn’t assume I’d seen it all. Because I clearly haven’t.

I don't know what the hell you are on about now or why you have bought Tommy Robinson followers into this.

Good night @JadeHare the conversation is too batshit for me.

JadeHare · 06/07/2026 21:40

The irony of you accusing me of making wild assumptions while making assumptions about me is not lost.

😆

I didn't suggest that every single protestor is anti semitic, nor do I think they are.

But I don't see or hear of any condemnation of Hamas from them. Not on the placards I see them holding, not in the chants. That doesn't necessarily make them anti semitic but maybe turning a blind eye to the harm Hamas do to the Palestinian people. If I'm wrong please feel free to provide evidence of condemnation for Hamas from those on pro Palestinian marches.

The irony of you accusing me of making wild assumptions while making assumptions about me is not lost.

Zero condemnation from whom? Just to be clear.

From protestors in the UK.

JadeHare · 06/07/2026 20:44

I mean, to quote you from much earlier on, on this thread, “No one is accusing anyone of supporting Hamas”. So who is supposed to be the condemning of Hamas not caring for it’s own people?

JadeHare · 06/07/2026 20:38

Twiglets1 · 06/07/2026 20:05

It seems obvious they do not. And zero condemnation about them not caring.

I don't actually think Hamas care about their own people dying.

I guess if 22k dead children of your own people isn't enough then a few mumsnetters and students going for a noisy walk isn't going to prompt much action.
Still doesn't really explain to me why no one bothers anyway...

ENGLANDalltheway · 06/07/2026 19:54

dairydebris · 05/07/2026 19:21

I think they would care. I think they love to see people chanting their slogans in the street, and I think they love to know hatred of Israel is growing, and I think they know it leads to more income streams. I don't think they'd be pleased to see the opposite taking place on streets anywhere tbh.

I don't think it'd actually encourage them to fuck off though.

I agree with, I think on some level they care.

ENGLANDalltheway · 06/07/2026 19:49

Martymcfly24 · 05/07/2026 15:19

How do you think that would look practically?

Do you think Hamas would care about people protesting in a foreign country against them?

Who knows since no one ever protests against Hamas. Maybe protesters should give it a try. Nothing to lose. Personally, I feel the lack of condemnation, eg when the reports of mass rapes were released, might help Hamas think, they have support from some in the West. The silence at times was deafening.

The question was whether Hamas would care about people protesting in a foreign country against them.

Maybe you're right that they would care a little bit (though I doubt it). Not so much that it would encourage them to fuck off, as you say. Nothing seems to encourage them to do that!

I most certainly did not. I asked a question in the spirit of discussion to see what that poster thought.
Hence the question mark.

Please stop putting words in my mouth to prove a point or shut down discussion.
Its very tiresome @Twiglets1 .

And there is no need to bring Israel into every discussion.

Pure semantics. It was obvious you were doubting that Hamas would care about people protesting in a foreign country against them or why even ask the question if you assumed Hamas would care.

And how exactly is it shutting down discussion? I'm discussing it with you now - whether Hamas would care about people protesting in a foreign country against them. My opinion is No they wouldn't. Do you think they would?

Martymcfly24 · 05/07/2026 17:22

No - and neither do I think the Israel government care about people protesting in a foreign country against them.

The irony ... plenty of people think that pro Palestinian protests will help the situation in Gaza, despite it seems to have achieved fuck all.

Yet when the potential people protesting in a foreign country are anti Hamas rather than anti the Israel government you suddenly see that it's pretty pointless.

Who said it was pointless?
