The government's independent reviewer of terrorism and state threats legislation, Jonathan Hall KC, tells the BBC that attacks on Jewish people in the UK are "the biggest national security emergency" since 2017.

"There are Brits in London in particular, Manchester, but probably all around the country, who are now thinking they cannot live a normal life. And it's not one attack, it's multiple attacks," he said.

Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis, who represents Britain's largest Jewish community, says the incident "proves that if you are visibly Jewish, you're not safe and far more needs to be done."

That's the shocker. Why shouldn't people be allowed to be "visibly Jewish" in the UK? Makes me angry.

They could be paying him. Weren’t some of the recent attacks on synagogues carried out by random thugs with no particular political ties, who were doing it for the money - like getting a hitman to kill someone?

I don't think it's only about people not understanding that Jews in the UK are not responsible for Gaza. It's also about understanding that Iran's state-sponsored terrorism is a fundamental component of this war, from Hamas and Hezbollah to directly or indirectly supporting attacks on Jewish communities worldwide.

It is. People still don't understand that the Jewish people in the UK are not responsible for Gaza. All that hate speech on marches, 'globalise the intifada' has resulted in increased hatred/antisemitism here in the UK. It emboldens supporters of terrorists to take action here. It doesn't help the people of Gaza of course. It does make innocent Jewish people here fearful. Its appalling and more action must be taken to protect the Jewish community.

The attacks on Jews is appalling and again we have to look at causes and the main cause of this rise in anti semitism has been a permissive environment of new hate during pro Palestinian marches and on like activity. Anti semtitsm has almost been normlaised.....If you don't penalise appeals to criminalise chants of gloablise the intafada this is the result.

We need to try and put a stop in the bottle and have a twin strategy of educating people on anti semtism while improving policing of hate speech. We should also not be afraid of applying the law robustly just because the perpetrators of these crimes are from another minority.......

Just read in the Telegraph that an Islamic group believed to have ties to the Iranian regime has taken credit on Telegram for the double stabbings.

Yes they have

"An Iran-linked group calling itself Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyya (HAYI) has claimed responsibility for a "terrorist attack" on April 29, 2026, where two Jewish men were stabbed in the London neighborhood of Golders Green."

In the end, that will destroy their chances of becoming a party that could challenge Labour or Conservatives to become one of the main parties to run Britain, in my opinion.

The Green Party have a number of candidates that have previously posted anti semitic things, also one obnoxious candidate for the 'Green' Party said October 7th was 'revenge' those hateful individuals may become elected to parliament. What has this country become.

The suspect has a history of violence and MH problems. It could well be antisemitism but I’m not seeing any clear link to conflict in the middle east.

"Isaac Cohen, who was an eyewitness, told ITV News: "We tried to save people."

"We screamed 'be careful'," he said.

Cohen added that the alleged attacker appeared to be "looking for" Jewish people."

"The scene is around half a mile from a memorial wall where an attempted arson attack took place on Monday, and near where four Jewish community ambulances were destroyed by fire in late March."

Are you aware that we know the man had a history and that he attacked two people and we don’t know why? That it’s possible/likely that it was an antisemitic attack just as when someone attacks a group of Muslims it’s possible/likely it’s anti-Islamic but that does not necessarily mean it has anything to do with conflict in the Middle East?

I think it’s really frightening.

I think you misunderstood my post. I think it’s entirely possible it was antisemitism. Of course he could also just be having a MH crisis and be fixated on something else. The police said he had form for violence related to MH I think? We won’t know till it’s been investigated. Frightening for everyone concerned.

The perp walked past people dressed in a non Jewish way, and attacked only people dressed in traditional Jewish clothing. One had literally just placed his kippah on his head. Do you seriously think it is 'entirely possible' its not antisemitism? Why cast doubt? To what end?
