It is now being increasingly reported that there are multiple threats against Jews in this country as a result of wars in the middle east. How do we go about defusing tensions? Should the police take a more active role? Should we look at social media more closely for stirring up hate? Maybe we should be educating children more about anti semttism in schools as well as importantly saying the right of Israel to exist as a state. The tide needs to turn.

Spat at, threatened and kidnapped: British Jews tell of rising antisemitism

British Jews have described to BBC Panorama how they are experiencing a rise in antisemitism.

Yes definitely in Africa

So not likely to be discussed on a ME thread then, no?

It’s funny how it’s only the conflict in Israel/Palestine that causes concern not other atrocities in the world, Nigeria for example. Glad they are in prison

Meanwhile, you have people like this guy who's so salty about being suspended for spreadinf conspiravy theories and calling for Israel to be wiped out that he started an organisation to stop the NHS from attempting to combat antisemitism.

He's also quite a supported of Dr Rahmeh the racist, who apparently will be going on trial next year.

Hear hearThey walk amongst us. Balant, enboldened and proud in their antisemitism. They don't think its wrong. Sadly, there are supporters of these creatures. They appear unable to separate a conflict thousands of miles away with people living in the UK, are they stupid or just like spreading hate.

They need dealing with, there's no place in our society for that.

There are less Jews, so more attacks?? Are you aware you are providing everybody else's point?

The security in place at synagogue, Jewish schools is nothing like that of Muslim equivalents. I appreciate there may have been a recent rise in racism against Muslims and they may have had to up their security recently, but it is not on the same scale at all. Either in frequency or in scale of security measures.

It really is unfathomable to me how some people are so reluctant to admit Jews suffer more in this respect and even on a thread about Anti-semitism, are unable to not make comparisons and mentions of anti-Muslim issues.

Unfortunately this a view I have seen so often on MN, particularly in the echo chambers of CITM threads. Which is indeed worrying and indicative itself.

Hear hear

Yes, in England you are right. In other parts of the world this is not true.

The majority of global terrorism is Islamist terrorism. The largest number of victims of Islamist terrorism are Muslims. Not to mention the Muslims murdered daily by their own governments- Hamas, the Iranian government and the Taliban to name a few. All excused, ignored and in some cases supported by Western useful idiots. Right wing terrorism is the more prevalent in the US but globally it is not.

Per Capita, yes, more attacks happen to Jews than Muslims in the Western world because there are less Jewish people living there than Muslims. I didn’t say that wasn’t true.

I was calling out the fact that a PP said Jewish schools needed protection and Muslim schools did not. That is not the case.

Both groups experience sharp increases in targeted threats, harassment, and violence during escalations of geopolitical conflict in the Middle East.

Well doesn't he sound charming - not.

Will be following the trial of Dr Rahmeh with interest. Hard to imagine how she can be found anything but Guilty of inviting support for the proscribed group Hamas.

The Times: Antisemitic incidents ‘rise by a fifth’ amid US-Israel war with Iran

Antisemitism in Britain is believed to have spiked after the United States and Israel’s war with Iran and a double stabbing of two Jewish men in London, according to a report.

Data from the Community Security Trust (CST) details 1,926 antisemitic incidents recorded across the country in January to June, up by a fifth on the first half of last year, when there were 1,598.

It is the second-highest total reported to the trust in the first six months of any year, exceeded only by the 2,019 incidents recorded in the first half of 2024.

The numbers have been described as “appalling” by Sarah Jones, the policing and crime minister, who said they showed “people living in fear just for being who they are”.

The first few months of 2026 saw a series of arson attacks at Jewish sites in London, including on four Jewish community ambulances, as well as a double stabbing in Golders Green, which was treated as an act of terrorism.

The April 29 stabbings, which left two men injured, preceded the highest daily antisemitic incident totals of the six-month period. A total of 71 incidents were recorded by CST in the three days after the stabbing.

The trust said some of the incidents “celebrated the violence and called for further injuries to Jewish people, or used the incident to promote antisemitic conspiracy theories and anti-Jewish abuse”.

Not sadly telling. You over exaggerated the facts. Muslim places now have to be protected too due to hate crimes. Let’s be honest.

Why is it so hard for some people to admit you are more likely to be in a racially motivated attack if you are Jewish vs Muslim?

I also find the "it's a conspiracy /it didn't happen" remarks not from Jade, but many many others something I have never come across with other nationalities or races. Where was the demanding of more evidence from Sudan or refusing to believe Yazihidi witnessses for example.

It's completely disingenuous to compare 'Islamophobia' and antisemitism IMO.

The main reason people have an issue with Islam, and a 'fear' of it, is obviously due to the horrific terrorist attacks carried out by Muslims since 7/7 in 2005. The majority of terrorist attacks since then have been by Muslims.

75% of the active terrorist threat in the UK is from Muslims.

People can literally be blown up on a bus, train, at a concert, beheaded on the street etc.

Are people really expected to not have a negative opinion on a religion which can be interpreted in such a way that the perpetrators believe they are following their religion by carrying out such horrific atrocities?

It's insane!

Jews, on the other hand, pose zero risk to the UK and have never committed any terrorist attacks.

Yes, in England you are right. In other parts of the world this is not true.

In many ways we are comparing apples and oranges here - I think the sorts of hatred, who they're coming from, what motivates them, is pretty different.

Islamophobia is very prevalent in the mainstream media and on social media, and in politics, and pretty much always comes from the right. Jews in Britain have not as yet, nor are likely to commit major acts of violence towards Muslims. That violence is generally stirred by the political right.

As a Jewish person who is concerned by Islamophobia I think it would also be naive to deny that there is really quite a lot of active antisemitism in the Muslim community. The biggest physical threat to Jews does come from Muslim extremism, let's not beat about the bush. Right wing agitators aren't that interested in us (for now) because Islam is the bigger issue for them. The mainstream media is pretty pro-Jewish, but there is a lot of antisemitism on social media, from both left, right and Muslim sources (and bots from Russia etc making trouble).

The answer to that isn't 'we should be more Islamophobic to protect the Jews' but we do need to build more bridges and make sure, for example, that people of all backgrounds get to meet Jews face to face and see that we are people - it's very easy to dehumanise someone you've never met and many people have never met a Jew as we are such a small minority. And it doesn't help that the media rarely gives voice to Jews who criticise Israel, so the public, and Muslim people (justifiably) angry at Israel's treatment of Palestinians might easily conclude we all unquestioningly support everything Israel does and that we all hate Muslims. Which I find both very sad and dangerous.

The end of your post is very kind and understanding. We need more of this and less division. Tricky place to get to.

But "one side" is subject to hate crimes at nearly 10 times the "other side".

So any rational person would see that one is much worse than the other. Which again raises the question of what would motivate you to equate them with each other?

I don’t equate. I think it’s horrible. Why can’t you?

Not sadly telling. You over exaggerated the facts. Muslim places now have to be protected too due to hate crimes. Let’s be honest.

So facts are facts, and by quoting the level of per capita hate crimes against Jews compared to Muslims I clearly can see that hate crimes against Muslims exist.

You claim that my numbers citing that Jews are nearly ten times more likely to be victims of hate crimes than Muslims are "exaggerated " so here is the source:
https://www.reuters.com/world/jews-england-wales-suffer-highest-rate-religious-hate-crime-data-shows-2025-10-09/

But this then raises another interesting question as to what views do you hold that would motivate you to dispute the point, why would you want to dispute and claim that the level of hate crimes against Jews is "exaggerated "?
