“Israel's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir wore a noose pin on his lapel to signal his support for the bill”

I first heard about this on Facebook and thought it might be anti-Israel fake news. But no, it’s true.

Absolutely horrifying and sickening.

Itamar Ben-Gvir wearing a black suit, red tie and white kippah, talking on a podium in front of Israeli flags

Palestinians convicted of lethal attacks face death penalty under new Israeli law

The new law, passed on Monday, was pushed hard by the far-right and Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

I wouldn’t have offered info on hostages either, no matter how much I wanted to, the fear of Hamas would keep me quiet. You can’t presume all Gazans didn’t say anything because they didn’t care.

That’s true but there were also many civilians who actively took part in the Oct 7th attacks. I’m sure you’ve also seen the civilians spitting on the dead body of a German Israeli girl who was at the music concert and whose corpse was paraded in the back of a truck in Gaza.
Moreover, the reason the PA hasn’t held any elections in the West Bank for years is because support for Hamas is so strong there they knew they’d lose power.

So you can’t assume that people were just too afraid - many of them just support murdering Israeli civilians.

And not all Germans supported Hitler either - but that didn’t make the Allies wrong to attack Nazi Germany. Sadly, that’s what happens when a country is run by terrorists.

They will if it’s treason against the state of Israel. Iran has killed hundreds for treason against Iran. Oddly enough they don’t have the death penalty for treason against other countries. Because that’s how laws on treason work.

RTFT and the news on this
Jewish Israelis won’t
They are tried in a civilian court
they will have a right to council in a civilian court
Punishments are not the same in a civilian court and do not stand at 93% guilty verdict as they do in a military court

It’s Israeli discrimination AGAIN

Stirabout · 29/04/2026 16:19

A lot of derailing on this thread and not one comment on the extension of
the death penalty ( the thread ) to the West Bank upthread

That’s quite a big deal isn’t it !!

and you know what
It’s happening
Now !!!
Not 70 years ago or a millenia
but now

Not up for discussion because it can’t be justified I guess

Bullshit. I gave no hatred against anyone based on their race, colour or any other characteristic. I judge people by their actions or inactions.

When a pseudo state spent 18 years firing missiles at Israeli civilians, hoping to kill as many as possible, pardon me if my sympathy for them has run a bit dry.

And don't ignore the crucial point I made about not one single Gazan civilian offering information on the whereabouts of the hostages. Even when there was an offer of $5 million on the table. Not one single Gazan stepped up. Let that sink in.

At the very least the civilians are guilty of aiding and abetting. At the very least.

And as I made the point earlier when countries don't attack Israel when countries don't attack Israel, Israel doesn't attack them. The simplest and easiest way not to get any of your civilians killed in collateral damage, is to not fucking attack Israel first. Simple.

You are missing the point
Israelis can commit murder but they won’t get the death sentence

Maybe they’ll even be applauded just like the IDF rapists are

What should Palestinians do to defend themselves against the shameless land theft, murder, sexual abuse, torture and general oppression that they have suffered at the hands of Israel for decades? What would be appropriate in your view?

They should do what the Greeks did when they were expelled from Turkey in the 1920s, or the Indians expelled from Pakistan in 1948 & the Jews from the Middle East from the 40s-70s, and the Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023: accept that they have lost & either protest peacefully (ie without targeting BABIES and old people) to get a compromise of some sort, or just get on with making a new life for themselves. Like everyone else has to do when they start a war and then lose it.

Plus, unlike all those others, the “nakhba” was largely caused by the Arab armies telling Arabs to leave for a few weeks so they could kill all the Jews. Arabs who stayed in Israel now have full civil rights - the rest CHOSE to leave thinking they’d grab the Jews’ possessions afterwards.

They refused the creation of a Palestinian state that was offered to them because they wanted to destroy Israel. They gambled and lost.

On 27 February 2026, the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran. Iran did not attack Israel before they got attacked by Israel. This directly contradicts what you tried to say.

ThanksFloral
polls in Israel have been shocking to read but they do back up the existence and disgusting attitude that some people’s lives are worth less than others.
No wonder the death penalty passed
No wonder it’s being extended to the West Bank
No wonder so many innocents have been murdered by the IDF

[ Around 70% of Jewish Israelis support the death penalty ( not for themselves of course ) ]

No but Israel is not the aggressor when it attacks a country that has been firing rockets at for years, nor the country that’s been funding those attacks - and the proof of that is why else would Iran insist that Israel had to stop fighting Hezbollah in Lebanon as part of the ceasefire between Iran, the US and Israel!

Israel are clearly the aggressors
After the way tens of thousands of people have been killed and maimed and their homes destroyed
Even now they
continue to bulldoze land that is not theirs they
continue to occupy land that is not theirs they
encourage settler violence in land that is not theirs

They are the aggressors and have been for decades

They've killed enough Palestinians over the years and now they wish to kill even more with the death penalty
Killing in plain site
making it legal to do so now
and without the need for war

They are the aggressors and this one sided discriminatory death penalty goes yet further in proving that
Anyone who can’t see that is blind
or prejudiced

What’s your suggestion then for Israel after the genocidal attack on October 7th?

In international law they were allowed to attack Gaza to prevent Hamas from repeating the attack - as Hamas had promised to do. Hamas chose to refuse to let its own civilians shelter in the tunnels underneath Gaza, thus using Palestinians as shields for Hamas fighters.

So tell us: what do you think Israel should have done that would have removed Hamas from power without killing a single Gazan civilian?

Because I don’t know what that would be.

It’s not about nor caring that Palestinian children are dying - it’s a tragedy.

I just don’t see what alternative Israel had after Hamas attacked and kidnapped Israeli civilians and promised to do the same again and again.

If you have a solution that Israel could have chosen instead, please let us know. Otherwise you’re just blaming the victims.

Remember too that doctors and journalists were holding Israelis captive in their homes. And we only know that because a couple of Israelis who survived were literally rescued from such a family home. With children present. Not even Nazi Germany was that evil - some Germans risked their lives to help Jews or escaped prisoners of war.

@twiglets Plenty of people condemn Russia but any Russians in the UK are here escaping Putin, same with Iranians but many Jews here support Netanyahu and IDF actions.

We've a poster on here who clearly hates Palestinians for failing to step in against Hamas and stop the kidnapping.... what level of thought process is that?

But at this time, our thoughts will be with the Jewish community in Golders Green.

It is shameful on the UK that Jews living here are thinking of moving back to Israel.

That isn’t true about Iranians or Russians: there have been several cases of pretend refugees who were acting for their home country all that time. There are also the sons and daughters of top Iranian officials who are studying in the west and who make no secret of their support for the regime. So that’s not the explanation.

Glad you after that it is illegals when civilians are targeted , an IDF and Hamas specialty .

We have a lot more in common than you think.

The difference is that when individual IDF soldiers do that, other Israelis who whistleblow or who protest about it aren’t beaten to death by the security forces.

Speaking of a 'special hatred' for certain people. I think this post really demonstrates what Palestinians are up against and is part of the reason why there hasn't been more action against Israel. This type of predujice runs deep and has been demonstrated more that once even on mumsnet. If for instance it were Israelis being held in detention by Palestinians and being gang raped it would be front page news, it would be ribbons and posters, it would be justification for mass slaughter.

People try and just talk about Palestinians being gang raped and you are asked what about Sudan and insinuations that because you care about people being held against their will and sexually assaulted by the people holding them captive you just hate Jews.
